Fresh fish freshly cooked to order - nice light batter too. Genuine chip-shop chips, not French fries. Friendly efficient staff. And at £11 for a large haddock and small chips it was less than I expected. Great food and great value.

If you can fight your way through the loudmouths crowding and sounding off at the bar you may get able to get yourself a pint. I've been in twice, watched the regulars at the bar get served before everyone else and ended up walking out. Pizza from Hungry Jasmine is exceptional though.

Initial impressions very good, lovely situated pub with good seating outside on Sun terrace in late afternoon and evening. Met by Bar staff who showed us the room , no instructions regards logistics of place, given keys to work out ( one key was for room other for fire exit when pub locked at night we worked out next morning. Room quite tired needs an uplift, only one towel, no bulb in bedside light and en suite had broken tiles and crack running through sink. Ate at pub, Nepalese food very good but had to return other food as not warm enough (twice) kindly they did not charge for this, have to say staff were very good throughout. We arranged with them for a 7.45 breakfast as we were travelling to London at 9.00 and they said they would open up specially… we went off to bed quite happy with that. I think there are 4 bedrooms all on same corridor above pub, pub noise was no issue, however it appears every room has creaky flooring and paper thin walls, despite persons not intentionally making noise it was very difficult to sleep, think it was about 5 hours of sleep between last ones getting to bed and us having to get up at 6.45am. Next morning we waited until 8.00 unable to access the pub and no sign of life within kitchen entrance… headed off with no breakfast. Paid for a 2 night stay but left before staying 2nd. Could be a fantastic place just needs a bit TLC in some areas and customer service improvements.

Some kind of joke. Booked a table for Fathers Day at 12pm. Seemed ominous when we arrived (10 mile Journey with 2 kids) and it was still closed at 11:55 with no sign of any life from within or the kitchen. Sat in garden until 12:10 then called them. Apparently “Jane usually opens before 12”, and “who said we’re closed?”. Could take no more of the farcical situation and left to find a place with far more accommodating staff with a level of competence. I’m sure this place may have been good at some point in time but whoever runs it now clearly has either zero customer care or is being seriously let down by whoever should be running it. The gardener is doing a great job though!!

Rowan is our local Garden Centre and we visit often to buy good quality plants, garden furniture and gifts. They have recently built a new cafe, which looks lovely, but unfortunately does not allow customers to sit inside if they are accompanied by their dog. There are a number of tables outside, but only a few are positioned in the sun and there is no outside heating provided. They do offer a few blankets for customers to use, but there are not enough to go round. Sadly there have been a number of occasions when my partner and myself have walked to Rowan with our dog, hoping to stop for coffee or lunch, only to leave feeling disappointed as no suitable seating has been available…..as happened this morning - the sun was shining, but all the tables receiving it’s warmth had been taken (mainly by customers without a dog) and it was simply too cold to sit under the shelter. Inside the cafe were many empty tables which were useless for us as we were not allowed to sit there with our well behaved Labrador. Such a shame.

I recently visited The Golden Eagle in Ashley Green with a group of friends, and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was unbelievable—especially the Sunday roast, which was hands down the best I've ever had. Each dish was crafted with care, blending traditional British flavors with a modern twist. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for gathering with friends. The customer service was exceptional; the staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. It's clear that the team takes pride in providing top-notch service and cuisine. If you're in the Chesham area and looking for a place that offers delicious food, excellent service, and a cozy ambiance, The Golden Eagle is a must-visit. I can't wait to return!

Terrible experience. We used to go here before it changed management and sadly it has gone down hill. The food was awful. We ordered the chicken wings which advise you can pick a flavour then a dip yet they come out plain and dry fried with no sauce and had to ask for a dip and which is not as described. The burger was one of the worst burgers you could have, it was watery and cheap tasting and when we sent it back they advised it was frozen so thats why it was watery which isn't what you expect for a £17 burger. Even the ketchup was cheap and watered down. Dont know about the rooms hense the one star.
