Very nice sirloin steak with all the trimmings.

Just been for Sunday lunch in this lovely pub and felt compelled to post this up. It was one of the nicest Sunday roasts we’ve had in ages. Absolutely fantastic! Everything was perfectly cooked, there was plenty of it and the service was excellent. If you’re in Yarmouth and thinking about Sunday lunch I’d definitely recommend this place.

My cousin & her family was visiting the Island for the week ... We decided to go out for lunch on the thursday ... I don't eat out very often as I am very allergic to certain foods ... In fact it was only 3rd time doing so in 5 years ... I told the barman when ordering our food that I was allergic to certain foods ... Our meals arrived all looked very nice ... 2 x Burgers & fries & 2 x Ham Egg & Chips ... My burger looked lovely ... No tomatoes to be seen ... That was apart from the burger sauce in the burger ... I asked the barman if it contains tomatoes ... He went to check with the chef & came straight back & informed me the sauce was made with tomatoes & told me not to eat it ... Luckerly I always check my meals before eatingan of it ... Because if I had eaten any of the burger they would have been calling an ambulance for me ... People don't seem to understand how dangerous it is to give someone something they are allergic too ... I always say you wouldn't give someone Peanuts if they were allergic to them ... I get the same answer everytime ... No of course not they always reply ... So why not take allergies seriously ... I always carry 2 injections with me everywhere I go just incase ... The Ham Egg & Chips I decided to have instead was very nice ... My cousin & her family all enjoyed their meals ... She reminded me the last time we had all eaten out too ... (A different pub) ... I had had an anaphylaxis attack with an ambulance being called ... She said how scary it was to watch someone going through anaphylaxis ... So please if someone says they are allergic to something please inform the kitchen ... Its not someone just being fussy ... Its someone who at the best just goes to A&E in an ambulance ... But at it's worse being taken straight to the morgue ... Please train all staff about allergies & how to inform the chef about them too

Nice little spot to eat I had the lighter version of fish and chips at £8.50 everything was hot and tasty and would definitely come back if in the area 😀

Great choice of low level music, great selection of rum, cider and ale. The food is most excelent and the staff are fantastic. Love the beer buddies. Such a great pub and atmosphere. Allways welcoming.

Very impressed with this place. The professionalism of the young girl behind the bar coupled with the excellent beer and food 'blew us away'. One of the highlights of our trip to the IOW. (Just for reference the girl from Borden)

Awesome pub... Fab staff... Very welcoming, friendly and fun

Visited twice as we had an IOW voucher book 10% discount. Very impressed, once in the courtyard and once inside, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Service was courteous, friendly and efficient; we will return.

Can't rate this place highly enough. They squeezed us in and I'm very glad they did. The drinks are great, but the food is excellent. We had Duck, Sea bass and Macaroni cheese followed by Sticky toffee pudding and Passionfruit Pomfret. The staff are all really lovely too. Don't hesitate to book.

Food here was delicious. It took a while to come out but was totally worth the wait. Better steak than the terrace! Pulled pork fries were a bit sweet for my liking, but other than that, perfect!

Lovely pub with an extensive fruit cider range

A nice pub with an interesting garden area (interesting decor includes wall art and objets d'art). Serves good, local beer. Food available, but we didn't eat. You can park your bicycles in the back yard.

Well renowned locally for its great beer and cider options this pub is very under rated for its food. Chilli and coriander prawns were delicious. Proper size and flavour to match. Figs and prosciutto starter was excellent as were the tomatoes and Halloumi. The creamiest Halloumi ever from the Briddlesford dairy IOW according to my wife. Duck and sweet potato mash for £17 was excellent value and cooked perfectly pink. Large pan fried sea bass for £17 also compares really favourably with other restaurants. The best presented sweet potato curry my wife can remember on the island. If you consider the Wheatsheaf as a drinks only establishment then you’re definitely missing a trick. Strong recommendation and the sommelier also knows his wine. A Californian Cabernet Sauvignon which was new to me was a joy. A rethink over the established order of quality and value food in Yarmouth is right here.

