I just had another fantastic 3 course meal from their Christmas menu this evening with a group of friends. Just the best service, the food was delicious and plentiful so much so I've booked to go again before Christmas on 15 Dec with another group of friends. An unsuspecting gem of a good food pub from the outside not to be missed if you are ever in Emsworth.

Hadn't been here before. Quaint cosy pub. We didn't eat here but it was lunch time and very busy and the food looked nice with decent sized portions. It was obvious that they look after their beer because I had a very nice pint of Doom bar. Not that local to me but if I'm in the area again I'll definitely be in for a pint.

We had the most wonderful meal last night at the Blue Bell. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and cozy—a perfect spot to catch up with my mum. I started with the scallops, and they were amazing as usual. The scallops were perfectly seared and tender, paired with chorizo and fresh salad that really let the quality of the seafood shine. My mum’s starter was equally delicious. For the main course, I opted for the prawns. If you haven't been to the Blue Bell before you just have to try them, the sauce they are cooked in is incredible. My mum enjoyed a classic burger. It was cooked just right, with all the classic trimmings done to perfection. The Blue Bell have always valued quality ingredients and attention to detail. The service was as lovely as the food—attentive, friendly, and truly warm. The Blue Bell has that authentic, local touch and that is why I go back time and time again. Highly recommended!

Needless to say. Worse than ever experience! We did not care that the seats were covered in ductape until we received our orders, which were overpriced and unfortunately inedible... we ordered the pate as starters (must have been from last century rotting) followed by the rubber scallops, unwashed salad that tasted soggy and old, camambert that was meant to be grilled but was only microwaved, burger with raw bunn and overcooked chewybeef. It was so underwhelming, but the staff was not striked by our comment, they tried their best to smile through it! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

A small pub that gets busy with builders from about 4pm onwards, making it a tight squeeze getting to the bar, where they all sit. Fair price for drinks especially during happy hour. Most table's are reserved for diner's from about 7pm. So be prepared to give up the table from that time onwards.

I just wanted to say a huge well done to the Blue Bell. I have coeliac disease and have to follow a strict gluten free diet. The bar staff were so knowledgeable about their menu and the things that they could adapt for me. I chose the fish and chips meal. Giles made a gluten free batter and cooked both in a separate fryer so there was no risk of cross contamination. It was delicious, the batter was light and crispy. A really great experience. Whilst the standard of food and ambience was not disappointing it was just the little things of service. Not very attentive and failed to inform us kitchen was closing so no desert was offered when we were looking forward to it. So this may sound picky but if the service is not right whatever the standard of your meal you always remember how it was delivered.

We are so disappointed today we love to come here for a roast, Today our dinners came out cold first the waitress scooped the sweed off our plate’s and took it to be reheated then we realised the meat was also cold when the waitress came back we told her she took our plates out to the kitchen and I saw Giles waving his hands in the air then she came back with dinners and said the chef refused to re heat them there was a couple on the table next to us who had the same problem, ?? we were all so shocked at the attitude it of the chef who didn’t come out to tell us himself. We asked if we could speak to him and she said he was too busy, ! We couldn’t believe it. If we weren’t so hungry and thinking that we would most likely not get another roast anywhere else at this time would have just given it back.when the waitress came back to take our half eaten meals I asked if we would a discount as we had to sit and eat cold dinner and the waitress said no he won’t do that I’m afraid. Unbelievable really bad service Giles, (Sorry Charlotte but it really wasn’t good service at all 😡😡😡) we left with the other couple arguing with the poor waitress about their cold dinner ! Giles, I have just read you read your reply to my review, I just want to say we were not rude we just asked when we paid if we would get a discount as we had to eat a cold dinner. So we never as you so rudely said (Threw our toys out the pram) Also we never had our dinner for 10 minutes we told the waitress as soon as we took the first mouthful. The sweed was not just warm it was very cold like you had not heated at all we weren’t just being fussy. You did re heated that but as soon as we tried the meat that was also cold and you refused to re heat it so you never rectified the problem as you have said. There was a lady and her daughter sat on the next table to us had the same issue. Who ended up arguing with your waitress this was not us so I think you have your wires crossed. You can ask your waitress if you do not beleive what we are saying. We certainly never caused a seen as you say. That was the other couple.who was still arguing as we left. We asked to see you as we were going to say that we didn’t mind if you popped it it in the microwave but we were told you were too busy to come out. We paid and left and I can assure you we never upset any of you other customers. You’re not telling the truth because as you know we were not the only ones who had this issue This is the truth !

Lovely staff with a warm welcome. We came in for lunch which we had booked for, nice atmosphere and the menu has a wide selection. We all ordered sandwiches and a cup of soup for an extra £1.50. However we ended up waiting an hour for our food. Considering the sandwiches, apart from a bit of rare steak, there wasn’t anything to actually be cooked as it should be prepared ready anyway, not really acceptable to waiting that long. I had the prawn and crayfish sandwich, taste was nice however the rosemary sauce was very runny and so made the sandwich soggy and awkward to eat. The crab sandwich was also a bit like a runny paste. The coleslaw was tasty and the soup was delicious. About 40 minutes into our wait for food one of the servers came and apologised for the wait and that the chef was really busy, however didn’t look as though there was plate after plate being served to customers… overall was quite a nice visit but would have preferred a more honest reason why it took an hour for prepared sandwiches and soup.

I have been a regular customers for years. Can’t believe I have paid £8 for a large piece of hard greasy batter that contained the smallest piece of tail end fish. Will go elsewhere in future.

We had a lovely weekend stay at the Brookfield hotel. We had a function on the Saturday night which was a 7 course meal and I have to say I was blown away with the service and the reassurance of my gluten free options, I could literally have exactly the same dishes as everyone else with just a couple of tweaks I couldn’t believe it! A lovely gentleman served me who I think was a manager (I am so sorry I cannot remember his name) which made me feel so looked after as it can be daunting eating out somewhere new! All staff were helpful and made the evening run smoothly it was very professional! The room was basic but clean and had everything we needed, the only thing I would say is more plug sockets but that’s not the end of the world! Also it was a bit expensive for room service as a sausage and bacon sandwich ended up being £13.45 including tray service but again with inflation maybe that’s why it was that much! Apart from that there was plenty of parking at a small charge and the hotel was easy to get around. Thank you for looking after us, it was the best meal I’ve had as a coeliac plus the most I’ve ever been able to eat!

This may have once been a good restaurant but it no longer is. The food was at best average and at worst inedible. Whilst the food was cooked reasonably well (gastro pub standard) the seasoning made three of our four dishes inedible. A tip for the chef: if you can taste salt, you’ve over-seasoned. If your mouth dries from the salt, you’ve failed entirely. For the cost of the meal, it is reasonable to expect a chef who can cook - seasoning and all - to a very high standard. This failed to reach that bar at any time. I’ve paid much, much less and eaten far, far better many times before. Avoid.
