Had the most gorgeous meal, really enjoyed the sea bass and the staff were lovely, really good choice for a spot of lunch, would definitely recommend

Had the Carvery - it was delicious - everything cooked perfect - the roasties were devine. Was there with family who all really enjoyed their meals.

I really was dissatisfied with the experience of the millgate this time! Portions are horrendous and completely over priced for a family local pub! Even the playground has been changed to a tiny apparatus and not suitable for young children or toddlers.

Me and my friend visited for wine Wednesdays we had a great time the food was lovely we both ordered a start and a main they arrived quickly, someone came to check on us and see if we needed anything else! Great place for food and drinks we will be back!

A great spot for anything you'd like, good beer, excellent garden and really welcoming vibes! Popped in with some mates and had a bite to eat and a gew bevs after!

Came for a baby shower Friday evening and it was carnage. No bouncers… yet men were doing drugs in the toilets, and not one but three fights. My elderly grandma wanted to go out for a cigarette and was scared stiff, absolutely shocking we didn’t even get an apology by management. If fact management were nowhere to be seen all night, staff was made to split up the fight just to be able to get it to the car park. This pub has gone down hill so much over the last few months. Will not be returning.

We always try and get to the millage for a nice Sunday carvery with family. It is a great place and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is great and always end up in a food coma everytime we visit. Great place for families and they do excellent functions also as me and my wife had our wedding function here. It was absolutely great and staff couldn't be more helpful. The pub cat is a great little character also. 100% recommend the millage.

Pub seems disgusting. It has gone down hill. Fights, unkept furniture and an unwelcoming atmosphere. So over priced for what you pay! A kids meal over six pounds for shrivelled up chipolata sausages? Probably more nutritional feeding him dog food. Will not be returning.

Regulars aren't very welcoming. They dont appear to realize that teh place cant run on regulars ONLY !!! Some of the clientele are free to do as they please - Kids in until well gone 10pm just charging about totally unchallenged. If you get it right and there are no chavs in - its decent pub - but if the UC brigade are in - dont bother.

I had Gammon egg and chips and drinks, and it was fab as always, had many meals here, carvery lovely and i also had mums funeral here, staff friendly and helpful

Carvery was one of worse I’ve had the gammon was nice but lamb was chewy & loads of fat the Yorkshire pudding tasted like it had been cooked in a very dirty oven that needs cleaning

Awful food and service. A cat stole out starters and was aggressive when we tried to get it back, not that we would want it after that. We asked for a mixed grill, steak medium rare. Steak came well done and was sour, a sure indicator that it’s well passed it’s date. Gammon was gristly. Breaded mushrooms fried until they were rock solid and peas were brown not green because they had been microwaved to within and inch of their life. When I spoke to a member of staff they refunded us but seemed really angry we complained and called is patronising because we dared to challenge the chef, who clearly doesn’t know how to tell if produce from their supplier is fresh or not. What an awful experience

Food was very tasteless and there was a stray cat roaming inside while trying to eat. When discussed with the staff they didn’t seem bothered and said they actually let it roam around freely. Not what you want when eating.

We were served by a young woman called Millie, she was so polite and didn’t make us wait long for our food! She was constantly smiling and I couldn’t ask for more from a server!!

Came for my son's 30th birthday. Five adult meals and two children's meals. Recommended the cheese pie to my son and fiancee, they loved it. Husband had mixed grill, couldn't finish it,(that's a first).All in all it was lovely.

Best Sunday lunch carvery we've had in a long time. We arrived around 2pm, all the meats were succulent with a good selection of fresh vegetables and potatoes. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We'll be back, thank you.

Three large lounges, family room, Restaurant and Large Function room.Although I visit this well furnished and spacious local pub on a fairly regular basis for a drink and meet friends, I recently visited with my family (Wife & son) on a midweek afternoon for a late lunch. It wasn't busy, but one or two drinkers at the bar. The place was spotless and inviting. I found the menu varied and tempting. We tried the Black Pudding fritter starters which was really tasty and very moreish. Followed by a Chicken/BLT toasted sandwich with thick cut chips. Delicious and adequate size for two people, sharing.My son had Chicken Fries starter, which he enjoyed followed by a hot dog which to be honest he didn't totally enjoy, although it didn't stop him demolishing it, closely followed by Sticky Toffee pudding & Ice Cream. All-in-All, a very pleasant meal, polite and friendly staff. We will definitely visit more often.

Looking for a pub lunch on Saturday we were disappointed that so many pubs were closed! We found an open pub that did not welcome Under-25s and did not do food. Fortunately the barmaid and a friendly local directed us to the Millgate. The food was good, fairly standard pub grub but properly cooked and presented. When I went to the bar I spotted the carvery and wished I'd gone for that - it looked tremendous! The staff and service was excellent.If ever I'm back in Oldham, I'm heading for that carvery [and hoping I'm not the driver as the Lees beer was on top form].

