It is a beautiful, warm, and inviting venue with fantastic food and great service. The resident chef definitely knows his stuff. I had the classic sausage and mash. It was brilliant. The deserts were also amazing. Thank you.

I was celebrating with my parents on getting my first flat. We chose here and it was lovely. The atmosphere was super cosy, and really cute. Felt like Christmas…… and I love that. Food was delicious. I had the chicken, ham and leek pie. On a miserable rainy day this was perfect. Service was good, came quick. Would come back again.

Party of 23 so we pre-ordered, Izzie and her staff couldnt have been more helpful. We had the room out the back, were set up with tabs to make payng easier, starters came out all togehter and hot same with the mains. There were no complaints with food from anyone. The staff went above and beyond to make it a special night before the wedding we were attending. Thoroughtly recommend this is the second time we have eaten there and both times excellent.

I dined at The Cross Keys with my husband yesterday lunchtime. The food was amazing and delicious from start to finish. The Whitebait tasted so fresh and crisp, I had the Bubble & Squeak which was hearty, whilst my husband had a Steak Sandwich cooked to perfection and raved about the tasty chips. I would thoroughly recommend the Banoffe Pie, which we shared after being too full to squeeze any more in. The portion sizes and price were excellent, definitely worth a visit.

We had lunch here in half-term with children and grandparents. At lunchtime, there are options like: sandwiches, pizza and burgers. Each section has a vegetarian option, although, some things can be adapted for vegan diets. I noticed that gluten -free bread was available. There were lots of staff members and every single one was polite and friendly. The pub is not ideal for wheelchairs.

1st time visit since the revamped dining room and menu was introduced. The ambience has always been good here and we were further impressed by the rustic church candles and small vases of pretty flowers on each table. The service was excellent - our young waitress was welcoming, courteous and helpful. My food order was a mixed bag though - the Chicken Ham and Leek pie was bland, no discernible leeks or ham, and pie casing not as crisp as it should be, which are all the hallmarks of being a bought-in product served from the microwave. The accompanying potatoes and vegetables however were cooked perfectly, nicely seasoned and delicious. Small detail - condiments were served in a tiny paper cup which besides being way too small and more befitting of a motorway service station, is a waste of resource even if it is a recycled product. Served in a mini ramakin is better all round.

We haven’t been to this pub for YEARS. I took my Mum for lunch on a whim and just was blown away by how good it was! We got the last unbooked table in the bar which was lucky as we had our dog with us so couldn’t have sat in the restaurant. The lady who looked after us was Gemma/Jemma, and she was just amazing. She made us feel like she had known us for years, looked after my Mum, and was chatty and fabulous. Mum had the bubble and squeak (without bacon - still enough for a light lunch) and I had “warm masala vegetables” which was served with chick peas. I wasn’t sure what to expect but have pictured below the wonderful dish I was brought. This was £14 and honestly was not only DELICIOUS but really really good value for money. My Mum lives half an hour from Gt Missenden and I live an hour from her but I will certainly be going back there with my mum asap, and especially on a Friday as that is the only day Gemma/Jemma works. Really amazing food and such lovely staff. Can’t praise the Cross Keys enough.

I had organised a parents night out for drinks in the cross keys and dinner a restaurant next door. We went in before and after and we all felt highly unwelcomed by maybe the landlady. She made us feel very uncomfortable and felt like she didn’t really want us there. We’re not youngsters and in mid 40’s, not that matters. She basically told us to go outside (end of November and 1 degrees) and not stand in the bar. We would of understood had it been really really busy, but it wasn’t in the bar or the restaurant. There was 22 people all drinking alcohol, so the pub would make a lot of money. I do wonder if pubs actually want the business sometimes????????? If not, then maybe not work in a pub.