High quality food with kind and patient workers. Compared to the other restaurants it isnt expensive but the quality is still high

Had 2 Ham ciabates with ham and one with fishfinger, 😍 only downside was the flying ants outside, but nature always wins

On a day trip and popped in for a drink and food. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Excellent service. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

Had a great Saturday afternoon this weekend, meet up with some family and friends, and sat in the beer garden, lovely sunny day, great atmosphere with good live music during the afternoon,a great time was had by all.staff were good,very helpful and polite, a place to visit

Always a great place for beers and a meal when staying in Yarmouth

Ate at the Wheatsheaf with friends twice last week, could not fault the food we were served, the Manager and his staff were very friendly and accommodating, I thought there was a nice atmosphere in the Pub. Also the Guinness is excellent.

Food was absolutely delicious. The crab bruschetta was beautiful. It was my first time trying crab but I’m so glad I had it. My partner had the lamb and was extremely happy with it. Both plates were empty. Very happy!. Would highly recommend stopping here. The staff were really friendly and welcoming too. Thank you

I can only assume that the previous review is completely fictional and malicious. We live in Yarmouth and regularly eat at the wheatsheaf. I have never had a bad meal, the manager is friendly and very efficient as are his staff, why write a bad review without giving the establishment a chance to put things right at the time? You say you didn’t want to make a fuss so you take the cowards option and hide behind your keyboard And you’re a wine expert as well ? This review is absolutely vile and untrue, do us all a favour go back to the mainland and don’t bother coming back.

Best food I had in an english pub for years! We had the fish dish of the day. Fresh fishcake from 3 different types of fish with a very tasty sauce of peppers and Chorizo instead of your fatty Tartar sauce!! The sauteed vegetables cooked to the point with a nice Taste of good quality olive oil and sesame seeds. On most menues you struggle to find greens/vegetables at all!! And all that for a very reasonable price with a very friendly and Quick Service.

Popped in for lunch, plenty of seating and great food. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the fish and chips and it was very good. We sat in the garden in the back, lovely shaded areas available too in the summertime.

Great place to chill out with friends. Live music at the weekends. I especially like the Sunday afternoon sessions.

Adrian the manager recognised my boyfriend who last visited summer 2023 and was very welcoming and accommodating. Chatted to both of us and made our first night on the island absolutely fantastic. Food was definitely 5*! Along with the service from all of the staff.

Absolutely love this place. Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Amazing food, fabulous service. All staff were very professional, polite and more importantly happy. Lovely to see a small pub thriving in the current economic climate. Clearly many of the people eating and drinking are regulars given the banter between them and the staff. To the gentleman who posted about waiting to be served and sitting in the restaurant part of the pub, I feel that your review is harsh, given that you had a friendly welcome (maybe not in the format you wished) and were asked whether you were eating is extremely reasonable in my eyes. It's a real shame you didn't try the food too.

Ordering a pint of bitter and a pint of bitter shandy here seemed to take an age, almost as if it was a rare request. The atmosphere seemed alright in the bar area - to the right as you enter - but we could only find a seat in the dining area, which was furnished in a manner unbefitting with the age of the place. We were quite randomly asked ‘Are you guys eating or…’ without any friendly greeting, which always puts me off. Can’t stand my wife being addressed as part of the ubiquitous ‘guys’ greeting either. Not somewhere I would want to spend money.

Amazing Sunday lunch. Great service. The gravy, the veg selection, the amount of beef. Tastiest roast!

Lovely pub very good food, reasonable price for the area, wheelchair accessible, No immediate parking but there are several car parks within a minutes walk. Happy friendly staff. Would recommend and will be going there again.

Came here for lunch off the cuff looking for food, it was absolutely excellent with both our mains being well portioned and delicious,with a decent variety of beers to choose from and friendly staff. What’s not to love

Great pint after long day at sea

Quick visit to Yarmouth and tried the Wheatsheaf upon recommendation by lady next shop and it was worth it! Lovely place with warm welcoming staff and great food. Ordered soup of the day- tomato and pepper soup, crispy fried prawns, veggie pakoras and a small portions of fish and chips. All dishes were really good, the veggie pakoras looked bit overdone but tasted ok. Soup was very refreshing with the side of a fresh and warm focaccia . The sticky toffee pudding was the best, very soft pudding, not too sweet and a perfect toffee sauce! Overall, great quick stop near the ferry point. Definitely recommend!

