Went there while walking our dog on Monday evening, looking forward to a drink on the front terrace. Walked through the front gate, with our dog on a lead, when two barking dogs came running from the pub. Both were off their leads and out of control and the larger one 'went for' our dog. Very unwelcoming. We decided to leave straight away and went to another pub. No-one seemed bothered. Disappointing as a few weeks ago there was a sign on the front door requesting that dogs be kept on leads. Won't be hurrying back.

We were a party of 15 adults and children. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had the scampi just perfect and the chips were hot.

Service was long and tedious even when not busy at all. Food was foul. Gammon was an odd colour and the chefs hair as an added extra. Couldn't be their hair though as they all take precautions apparently. Rude beyond belief. Only good reviews are from people who have propped the bar up over the years!

We enjoyed the classic atmosphere in the pub & were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the carvery ... It’ a self serve & we had the choice if lamb, gammon & turkey. Nice thick slices of meat, awesome roasties, Yorkshire puds, stuffing & steamed vegetables. The desserts were absolutely delicious - an overall feeling of a homemade roast, thoroughly enjoyed ... Thank you 🤗

This pub is on Bellingdon Road and is a true masterpiece of an old local. There are two bars, the public and lounge; the public bar has a pool table in it and is much less well used than the lounge, which has a wonderful array of bits and pieces adorning the walls. It even has a corner dedicated to Alfred Alexander Burt - a local man who won the VC and lived to tell the tale! The pub has a wide range of activities and games, being a member of numerous local leagues. It aslo offers accommodation and cooked food, which is available 7 days a week

Interesting ambience with memorabilia. Efficient bar staff, a very local pub with history and great that the current landlords are welcoming.

Very enjoyable Sunday visit in a cosy quiet area near the Carvery serving utility. The Carvery served three different roast meats, lots of different freshly cooked vegetables including cauliflower cheese, crisp roast potatoes and all the trimmings. It was very tasty and well presented with option for second portions if desired. Excellent value for money. Well recommended but book to avoid disappointment.

We have just got back from Sunday lunch at the Gamekeepers. We had called in advance to make sure my Mum, who has coeliac disease, would be able to eat. Pat went above the call of duty, preparing gluten free gravy and yorkshire puddings and even putting together a gluten free dessert. It was such a treat for my Mum who often gets stuck eating dry meat and veg at carveries. The non gluten free food was all delicious too, and the atmosphere is always so welcoming and homely.

Being on the other side of town I rarely visit this pub but since the new year when the pub started doing a carvery on a Sunday the local community have been raving about it. Well today myself and a few friends got around to finally trying it. It was gorgeous. There was turkey, lamb and beef on offer and the lady lady carving the meat said we could have one or all of the meats so I went for all as did most of my friends and I'm glad I did. Normally going to a carvery you get a couple of slices of meat. We were given 3 slices of each meat!!!! Plus unlike other carveries you help yourself to yorkshire puddings instead of just being given 1. There were 3 vegetables on offer. I don't like peas and carrots so normally I'm just stuck with the third option. Today I could have carrots, broccoli and cabbage so for a change I got 2 out of the 3. The land lady is very friendly and I will definitely be going here for Sunday dinner again. I would recommend you book in advance though as it is very popular

This pub said there was a live band playing on Saturday so we decided to go there. No live band , staff said it was a error and there was a wedding out back. So stayed for 2 drinks. It was like a museum , with old photos of Chesham and all kinds of ornaments and pictures , deer heads and all sorts of things on display regarding a gamekeepers lodge of memorabilia.

Some kind of joke. Booked a table for Fathers Day at 12pm. Seemed ominous when we arrived (10 mile Journey with 2 kids) and it was still closed at 11:55 with no sign of any life from within or the kitchen. Sat in garden until 12:10 then called them. Apparently “Jane usually opens before 12”, and “who said we’re closed?”. Could take no more of the farcical situation and left to find a place with far more accommodating staff with a level of competence. I’m sure this place may have been good at some point in time but whoever runs it now clearly has either zero customer care or is being seriously let down by whoever should be running it. The gardener is doing a great job though!!

The food was nice enough but we were put off by the floor that clearly hasn’t had a good scrub in years.

It is a beautiful, warm, and inviting venue with fantastic food and great service. The resident chef definitely knows his stuff. I had the classic sausage and mash. It was brilliant. The deserts were also amazing. Thank you.

Met my brother for lunch, half way for both of us. Well worth 160 mile round trip. Both the calamari and mussels starter were delicious. I would go as far as to say the mussels were the best I've ever tasted. I opted for fish and chips main. The quality of the fish was sublime, big fat chunky flakes of cod, almost creamy in texture that melted in my mouth. My brother ordered the seabass, after clearing his plate he commented, perfect sized portion. I even managed dessert , albeit out of nothing more than pure gluttonous greed. The cherry tart also received a well deserved thumbs up. Loved the atmosphere, especially the amount of dogs in the bar. Little gem of a place.
