Accidently found this hidden gem. Amazing quality of food, had breakfast, was lovely, lots of staff to serve, polite, smart, quick food, got busy quick so we were definitely lucky to find it just before it opened. Lovely and friendly for kids and dogs too. Definitely now one of my favourite venues.

One vegetarian option on the brunch menu, nothing plant based. Clearly need to make more effort in having veggie options but have instead put a note on the menu not to try and alter the dishes which people probably do because their options are so limited. Even simple things like pancakes are only available with bacon?! And egg Benedict with ham and smk salmon available but no spinach, could just make very easy changes to offer more than one option. Service lacklustre; for example I got up to use the loo and came back to find somebody had obviously gone to clear my table then realised I was still there but they’d dropped my wrapped biscuit in my tea and just left it in there and not acknowledged it?! Very odd behaviour.

After a bad experience at another cafe I came to Driftwood. As a single person with a dog they were extremely accommodating and bought my furry friend water as they showed us our table. I would highly recommend the Greek yoghurt and granola, the poach pear was so tasty. Thanks for a great experience!

From the moment you cross the threshold to this super cafe, you feel welcomed. Smiley, warm staff greet and there is the gentle hum of chat (only one twentysomething barking into his mobile with no social manners). Food is delicious, my fave is the Farm Breakfast, healthy and scrummy. It gets busy so pick your time…. It’s a popular place. Already planning a return when the rain stops.

First time here and pleasently surprised. Really good food and very filling. We had the chicken sandwiches and the crab quiche. We didn't have to wait at all, and the staff were very polite and attentive. There are three seating areas and two inside and one outside. The one at the far back has a heater and is very nice and warm. The chairs have cushions on them n blankets, so if you're a bit chilling, you can get warm and feel cosy. These are nice touches, and I feel this does make it nicer than other places. They are not only making it look nicer but also thinking about customers who may feel the cold quicker than others like myself. We will definitely be going again.

My wife and I have been customers of Driftwood for many visits over the last few years. Last Sunday 7th July we with our two small dogs took our two friends and their cockapoo for a light lunch. Weather wise it was none too special but the afternoon picked up so we were looking forward to our visit. Unfortunately much to our disappointment we arrived and were greeted not very welcoming by a lady we had not seen before and soon realised that since our last visit it must have attained a new owner. She had a foreign accent and said how many? We said four please and our dogs. We can’t give you a seat inside and if it rains you will have to stay outside!! She was very abrupt and unwelcoming. This immediately made us feel uncomfortable. She took us to the courtyard garden and we chose what we wanted from the menu which included a quiche salad a crab sandwich three teas and cappuccino. We were thinking we would also have had cake or desert to follow but after taking another look at the menu we’re really shocked at how the prices had rocketed since our last visit. I mean £8.25 for soup!! really!! The crab sandwich was over£14 without anything else and the final bill was over £62!! When we had finished eating my wife moved her chair away from the table and put our little rescue dog on her lap as she gets a bit spooked when a dog which was next door got a bit noisy. This lady whom we suspect was the owner pounced and said put the dog down on the ground. My wife only kept quiet because we had our friends with us but she really was considerably rude. We don’t feel she is a dog friendly person and really made us feel uncomfortable. If she wants driftwood to be a Michelin style establishment she should move elsewhere because this once lovely venue is now not so lovely. The lady concerned really needs to improve on her customer service skills. Also a warning to future customers to beware that this once friendly place is now not and is very over priced!!!!

I had never been to Emsworth as I live some distance away, however My Mum doesn't and off we went for a spot of lunch and I wasn't disappointed what a great find! I have a little dog and she goes everywhere she can with me so what a treat when she could accompany me to the cafe. To be clear, the cafe is split into 3 sections, indoors the main cafe, the patio (which is open and not covered) and then at the end of the patio the pod, for those rainy days or to get out of the cold (there is a lovely woodburner to keep the chills at bay) The main indoor cafe is dog free, which you can appreciate not everyone will adore your darling pooch, the patio and the pods are dog friendly, thats well behaved dogs! Both the patio and the pod have blankets too, a really thoughtful extra! The food is fantastics, and a varied menu, as a vegetarian I have no problem with choice! The staff are great, accommodating and use their common sense when seating you! We've been a few times now and I can't wait to go back especially as I've just seen another review with a very enticing hot chocolate! If you're in Emsworth it's definitely the place to go, you may have a small wait during the very busy times, trust me it's worth it!

