I will always go back, delicious food, I do like the concept of the restaurant, a bit noisy, but apart of that I did enjoy

We went for the tasting menu which is a lovely concept. I will say it wasn't the best tasting menu we've ever experienced but the theme was interesting and fun. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was also good for an early evening week day

Went to Hanoi, outstanding from first gretting until leaving the door. Food, service, timing, overall experience, other guests, decor, friendly relaxed atmosphere..... and all of that for a reasonable price (the same thing would be 2x or 3x as expensive in competing restaurants). It’s been a few months since I’ve visited Six By Nico in Liverpool but the Hanoi menu was too tempting to miss and so I booked to take two friends on a Saturday when we opted for a 9 p.m. slot which worked really well as by that time things were winding down slowly and the restaurant wasn’t as lively as it can be. I have said before how much I admire the staff at SBN as, without exception, their front of house people are friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic and deeply knowledgeable about the food and wines they are serving. Heaven knows how they memorise such graphic descriptions of each course as it arrives but their informed introductions are always so helpful. I must however make special mention of Gary and Logan, both of whom went the extra mile in making our evening special, even changing our original table as a result of my completely irrational OCD! We embraced the whole menu, beginning with the most heavenly rum-based aperitif and the “snacks” – shrimp crackers with a peanut sauce and crispy oyster mushrooms with pickled vegetables and a chilli & lemongrass sauce. If you didn’t know they were mushrooms this dish could have been a delicate exotic meat. One of my companions professed a dislike of mushrooms when this dish arrived but thoroughly enjoyed every delicious mouthful. The first course was a shellfish foam that really tastes of the sea with such a deep flavour accompanied by avocado, grapefruit, crispy noodles and wild rice – a mixture of textures and flavours that really worked so well. We followed with a crispy prawn dish with several contrasting accompaniments of varying colours and flavours. I find that these sides add so much to SBN dishes and are testament to the genius of Nico’s creative team and their imagination. The third course was smoked beef with a rich bone marrow sauce, coriander and the crispiest beansprouts. Next came a beautiful serving of cod with a coconut and coriander chutney, Vietnamese curry and bok choy decorated with a tasty crisp strip known as Banh Da. This challenged the mushroom snack as my favourite dish of the evening. Course Five was tamarin glazed succulent chicken breast with a sweet potato hash, burnt mango and a crispy salad. Finally we had another of Nico’s magical desserts, and I speak as someone who is never particularly bothered about dessert. A toasted rice and palm sugar centrepiece was complemented by a lime and ginger mousse and kumquat, all perfectly presented as is the norm at SBN. Even though everyone was busy clearing up, the staff were perfectly happy for us to round off a magnificent meal with a nightcap in the bar area when I settled the bill. Friendly staff can make or break any meal, regardless of the quality of the food. It remains a mystery to me how SBN maintain their prices; £37 for a superior six course tasting menu with a further £30 for matching wines is insanely good value but the result is that Six By Nico is never short of customers and early booking is always essential. Interest is maintained when diners eagerly await the next theme as the menu changes every six weeks, so I look forward next month to experiencing Greece! Once again we had a memorable evening with exquisite food, newly met wines and the best possible service.

Six by Nico offers a great concept. The food was very good let down by the poor level of service. The staff were all friendly and helpful, I refer to the organisation of food leaving the kitchen which is more noticeably when the majority of the restaurant are having the same 6 courses. The waiter at course two noticed a huge delay, apologised and brought over complimentary drinks. He said our ticket had been missed, but this didn’t resolve the delay with the remaining courses. The table next to us arrived a hour later but received course five at the same time as ourselves. We were in no rush but the confirmation email states you have the table for two hours. We were only half way through in that time. My wife and I would return as the food was good. Maybe we were unlucky on this occasion.

Daylight robbery. Not in the traditional sense of the term, for a luxury dining experience, the menu and, to an extent, drinks are good value. However, when I attended recently the careless front of house mistakenly marked my booking as a none attendance, despite us paying in full at the end of our meal. This resulted in the restaurant charging me the full price for two people again 6 days after our booking. Not only this, but after much time spent trying to arrange a refund with the customer relations team they refused to refund this money immediately and instead will be dragging their feet for 10+ days. All staff I have encountered have been pleasant and apologetic, but apologies lack substance when the restaurant is using their cancellation policy to take advantage of their patrons. I would advise caution in trusting them with your card details and definitely keep a close eye on your statement in the week after if you do visit because they can, and apparently will, feign human error when they double charge you and make you work for your money back.

What a fantastic eating experience this was. My wife and I loved this place. Food, service and ambience one of the best I ever experienced. Food was of a very high standard, staff very knowledgeable and friendly and it was great watching a finely tuned, organised kitchen doing their stuff! The Hanoi experience will fondly live in our hearts for a very long time.

Fantastic food, great service and so reasonably priced. We are foodies and love a tasting menu - £37 for a 6 course meal of the the quality we had is unbelievable. Love the themed menus too. We had the Transatlantic Miami to Ibiza menu and it everything was delicious. Thank you to the team at Nico’s for a wonderful evening! We will definitely look to visit again.