Popped in for a coffee with a friend, very welcoming, lovely coffee and the place clearly had a sense that they took pride in their pub. Didn't eat but I've heard great things about their food so I'm sure it's on par with everything else

Frequently visit the Wheatsheaf in Yarmouth. Large, varied and excellent selection of Beers. Lovely Beer (and Food) garden. Highly recommend... and opening hours are more than the others in the area. Will be back again soon

We wanted a nice meal but where we could take our dogs. Food was amazing, great prices, service, and very dog friendly. A rare food gem on the island in my opinion.

Had sunday lunch and it was superb. The Belly Pork was melt in the mouth with crisp crackling. No small measures either. The staff were very friendly and the service was very quick. A must if you are in Yarmouth.

Very yummy food, big portions very good quality. Staff were friendly and the food came fairly quickly. Will definitely be coming again .

Quirkily decorated old town pub offering excellent, well-made but not too fancy food and a good selection of real ales and ciders. Dogs are welcome, including in the pretty walled garden. Service is good natured and friendly (and I'm not just saying that because a friend of mine works there!).

I had the best chilli I've ever had in this pub. It was pulled beef chilli and I have not stopped thinking about it since I ate it! Absolutely stunning dish.

Recommended. Very nice food reasonably priced. A hood selection of ales and lagers too. All on one level, so wheelchair accessible. Dog friendly too. The menu has vegetarian and vegan options. There is free parking for 1 hour directly outside, or free parking after 18.00hrs and all day on Sunday

Lovely pub! Food was amazing, kids fish and chips was really nice and my little boy ate the lot! Atmosphere was really chilled and music was nice. Fish finger Ciabatta was superb. 10/10 will be going back again.

Great pub. The beers (ales) change regularly and during our enforced stay in Yarmouth (engine trouble) 4 different good beers and a dinner that was excellent. Also live music almost every early evening. Would recommend without any quarms

A great little pub in the heart of Yarmouth. They have made some attractive outdoor seating and on most days provide live music. The seating outside is more limited than indoors but they have made the most of what they have. Food was serviced quickly and efficiently even though they were busy. I had a bean tacos which were excellent and a little different to the average grub. A great place to go when the sun is shining and you want to relax with some good food and music.

Nice pub with tasty food and some unique decorations. Friendly staff. The kids menu is a good portion.

Managed to get through three of the four real ales while listening to the Offshore Duo in the beer garden on a sunny day - the whole vibe was great. Live music from 1630-1830 on a Saturday - always live music but not always the Duo.

On a short visit, staying locally, we made this place our favourite. Lovely people, great atmosphere, and fabulous food. They were fully booked one night with a big party but still squeezed us in. The Rhubarb Creme Brulee is to die for. I will be back for that alone!

Got to the pub bit late on after a long bus journey, and with only 10 minutes before the kitchen was due to close the staff were more than happy to still feed us with friendly smiles.

Average pub in a not that nice a town. I didn't find the staff that friendly. Am not a cider drinker and expected it to be cool on a hot day but it was warmer than the ale. The food was OK.

Sausage and mash was excellent but the blend of cabbage peas and stem broccoli was slightly undercooked for my tastes.

Alcohol selection is very good, food is quite good too, went on a quiet day which made this experience goodn

Dropped in for a pint after a Sunday walk. Great range of beers, interesting decor and a welcoming atmosphere. We sat in the outside space, a sun trap with a rough and ready feel. Will book a beer tasting session soon.

Nice pub tucked down a back street in the central area of Yarmouth. Great selection of real ales and ciders. Noticed an ale tasting selection, three x third of a pint, plus others. I didn't try it, but a great way to try new beers.

Nice enough pub with a really interesting selection of ciders. For me, there were too many TVs blasting out live sports, but apparently they were only temporary for the rugby, so I may well be back!

Had the Beer and Gin tasting experience here today and it was brilliant we really enjoyed it. The Beer Buddies light snacks we had were delicious and other people's food coming out looked amazing. Really lovely atmosphere and fabulous staff.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Food was very good, although the menu is quite small. One of the waiters knew a lot about his beers which was lovely and he was very happy to advise and cater to specific tastes and wants.

Friendly, good choice of beers, lovely building.

The fish and chips were lovely and batter very crispy, which we like . The surf and turf burger was lush too...bit dissapointing no non alcoholic ciders on offer but plenty of NA lagers and soft drinks to choose from.
