Six by Nico offers a great concept. The food was very good let down by the poor level of service. The staff were all friendly and helpful, I refer to the organisation of food leaving the kitchen which is more noticeably when the majority of the restaurant are having the same 6 courses. The waiter at course two noticed a huge delay, apologised and brought over complimentary drinks. He said our ticket had been missed, but this didn’t resolve the delay with the remaining courses. The table next to us arrived a hour later but received course five at the same time as ourselves. We were in no rush but the confirmation email states you have the table for two hours. We were only half way through in that time. My wife and I would return as the food was good. Maybe we were unlucky on this occasion.

The Albany 8 Old Hall Street, EnglandAs a loyal patron of the Puffin Rooms and a frequent visitor to the adjoining cigar shop, I have always appreciated the ambiance and quality these establishments offered. Unfortunately, my recent experience fell strikingly short of expectations due to significant changes in the staff. The experience began with an unexpectedly cold and unwelcoming reception from the door staff. Once inside, the service only worsened. The waitstaff exhibited a surprisingly poor attitude, marked by rudeness and a distinct lack of accountability when our drink orders were incorrect. There was a palpable sense from some staff members that they would rather be elsewhere, which was particularly evident in how one member addressed my wife. The small female staff member who served our table was unprofessional and displayed an alarming lack of respect when engaging with our party of four. It was abundantly clear that training and experience were lacking across the board, which greatly impacted our enjoyment of the evening. Having spent a considerable amount of money over the years at both the Puffin Rooms and the cigar shop, I expected a level of service that matched the reputation they had built. Unfortunately, this experience was enough to ensure that I will not return. I am deeply disappointed to see such a decline and will no longer trust this venue with my time or patronage.

Wanted to order a vodka martini and was told I could only order their “special” which was a concoction of spices. When asked if I could just have vodka with a splash, I was told “no”. 2. The pizza oven wasn’t working which also included the garlic bread. 3. The food was served at volcanic heat. Literally bubbling, with steam rising a foot in the air. After waiting about 15 minutes to be eatable, we poured the lasagna on another plate and stirred for a few minutes. Unbelievably, the waitress told us it was correctly served. Way too many restaurants in Keswick to eat here.

27 King Street, EnglandStopped here for lunch and I had the hunters chicken ciabatta with sweet potato fries. It was very nice indeed. My only complaint was that I got a bone in the chicken which I was going to point out but no-one came to us to ask how our meal was or to take our dishes away, the staff were upstairs as it was closing time and they were clearing up (I assume). When we went to pay for it the girl didn't ask if everthing was ok or how our meal was so I didn't bother saying anything. It didn't stop me from enjoying my meal or my time spent here.
