I stayed in the B&B last night and was initially greeted by a very helpful young lady (sorry I didn't get your name) . Room was clean and comfortable with a comfy mattress and good quality clean pillows and bedding. Tea / coffee and biscuits were provided and the bathroom had all of the usual shampoos and both washes. I ate dinner in the bar which was delicious and competitively priced. As a lone traveller I felt safe and comfortable. Waking to the sound of the birds outside was an unexpected positive. Breakfast this morning was again delicious and served by a really friendly young lady. It would have been nice to have either some music or the news on though as it was a bit quiet. A great stay would recommend and will come again. Thank you for your hospitality.

Thank you. We celebrated my Dads passing afterwards at The Potters Arms. We booked the Afternoon Tea for the gathering with some vegan options. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon... and the food, in cosy surroundings. Easy parking, good access and helpful staff. Thank you again for all your help.

I stayed here for one night with my husband and my extended family were in the other 3 rooms, so we took over all the accomodation. We were at a wedding nearby and stayed for bed and breakfast. The rooms were clean and very pleasant with little extras like nice biscuits with the tea and coffee and the staff were lovely and friendly The breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend. Great value for money.

I had the pleasure of staying overnight here at one of the most welcoming and hospitable places I have been too. All the staff are great and very approachable delivering fantastic customer service. The room was very clean and well presented with the full English breakfast ideal to compliment this stay. I will definitely be returning, though this time hopefully spending more time here and sample some of the other items on the menu.

What fantastic service from start to finish. The young gentleman who took care of us was exceptional! He made a simple Saturday pub dinner out into a great evening with a service and friendliness that was welcoming and perfect. We shall look forward to going there again as the food was excellent and good value as well. Thank you.

Our walking group of 9 walkers had lunch at the Potters Arms on Wednesday 7 August 2024. Food was selected from the Brunch, Sourdough and Main menu. The quality and presentation of food was excellent and proportions were generous. All enjoyed their food. This is the third walk we have led from the Potters Arms and all have worked well.

The location is lovely but the food was very disappointing. My husband’s burger was passable but my roasted veg tart with vegan feta was not good. The feta turned out to be a runny sauce covering the tart which made the pastry soggy and looked very unappetising. I could only eat a few mouthfuls. When I complained to the waitress the response was ‘ok, I’ll let the chef know’. We paid for the food in advance at the bar and there was no offer of a refund. We won’t be eating here again I’m afraid

Bit of a let down. Booked for fathers day but it was not a good experience. Had to wait to be eventually acknowledged at the door and shown to our table. Had to wait 20 minutes to have our order taken, followed by 55 minutes for starters to arrive. The mains took a further half an hour to arrive and both the roast beef and roast pork were cold and missing trimmings. The banoffee dessert didn't really taste of anything at all. Not cheap and not good. We will not be returning, sorry.

We had our wedding reception at the potters arms and everything from start to finish was excellent. Richard was always available with all planning queries and the staff did a fantastic job setting everything up, as expected. All our guests had a fantastic time, many mentioned how good the meal was. We were a small group of 26 day guests and then an extra 40 in the evening. Everyone enjoyed themselves and Richard made sure playlists were on, champagne poured and the DJ had everything he needed to get everyone dancing. The bacon rolls were also a huge hit with our evening guests. The staff was very kind and attentive. We stayed overnight, in a lovely, clean room and the included breakfast the next day was delicious and again served by lovely, caring staff. I can highly recommend to book the potters arms for celebrating a special day.

Got to be the worst roast dinner I have ever had. £30 for a roast and drink is scandalous. Carrots still had mud on them from when they was plucked last year. Gravy was about as runny as a drought. £4.50 for a pint of coke!!!!! The pub itself felt like we was in the middle of an auction. I honestly rate Aldi microwave roast dinners better! Staff had the manners of an alley cat. Won’t ever be coming back!

Disappointing meal. Meat in the pies was tough. Chicken was dry. The duck was good. We had good service, and menus quickly changed when we realised that we had different prices in different menus! We wouldn't have had a pudding but we were on a Travelzoo meal deal and decided it would be rude not to. Poached pears turned out to be soggy pears in boiling liquid, alongside a quickly melting blob of ice cream. Overall the quality of food was not good enough to temp us back, what a shame.

I ordered blackened cajun chicken. It was not blackened at all, the chicken was a rolled piece of breast with no flavour at all and quite tough. It had a splodge of rather unpleasant-tasting sauce (seemed like cheap BBQ sauce) on top. Having said that, the chips were very good, and the salad OK. The service was very poor.

We purchased a two course Travelzoo offer last year the food and service were so good we bought another two and have just returned home after and excellent lunch using our second voucher. We had the same Trio of sausages and duck leg with sticky toffee pudding to follow. Couldn't fault the food delirious and hot and even though they were really busy we didn't have to wait long. The gentleman showing us to our table and the lovely lady serving the food were welcoming and polite. We have another voucher and looking forward to returning next month for more of the same .

