This is a great 'out of the way' place to stop and have a quick bite to eat or drink, the cafe is set in the grounds of the abbey and there is seating inside and out. A lovely location on any day. There is a small menu of food available. Plus homemade cakes and hot drinks

Well my dog Peggy loved this place - the sausages were of such poor quality that she got to eat them both! The bacon - I suspect - had been re-heated from the day before (certainly tasted that way), the tinned tomatoes were luke warm, and the toast was cold. The piece de resistance was the eggs (see picture) - they had been neither boiled nor poached, and I think were cooked in the microwave: one literally exploded over me when I pierced it with my knife. I gingerly took one mouthful and then gave up. To be fair, I didn't send the food back because a) they were obviously really busy, and b) I hate confrontations (!) Given the chance, they may have fixed it. At least Peggy was happy...

We visited to have their breakfast as had seen it advertised and looked lovely. However it just shows how advertising can fool you. The sausages were barely cooked - in fact I left one of mine as it looked very dubious, the bacon was overcooked and hard (not crispy just hard). The poached egg was like a hard boiled egg and the tomatoes had again been overcooked. The butter for the toast was in wrappers which when opened just poured onto the toast as it had liquified. It wasn't very busy but took a long time to come. Worst breakfast we have ever had on the Island and certainly won't be going back

Arrived at 10.07am for breakfast "served from 10am", according to website & A frame poster at entrance to cafe. However it was cordoned off. 3 members of staff appeared, so we enquired whether there was a new way to cafe. "Don't open till 11am" the lady responded. She walked off with 2 young lads. We explained this was not what website or poster said. She told us they had just got new posters and they definitely opened at 11am. I showed her the poster at entrance and she in a very rude, curt manner told me that the website & poster was wrong & that would open at 11am!! Sorry Quarr Abbey, your information needs sorting & your staff need retraining in customer service skills.

Quite a limited menu but we chose a cheese &tomato quiche, served with chips and salad and a pasty and chips. Expected a slice of quiche but got a tiny round quiche, 2cms deep, gone in a couple of mouthfuls. Cheap Iceland chips and small amount of lettuce and onion. The pasty was OK. Poor value really.

We often visit the tea gardens at Quarr Abbey and have always had excellent food and service but not this time. Although we appreciate that the current situation is not ideal and allowances need to be made this experience was so bad we will not return in the foreseeable future .When we arrived we asked when food was being served and were told until 3 with cakes, pasties and drinks available after that, however when we queued and got to the front of the queue a little after 2 the savoury choices left were soup, meat ploughmans and falafel salad . We therefore decided to have a cream tea. This was the worst cream tea we have had on the island, the cream and butter were so hard that as we tried to spread it it turned the stale scone into breadcrumbs, awful!!We really don't understand why a reduced menu is appropriate and sandwiches can't be made in a cafe, how does coronavirus prevent this? The lady meeting and greeting was very nice but the lady on the till was obviously not happy in her work and complained about having to wear her face mask. Good job she isn't a nurse in full PPE.

We turned up to have lunch at what has always previously been one of my favourite places to visit. We queued up like every other coronavirus pandemic abiding citizen. There was a lady in front of us who just wanted a look around the shop and not to order food who was told off for peering around the door and so she had also decided to leave. Once we got to the front of the queue we were asked if we were going into the tea room by a very abrupt member of staff, to which we replied yes. The lady then replied with well you need to fill in track n trace details and you will need a mask/ face covering. No problem, but my partner had forgotten his. So we improvised zipped up his Hoodie and pulled it up over his face, covering from his nose down. We were then abruptly met with the same lady pointing her finger “well they won’t serve you like that” the lady in front of us entered without question of a mask, and she didn’t have one on either. We then decided like the customers in front with such terrible customer service and a quite frankly rude first point of customer contact we would leave and find somewhere else to eat. I totally appreciate that times are different at the moment, we are all adapting to changing situations each day, but there is just no excuse for rudeness. Two customers lost in the space of 5 minutes, I wonder how many it would be throughout the day. My partner even said, had she of not had such a rude manner he would have happily waited outside while I went in to order. Classic case of it’s not what you say it’s how you say it.

No complaints regarding the Abbey itself as we had a lovely afternoon but the shop queue was ridiculous. One in one out policy in place so long waiting time to just buy a fridge magnet. Indoor tea room was closed so 2 tills available, only one used. 4 members of staff working, one doing track and trace along the queue despite only the shop being open, one cooking, one serving (extremely slowly), and one having a good old gossip with the gardener in front of everyone waiting to pay. Also huge queue for the loo (which was not signposted) as 2 out of the 3 were closed.

Otherwise great cafe, reasonable prices, but not friendly, especially during winter months. There are lots of passing dog walkers, but most do not stop because the dogs are not allowed in the cafe and there is no outside seating which is undercover.Staff are not particularly welcoming for dogs, I have the feeling they see them more as an inconvenience and dont want them around. All us dog walkers need is a dry seat outside and a mug of tea during our walk. They have a small balcony area just outside the cafe which is perfect for dogs, but they barrier it off when it is wet because it is slippery. In my opinion would be far better to put a non slip covering on so it can be used even when wet!