Where do I start? Service was slow, waitress spilt a drink on table and didn't top it up. Ordered kids peperoni pizza but adult one came and was drizzled with chilli oil , it was far too hot for our child so she didnt eat it(they did take it off the bill) . When it came to dessert we mentioned "at least she can fill up on brownie" . There was only 1 child and 1 adult brownie but the waitress went off and came back saying another family had ordered both. So we decided to call it a day. They brought the bill out which had 12.5% service added. What a joke. The waitress was young , looked nervous, didn't smile. Maybe it was her first night? Management need to do some training. The food was OK but I won't be coming back

My friend an I met here just last night for a drink. I can't comment on the food, but all I can say is that the attitude of the manager (a blonde woman in her sixties or older) was utterly appalling. She was moving tables around and we simply asked if we were in her way and if would she like us to move. She responded with an abrupt 'No' and 'I'm just moving tables'. My friend then calmly said 'It was just a question' and she repeated herself with such venom and animosity that we swiftly decided to leave not long after. We told the young blonde girl behind the bar (she was very pleasant) that we wouldn't be returning but thank you for the drinks. She then told the manager what we had said, and the manager shouted over with a simple 'GOOD'. My friend and I visit many pubs in and around the surrounding areas to experience what they have to offer. This is one we won't be coming back to and I will be making sure that I deter others from going to this pub. Never in my life have I felt so unwelcome in such place. It's such a shame considering that rural quintessential British pub culture is dying out at an alarming rate, and if their own staff seem to either lack the skills or common decency to show even the slightest shred of respect to customers then the industry is in real trouble.

A great venue for Sunday Lunch for all the family. We had 7 5 adults and 2 who felt they are adults. We had one gluten-free adult and myself who had a limited appetite because of medical treatment. Firstly compliments go to the staff for the care they took with the gluten-free. I had a beer-cooked haddock and that was cooked perfectly. The other 3 adults had a mixture of Sunday roasts. They were served on a bed of vegetables and again cooked perfectly. The two youngsters had a burger (one said the best-cooked chips he ever had). The other one had a Pizza and need a doggy back to take it home for tea. Followed by a selection of Homemade pudding and junior choices. The delicious crumble and sticky toffee puddings were enjoyed by all. So compliments to the chef and the first class service thank you

Not a great experience, most members of staff were great but the older gentleman really isn't cut out for front of house. Very unwelcoming, pretty much rude and definitely indifferent. Asked for the smaller Sunday roast as per the menu but was told they didn't have any at present...what does that mean the food is plated up and ready to go? Seems that it was as when it arrived, quickly, it was sub par and seemed to have been sitting. Not great for the strangely high prices, took these as a sign we were going to get a quality meal, not so. This would not be achievable of they had any type of competition as it is I imagine they will sail on and with those that think this is what good feels like. Tea came in a dirty tea pot, and comically saw a new member of staff being trained where they were being told to ignore what this gentlemen told them and give customers the decent tea bags. Sadly too late for my grim brew. Overpriced, sub par, super grumpy does not deserve the custom. Two stars for the other staff who were getting on with being hosts.

Seemed ominous when we arrived (10 mile Journey with 2 kids) and it was still closed at 11:55 with no sign of any life from within or the kitchen. Sat in garden until 12:10 then called them. Apparently “Jane usually opens before 12”, and “who said we’re closed?”. Could take no more of the farcical situation and left to find a place with far more accommodating staff with a level of competence. I’m sure this place may have been good at some point in time but whoever runs it now clearly has either zero customer care or is being seriously let down by whoever should be running it. The gardener is doing a great job though!!

The front of house staff were amazing and friendly, really helped with our needs. Unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. The food was not very good, not what it was mentioned to be as described on the menu. The food that was cooked properly tasted very good. Atmosphere was ok but the tables were too close together and the chairs and table we were sat at were very high like bar stools and not very good for children. One of us had to wait for a new meal while everyone else ate. The price was high for what we had to eat and no discount was offered or taken of the bill for the food that was sent back.