Well what a welcome at the Potters Arms, there wasn’t one. We arrived and stood at the bar waiting for someone to acknowledge us but I eventually had to attract someone’s attention. We were on a Travelzoo deal. We were eventually shown to a table in the “restaurant” and served our Prosecco. I asked if I could exchange mine for a half of beer but was told no. Starters were ok, but it all went Pete Tong with the mains. I had Steak and Ale pie which looked lovely but was stone cold, and I mean straight out of the fridge! It was quickly reheated and wasn’t that bad but how on earth can a “chef” send out a stone cold meal in the first place. My wife’s fish again was ok, what there was of it hidden in the batter. The waitresses were lovely and tried there best, and offered us a free dessert, but the damage was done. There was absolutely no atmosphere in the place and the Manager never showed his face. I can see why they use deals to get people in there.

We have been to the Potters Arms several times in the last decade and went there on the spur of the moment on Sunday 19/11/23 expecting ( as every time previously) good food . Unfortunately, for some reason, it was so poor it bordered on inedible. My wife managed to slowly eat hers but I am afraid I just left mine ( the "Sunday Lunch") on the plate having only eaten about 10% of it. Despite that, when the plate was collected I was not asked for any feedback (mainly I guess because it was obvious what my response would be ) . Needless to say that will be our last visit to the Potters Arms.

Myself and wife visited the Potter's Arms for a Sunday roast. Online they are advertising a deal for 2 or 3 course meal, when I enquired with the waiter I was informed that it was no longer the case. We both opted for beef, which was beautifully cooked. The roast potatoes were nice as was the parsnip. We like our veg to have a little bite but the small accompanying bowl of cabbage, green beans were really quite under cooked. Never been to the Potters Arms before but looking at the menu there was a good selection of choice. Unfortunately, our starters came to the table nearly after an hour of being seated. We ordered two starters, the king Prawns which unfortunately were over cooked. Calamari was nice. I ordered the Duck for my main course, the veg was served cold and the meat was bland. We had also been forgotten about when it came to cutlery and serviettes, and had to request these. Unfortunately, I had no option but to send my main back as it was not something i was prepared to eat and pay the price for (£19.95). The waitress was lovely and polite and asked if there was anything she could do. I asked if it were possible to have another glass of wine and apologised that I wouldn’t be ordering anything else (I told her I didn’t expect that to be deducted from the bill). 20 mins later she put the bill on the table and walked off. She had forgotten I had ordered a second glass of wine. They had deducted the main course and not included service charge which I was glad about as the overall experience wasn’t great.

The food came out at different times (we got someone else’s starter by mistake which meant my son finished his starter 10 mins before we got ours), one meal was wrong so got sent back (which meant we were one meal missing for 5 mins when everyone else had theirs). We have been to this pub before and always found the food, ambience and service outstanding. However, this visit proved very different. It was a warm summer's evening and the pub was buzzing with guests and a private party. On entering a child just pushed by me nearly sending me tumbling to the floor. I add here my walking is not to good. On entering the restaurant there was nobody to greet us. One barman did notice me standing there but ignored me. The next time he appeared I asked if I was invisible as he had not offered to help. He then said he would be back to help but then thankfully the tall waitress showed me to our table. The only gripe about the food was that all courses were great apart from my coq au van. The chicken breast was red with blood inside and I was glad my loo was the first door on the right when I got home!! Other diners and us were troubled by the guests of the private party, not the music but the constant screaming of their kids. What happened to parental control? I spent including service £126.00 and left rather disappointed.

Some kind of joke. Booked a table for Fathers Day at 12pm. Seemed ominous when we arrived (10 mile Journey with 2 kids) and it was still closed at 11:55 with no sign of any life from within or the kitchen. Sat in garden until 12:10 then called them. Apparently “Jane usually opens before 12”, and “who said we’re closed?”. Could take no more of the farcical situation and left to find a place with far more accommodating staff with a level of competence. I’m sure this place may have been good at some point in time but whoever runs it now clearly has either zero customer care or is being seriously let down by whoever should be running it. The gardener is doing a great job though!!

The food was nice enough but we were put off by the floor that clearly hasn’t had a good scrub in years.

It is a beautiful, warm, and inviting venue with fantastic food and great service. The resident chef definitely knows his stuff. I had the classic sausage and mash. It was brilliant. The deserts were also amazing. Thank you.

Met my brother for lunch, half way for both of us. Well worth 160 mile round trip. Both the calamari and mussels starter were delicious. I would go as far as to say the mussels were the best I've ever tasted. I opted for fish and chips main. The quality of the fish was sublime, big fat chunky flakes of cod, almost creamy in texture that melted in my mouth. My brother ordered the seabass, after clearing his plate he commented, perfect sized portion. I even managed dessert , albeit out of nothing more than pure gluttonous greed. The cherry tart also received a well deserved thumbs up. Loved the atmosphere, especially the amount of dogs in the bar. Little gem of a place.