Not sure how the two previous reviews only give this a one star rating. It was fabulous and the staff excellent. You dint get massive portions on a 6 taster menu but the wine was probably a 125 measure for each course...Will certainly revisit once the menu changes (every six weeks there is a change) £37 for the food and £30 for the wine. The only "negative" i would say is a service tip is AUTOMATICALLY added at 10% and as our bill for 3 was almost £300 thats a big tip. I left it on this time as it was a family celebration meal but would have it removed at source next time and tip from my wallet

Went to six by nico for my 43rd wedding anniversary, we eat out at least once a week, we were recommended this restaurant by friends, it was a very noisy restaurant , service was slow , the six courses which we ate were minuscule one bit and gone , considering it’s £39 a head before drinks we were both extremely disappointed by the whole experience, we paid and left , we were debating going somewhere else for food , but decided to go home and have a sandwich as we both felt hungry, I will never eat at this establishment again , the portions were so small by the fourth course it was difficult to keep a straight face , it was very funny,especially as the waitress explained what were about to eat , so many ingredients but so so small

My husband was given a voucher a a present for his 50th birthday and we chose to celebrate last night on my birthday. Our expectations were to enjoy both birthdays with our daughter and boyfriend. On arriving we were offered one of two tables as it was very busy. We sat on the one by the kitchen entrance. The table and chairs were a bit wobbly but we put a menu under the legs so all good! My view was of a mop bucket and door not great but we were hear for the food . Our waitress was very informative and explained every course however the food was always cold when it arrived and some of the combinations were confused in texture and taste. The restaurant was very noisy and the food was slow to come out- all in all not great, towards the end I was just wishing it to finish and this kind of food you would expect to be thrilled and not wanting it to end. We finally made the decision to leave before the desert and asked for the bill. The lady who brought the bill took on our complaint and made adjustments to our bill. We received a voucher to go back , but I don’t think we will!

Wow, just wow! Food - phenomenal. Service - wonderful. Atmosphere - perfect. We had the Miami to Ibiza menu with wine pairing which was absolutely faultless. Seriously wish I could visit every 6 weeks for every single menu!! It is not only the food that is second to none, but the price even with wine pairing is really very accessible!

Came for the taste of Hanoi menu. Food was underwhelming. Some taste and texture combinations just did not work, which was a shame as every course was presented beautifully. 1st course was very powerful in taste and texture but not in a pleasant way. Second was very salty. Next few were decent, but not outstanding. The wine we had was great, lovely Picpoul, and the service was exceptional. Waiting staff very knowledgeable of the food, friendly and attentive. For the price paid, I would have expected better food.

Amazing food and fantastic service! Came for my wife’s 30th birthday and it was brilliant from start to finish. Complimentary Prosecco and flowers for her on arrival which really made her night. The food was amazing but the service really made this meal for us as it was brilliant all night. Thank you so much!

Wonderful food and great service!! We had the Vietnamese style 6 course tasting menu, it was so delicious. We were also very well looked after by our lovely waitress (Irish girl, didn’t catch her name) and the whole evening was lovely! Will be back when they change to a different cuisine style! 5 stars!!

Been dying to go to Six by Nico for ages and it didn’t disappoint. Atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly, Staff delivered outstanding service, their knowledge of the food and drink was amazing. Each taster meal was visually appealing and tasted delicious, we were surprisingly full afterwards. We cannot wait to return, Definitely worth a visit for that unique fine dining experience👌

This was our first time to Six by Nico and we were blown away. We dined on the “Hollywood” menu. I loved this menu as each course represented a different movie. My favourite dish has to be “What’s your favourite scary movie?” inspired by Scream. Everything about this was amazing, the Chinese red pork, red pepper reduction (I think), cauliflower puree, it was amazing. I also love the dessert dish “who ya gonna call?” inspired by “Ghostbusters.” The lemon and pistachio mille feuille has to be one of the best pastries I’ve had in a long time, if not ever. I wish I could have had 2x portion of the dessert, it was fab! My partner also had the wine float, which he said really brings out the best of each dish. The wine pairings are well thought out and flavoursome, without being over powering. We booked for the next menu, “Miami to Ibiza” as we were leaving, so see you in six weeks!

Always wanted to try here so we did !!!! Nice clean spacious restaurant,staff very welcoming and polite, food was really good with great flavours and presentation, my only complaint is the service was rushed but to quick for my liking I would want at least 15 mins in between each course when we go again. I had dined at Six by Nico in Manchester with my son and his partner. I booked the restaurant for a visit to Liverpool as my girlfriend wished to enjoy the dining experience. We were not disappointed from the initial greeting by Holly to the restaurant ordering a taxi when we had finished our meal. We found the Miami to Ibiza tasting menu and wines selected varied and interesting, the tuna, sea bass and beef was cooked to perfection. It's nice but I didn't feel like the cost was justified. Don't get me wrong, I love the pretentiousness of these types of restaurants if they can deliver really good food and leaves you satisfied. This delivered "good" food but the portion sizes are so miniscule as to leave you fancying a McDonalds on the way home.
