The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Everything that’s made here is fresh. The pies and everything are all home made. It takes me back to living with my Nan. The food is first rate every time I order from here.

This place has now closed from 1/1/25. Such a shame as many wonderful reviews. Not particularly highlighted as their booking site still states the restaurant is there.

Second visit here and it didn't disappoint! Loved the carrot, celery and apple soup and the egg mayonnaise sandwiches. Such a friendly, cosy cafe.

the food was lovely but did not rate the nduja pizza, there was hardly any toppings, was not the best pizza

Really good fish, chips, peas and gravy. The batter was light with a great taste. Apparently one of the best in the UK, I would agree 😃

We stayed at the hotel on Saturday night and decided to have dinner in the restaurant, after reading the reviews I wasn't expecting much, how wrong we were, we had the Scallops starter, I had Sea Bass, my wife had baked Cod for our mains and it was top quality, we have eaten in some of the best restaurants in this country and abroad and this was right up there if not better, hats off to the new Chef, brilliant work. Also a big thank you to Barry the hotel manager who works his socks off and looked after us.

Sat outside with my daughter on a glorious day and had delicious food served by excellent waitress- pity you’re so far away

Absolutely lovely café and staff. Everything made to order and fresh. We had the full English breakfast, my husband the veggie version and it was delicious! Lovely setting too. Would highly recommend

Stumbled across this place on a beautiful day after visiting Tarn Howes. Lovely spot to sit outside with glorious views of Coniston and friendly service. The fruit scones with cream and jam were delicious and there was a top up of filter coffee. I believe they do lunches with beef and lamb from their farm. Interesting history. Not dog friendly inside.

I would give more than 5 star if I could ! From the moment we arrived the customer service was on point ! The lovely lady at reception showed us around our room ! Very personal .., loved that ! The room was beautiful see the pictures ! The BED !!! Let me tell you this was one of the best nights sleep I have ever had ! I NEED THESE PILLOWS 🫶 The breakfast! The pictures speak for themselves! If you find yourself in Blackpool! Don’t stay anywhere else !

We spent the night on the way from Suffolk to Cairnryan. Looked good on Booking.com. Found staff very friendly and helpful and dinner and breakfast were good but room was small and dark and M6 provided constant background noise. Also fairlybm chilly as heating wasn’t on and hot towel rail in bathroom was cold.

Popped into Barbetta’s today with a group of four. We were given menus while we waited, then shown to a table once one became available. We ordered four hot drinks and were quietly enjoying them when, out of the blue, a “Reserved” sign was plonked on our table. A member of staff then came over and said, “I’m sorry, this table is reserved so I’m going to get the bill now and I’ll have to ask you to pay.” We were all a bit taken aback — not only were some of us still finishing our drinks, but the way it was said felt incredibly abrupt and quite rude. When I quietly said to my friend that I thought the service had been a bit off, the server overheard and challenged me, asking “Did you think I was rude then?” in a very defensive and confrontational way. She then informed us — only at that point — that they were only serving food today, and implied we shouldn’t have been seated for drinks. At no time were we told this when we arrived or ordered. Had that been made clear, we would have had no issue going elsewhere. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome and like an inconvenience. It’s a shame, really. What could have been a pleasant visit turned into a very uncomfortable experience. Sadly, we won’t be returning — not because of the policy, but because of the way we were spoken to and treated. A bit of basic communication and courtesy would’ve gone a long way.

Well we have waited over a year to visit and it was certainly worth it . Great food, super friendly staff and a great outdoor eating space. Will definitely be back.
