Fantastic, friendly service. The Sunday lunch was one of the best I’ve ever had. Added cauliflower cheese which was stunning. Highly recommend.

We usually stay much closer to Chester's city centre when visiting, but this time we opted for a spur-of-the-moment booking at The Cock O' Barton, and we're so glad we did! At just £95 for the night, including breakfast, it was great value for money, and we were not disappointed! The room was extremely comfortable, well-equipped, and located in a charming courtyard separate from the pub and restaurant, which offered a nice bit of privacy. Breakfast was a great start to the day — good quality food, with excellent, polite, and friendly service that really stood out. The easy drive to and from Chester posed no issues, adding a refreshing change to our usual city-centre stays. We highly recommend The Cock O' Barton for anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, stay close to Chester.

One of the quiter spots on lark lane which I thought was lovely especially of a Sunday. And dog friendly!

Unbelievably bad service all round with so called staff and management that gave us an ultimatum to either behave or leave the premises…when all we did was ask the staff how long we would need to wait to be served as we had already been waiting for 20 minutes and nobody came or apologised so we left not having a drink or any food We will never be going back…I suggest the staff are sacked or re trained either way we will never be going back to be treated like naughty school kids..my advice to anyone going is don’t .

Just come back from a 3 night stay here bed & breakfast was beautiful also had meals there beautiful food had a lovely stay friendly people will definitely stay here again thank you royal oak had a lovely time here x

Nunca he visitado el Lingmell por la noche, pero he estado bastantes veces durante el día para almorzar con amigos. A mitad del día (a menos que haya fútbol local) me ha parecido tranquilo, muy espacioso, y el personal servicial y servicial. Se han esforzado por encajar con peticiones especiales (por ejemplo, alteraciones de platos con fines dietéticos) y generalmente han mostrado una paciencia encomiable con nuestros pedidos grupales a veces complicados en el bar. Yet again we had a fabulous lunch. The food quality is outstanding and the staff are wonderful, Shirley looked after us so well. I had the cheese and onion pie with beans, brilliant. My bro Tony had steak and ale pie. Superb!

Decent pint of Guinness. Some cask ales on tap too. Long bar with lots of tables and good quality TV screens. Great place to watch the footy. Decent music too. 5 stars for me.

Spent some quality family time celebrating mum's 80 th with her siblings. Michelle our sever could not have done more. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves and were encouraged to laugh as loud as wanted. And stay as long as we wanted. Very grateful for the service we received.

Meal was great. Landlord was brilliant. All 4 of us enjoyed the atmosphere. Fantastic pub thanks for a lovely Thursday evening 😀

Just had the most amazing lunch at the Black Bull. I had Beef Stew and my partner had Chicken Parmigiana. Both meals were delicious! The meat in the beef stew was cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend a visit.
