Booked back in October for the festive lunch with a group of friends. Drinks on arrival didn’t turn up to the table for a good 45 minutes after then only 2 came, eventually the others came with the hot drinks, followed by the children’s food. The restaurant was relatively busy upon arrival and the staff were busy, and table not ready. The food came out, it looked lovely but in all honesty for £27 it wasn’t that nice, we had 3 sandwich fingers with festive fillings, 2 scones one plain, one cranberry and a selection of mini cakes that all tasted of mince pies (they did look good though) The restaurant it self was beautifully decorated with a lovely atmosphere and was warm (a little too warm for me but the staff did open the door for us, which was nice.) I’m not sure I’d return as although the atmosphere and staff were lovely, I had to get up to ask for drinks, spoons for deserts and even get my own menu and the wait was long as the restaurant went quiet before our food came out which was all cold anyway, so not sure on why the wait.

Chose this eatery as it looked nice from the outside. Opted for the liver and bacon on mash potato, ample portion and cooked to perfection, very tasty, washed down with a cup of tea. Dessert was sponge and custard, lovely and more than ample custard. So impressed I took away a large piece of their quiche and a couple of cheese scones for later, also good. Great staff/service at this venue and will definitely return to try the breakfast .

I love a good sandwich or baguette for my lunch. I lament the quality of sandwiches and baguettes available today-limp, tasteless, flavourless, you know who you are big supermarkets-as for the corner shop variety, the least said, the better-listeria factories...so a treat to discover Le Petit Pain on an all too rare trip to Emsworth-its clean and bright inside, plenty on offer (the options are so numerous, its like reading a small book) and a friendly welcome-plus the freshest and most tasteful egg mayo and salad baguette I have had in years. Repeat customer now. Thankyou.

A great little spot for a very good cup of coffee and a snack. Has a little group of picnic tables. The price for the coffee is reasonable.

We used this venue for our wedding reception as it was where my husband and I met. Maxine was amazing ,nothing was too much trouble. Her staff were exceptional, welcoming us every time we 'popped' in to check on something. Food was promptly served, all idiosyncrosies were delt without fuss. All in all a very special occasion, so much so we rebooked for a meal to celebrate with friends Thank you Maxine and staff.

Fantastic little pub. Great atmosphere, excellent staff and the food was exceptional. We happened to stop off for a bite to eat and we got the last table on Friday night. A very cosy and friendly setting with a great selection of food and drinks. I would highly recommend a visit if your in the area.

I just had another fantastic 3 course meal from their Christmas menu this evening with a group of friends. Just the best service, the food was delicious and plentiful so much so I've booked to go again before Christmas on 15 Dec with another group of friends. An unsuspecting gem of a good food pub from the outside not to be missed if you are ever in Emsworth.

Great breakfast and bacon rolls that we always enjoy. This is our favourite stop off for breakfast when out on a bike ride. Always tasty and good quality food. One morning we were too late for breakfast by 5 mins and had toasted sandwiches instead. We won’t have those.again as it was really thin bread so was a bit disappointing for the price, was more salad garnish on the plate than sandwich and that’s not what we wanted. Tasty sandwich but would be better with thicker chunky bread.

Decided to try Coastguard after reading reviews and have to say that overall it is well worth a visit. We had small portions of cod, chips and peas which was delicious- lovely crispy batter! A log fire was burning although I don’t think it had been going for long as it was still on the cool side in the restaurant. The only downside was the tea - to be honest it was pretty awful and I suggest you avoid it completely.