Having spent a little time walking round the Abbey, we decided that a light lunch was called for. The Tea Shop is surrounded by greenery and we chose to sit at a table outside. There were one or two things featured on the menu that weren't available (the panini machine wasn't working), but we opted for Brie, Bacon & Cranberry baguettes. Being ladies who lunch on a regular basis, this is something we've tasted at many locations, but the Quarr Abbey offering was head and shoulders above the rest! Exactly the right proportions of ingredients, bacon not too salty, delicious fries and a tasty fresh salad. Service was friendly and efficient and my next visit to the island will definitely involve a lunchtime visit to Quarr Abbey.

What is not to love about Quarr Abbey? The serenity and warmth of course, but now, having spent nearly a week comparing coffee and walnut cake offerings all over the IoW, I declare Quarr Abbey's tea shop the winner. It serves very decent tea in a pot, with milk in a jug and will re-fill your teapot with boiling water upon request. Also, do not pass up taking away a jar of Quarr Abbey produced Loganberry Curd (whoops - best kept secret, I hope there'll be some left for my next visit :)

I had a couple of hours to while away as I waited to catch the lunchtime ferry and what better place than Quarr Abbey. There were plenty of car parking spaces and entry is free. A gentle stroll through the beautiful grounds brought me to the rustic Abbey Teashop. I chose an outside table as I only wanted a coffee, but around me diners were tucking into some amazing-looking cooked breakfasts. There is a shop within the cafe selling Abbey and local products. There is also another shop selling books, cards and verses. While I was there, there was an art exhibition of really lovely paintings and prints with the artist there to talk about them. I enjoyed a woodland walk, where I was hoping to see red squirrels, but they did not show up. I was told that early morning is the best time to spot them. Well worth a visit especially on a sunny day. We only had time to stop for a coffee but it was delicious and service was prompt. It was lovely to sit outside in the sunshine and it was very peaceful and comfortable

Wonderful peaceful place just to wallow with the pigs, a walk around and if required, solitude in the chapel. The tea shop is a good way to finish. For me the gluten/dairy free courgette and avocado cake was superb.

Great location on a nice day but could be so much better.....coffee needs improving and cakes are dry and not at all good.....could be such a lovely place if they would home bake some fresh cakes.

This tea room / cafe has really been turned around in recent months by a new manageress and her trusted chef ‘Kristen’ who make you feel so welcome ( and your four legged friends although outside only sadly)

We visited after a tour of the abbey and had just hot chocolate and cake. There were not many people there so quick service. There are a lot of tables and chairs outside with blankets to keep you warm - nice thoughtful touch. What really surprised me was that it’s a Benedictine Abbey and there was no Benedictine liqueur on sale. There are lots of other brands of alcohol and gin. I asked the lady at the shop and she so one had ever asked her that and didn’t know why no Benedictine. I seems an opportunity missed because I would have bought a bottle as a memory of our visit.

In fine weather, there is an attractive garden with tables and in colder weather, the cafe and shop is a relaxing environment with an enthusiastic and helpful staff team. The shop includes a great deal of local produce which provide inspiration for seasonal gifts. Cakes may no longer be home made but they are good quality and in generous portions. If you time it right, you can enjoy one of the short pieces of sung worship in the Abbey Church and you may be lucky enough to encounter an artist's exhibition in the courtyard and the chance to talk to the artist in person. The visitor centre, the bookshop and the resident pigs all add to the visit (in autumn, you can buy bags of apples from the cafe to feed the pigs and, at other times, pig nuts). There are enjoyable woodland walks with glimpses of the Solent and a path to the pub at Fishbourne.

We visited Quarr Abbey on our way back to the ferry. We arrived there at about 1.30pm, the weather was beautiful for October 22°.

Good tea shop offering a range of food, you can sit inside and outside (if you have a dog with you). Plenty of space and nice setting the only problem we had was the coach trips that fill the place resulting in a lack of food.

Peaceful garden to enjoy a cuppa and cake. For a small place the choice was good and reasonable prices. The farm shop aspect was great too as I like to buy local.

On the way to the ferry pulled in for a light lunch. We enjoyed really nice quiche and salad. Because it was so hot outside went inside which was surprisingly comfortable.

I love to go here if only because it is so peaceful, even when it is busy. The cakes are delicious and the coffee is always good. Always good to see the pigs afterwards too! Just wish it wasn't quite so expensive - I'd go more often!

A lovely place to go for tea and cakes - a tranquil setting, attractive garden and beautiful Abbey architecture. We can highly recommend the mint choc slice and the hummingbird (banana and pineapple) cake - the others looked good too so hope to manage a return visit while here on holiday.

From the outset the bar staff were friendly and helpful and could not be faulted the food was exquisite and the portion sizes were just right , the value for money was spot on. The ambiance with the view over the Solent as the sun went down was captivating Thank you Seaview Hotel for a memorable evening

We enjoyed a visit to the botanical gardens & decided to stop in to their cafe /restaurant for a bite to eat I must say that the views were stunning looking out onto the gardens , we were lucky enough to get a table on the veranda where a local choir were singing & it made our day The food menu is quite limited but there were a nice selection of cakes available & lots of unusual teas too The food we did order was delicious .. but they were small portions for the price ( I must admit it was one our most expensive eats while on the isle of wight!) All in all a great setting to enjoy a cup of tea & drink but maybe wouldn’t go back for food

Fantastic! Welcomed in with a friendly smile, the ladies were lovely at all times. Hot drinks all tasty, served with a cute little biscuit on the side. I had the steak burger, which came in a toasty hot bun, with proper grated cheese on top & between the two burgers that melted beautifully. This was served with chips & salad. It all tasted so good. Highly recommend, we'll be back soon :-)