I don’t quite get why it’s so busy as there are many other breakfast options in Emsworth. I could not really relax during my meal as there was a queue of people outside staring through the window whilst waiting for a table and some overexcited people talking/shouting inside, dogs barking etc ..on the plus side the little garden room at the back looks great a nice addition

Both our orders arrived promptly despite being very busy on a Sunday morning. There’s no sign saying not to let dogs wee there, also place said it’s dog friendly. She even told the old woman not to put the dog on her lap while she’s sitting on a chair. I don’t mind if they tell you in a polite manner.. but the way she spoke was very unwelcoming. Food does not taste great anyway. The staff are well mannered, bright young girls but by no means amateurs. They are pleasant, efficient and have been well trained. There’s an interesting option of having a cup of soup with some of the choices. There are plenty of staff and the service is fast but not hurried. Also the place is bigger than you think with an outside courtyard and at the far end a glass fronted extension with log burner stove that we want to try next time. I shouldn’t be raving about Driftwood as this is what a café should be but unfortunately rarely are. We’ve been to Emsworth many times and missed this place as it’s just a bit further from the square; but we won’t be going anywhere else in future - and it’s licensed !!

I never write a poor review. I always look for the good and to others’ perspectives. But my experience here was so below standard I feel it’s important to share and for managers to learn. We arrived for a breakfast and the waitress was warm and welcoming. We were instantly drawn to ‘Kay’ the manager’s energy as she waltzed around dressed all in black like a black cloud around the place. Snapping and being short with the team who appeared timid and by our views- were doing their best. The manager made everyone in the ‘pod’ feel uncomfortable the way she came in and out like on patrol. Her energy and vibe was tense and unfriendly and customers on different tables were locking eyes and noticing this. When we went to pay we smiled and thanked her and she stuck her nose in the air and turned her cheek. Not the charm and culture that encompasses Emsworth. Management need training from the rest of the team who we all agreed need a medal for being in the receiving ended of her diva-energy. Uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Lunch of Fresh Orange Juice, beer for my wife and two "Winter Toasties". A delicious concoction of Chicken / Turkey with Cranberry and a beautiful, well dressed, Salad. Service good, as ever and, warm and toasty within - apart from the monsoon outside. The negative note came with the Coffee. I am a non Tea drinking Coffee addict, and Macciato is my chosen brew. An independent cafe that is always worth a visit. Is it the best in Emsworth? Will leave you to decide.

I have been here multiple times now and absolutely love it! Whether it's breakfast or lunch, there is always some lovely food to choose from (and cake!!). The service was a 4 this time only because I asked for some cakes to be put in a takeaway bag for me and for some reason she made me stand outside and then took ages to actually bring them out, I had to go back in and they were just on the side melting away... However the cakes were amazing!

I went to pay for lunch and was surprised by the price as it was obviously not right. I queried it politely with them but the senior staff member seemed unable to find our itemised bill. She got a calculator to work out the cost...

Prebooked a table for 3 but big fuss about the table on arrival. Food was average in quality and taste, coffee lukewarm. Over hyped.

This is a very popular cafe in Emsworth due to the quality of the produce used in its dishes. Prices are a little on the high side to reflect this. It's always welcoming and food is always delicious. Lovely pot of tea, served quickly. I would recommend a visit when having a wander around the Mill pond and small shopping area.

Tried to book for a 93rd birthday but was told in an unfriendly manner they don’t take bookings - not impressed!

Popped in late morning after a walk around Emsworth. Very enjoyable food and the best coffee I have had in a long long time. Even our dog was on her best behaviour. Definitely go back again before we return home.

Received a takeaway on 08/09 from Mother Kelly's - after a long hiatus (having moved areas). Pleased to report that they were on the money. The food was fresh and piping hot; and the portion sizes were ample. In the past, they did seem to lack a little consistency, so I am hoping this high quality - experienced recently - will continue into the future.

Chose this eatery as it looked nice from the outside. Opted for the liver and bacon on mash potato, ample portion and cooked to perfection, very tasty, washed down with a cup of tea. Dessert was sponge and custard, lovely and more than ample custard. So impressed I took away a large piece of their quiche and a couple of cheese scones for later, also good. Great staff/service at this venue and will definitely return to try the breakfast .

Popped in a few times for breakfast, drinks and ice creams. Perfectly situated for stopping off on walks up and down the beach, reasonably priced, and a friendly welcoming service. Would recommend!