It's nothing special, the service was good and the food adequate. It is what is, if you want safe, basic pub food served efficiently then it's the place for you

A family visit on a Friday evening supported by some decent cask ales (yes I said it) and food. My kids food was fine nothing exciting or disappointing to report but as with other JW Lees carvery sites you can get a better meal for a lower price. We paying £9 you would at least expect the carvery staple of roast beef but all the was on offer was the cheap meats of pork, turkey and gammon, this just feels like a nasty effort to push down costings. The vegetables offered a mixture of prepared and frozen items topped off with a frozen Yorkshire pudding. If this was the main focus of your business then I would hope you’d be looking to take on the completion with the best offering you could at a competitive price, sadly not here.On a plus the service from beginning to end was superb but unfortunately that still only puts this place in the bang average section.

I booked for my family party of 5 for Xmas dinner for the 25th Dec with some trepidation as from past experience at other venues once you part with your money anything can happen. My fears were allayed when we arrived we had our own big table and the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was top notch I live locally and have ate here before but this was on another level. From starter to sweet the food was delicious meats were tasty, tender and melt in the mouth. Two of my party were hotel concept professionals and are used to dining worldwide 5 star and they gave it the thumbs up.Thanks Millgate and staff we will be back.

Been in here many times and sometimes food good sometimes poor this time food was excellent and served exactly how we wanted it. We ordered off their new menu, everything was hot and cooked perfectly there was nothing I could find fault with I had a Steak pie, Jacket potato and Cauliflower, my friend had lasagna. Cauliflower and Gravy in separate dishes was a relly nice meal. Do not know what has changed but intend to go again as it was very good.

Went to one of the Christmas nights on Saturday 8th Dec with some friends.

16 of us had a Christmas lunch there today. The food was wonderful. The staff could not do enough for us. Very good value for money. Cannot wait to come back....thank you.

Went for lunch today and it’s was underwhelming. £8.25 for a child’s size portion of poor quality fish and chips we should have gone to Morrison’s bigger fish,better chips and cheaper.

Visited the Millgate to grab some food with a few friends. Great menu, short waiting times and the food itself was outstanding. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The place was tidy and clean and an overall great social setting.

Visited last Sunday and had a decent carvery. The staff and service were great and the pub itself has had a really nice refurb. Always loads going on especially for the kids and I noticed there’s some party nights coming up soon that look good, so I’ll be looking into those for a family night out!

Family of four visited two weeks ago. We all had the carvery. It’s a bit more expensive than others but in the past we were happy to pay it as the meat was lovely, this time the meat was terrible, really fatty and everything on the carvery was cold apart from the gravy!

Lovely family pub with good atmosphere great food and friendly staff. The new refurb is stunning and loving the new Gin selection. Cant wait for my next visit.

Visited on a Sunday for a carvery with the family, the place is very nice but the food was terrible and overpriced.

Was here today for big family meal. 4 of us had the carvery. It was absolutely disgusting! Cold, dry and inedible!

Zero is too high a rating for this pub. Carvery served on cold plates with Luke warm meat and cold vegetables. The only thing that was warm was the gravy but that was cold by the time you've sat down. Would not recommend it.

Came on Sunday for a light meal as we wasn’t that hungry one of us had nachos the other messy chips. The Nachos had been burnt and were hard and the messy chips lived up to its name messy. The chips were hard and undercooked the pulled pork was tough and cold and the BBQ Sauce ran past and missed the plate. The pub is ok for a drink and to socialise but that’s all. The staff were even heard saying the food is diabolical today. On the other hand there was plenty of staff on so shouldn’t have to wait to be served as they were stood around chatting.

We drove to this pub for an evening meal on the recommendation of my daughter who has been several times.

We discovered a gem near the Rochdale Canal. Sat in the garden drinking beer. They were doing renovations so we decided to wait til that’s done and go back for the carvery which looked great. Really friendly staff too.

Great carvery with a food choice of meats, chicken gammon beef and lamb. Roast and mashed potatoes and a lovely selection of fresh veg. The only thing Wrong was it wasn't as hot as I would have liked but I do like my food hot! I think it was £10 on Sundays and a bit cheaper. Great outdoor play area for children and lot of free parking

Came here for dinner at 2pm on a Monday afternoon. Was nice and quiet with just one of two other tables. We ordered as soon as we arrived and food came within 10 minutes. Woman on the bar was lovely, brought our food over and checked to see if we needed anything else, asked how our food was, brought us sauces etc. Food was lovely and great value for money! Will definitely visit again and recommend it to family/friends. Great staff, service, food and restaurant!

We always come here it's really nice. There's a nice little play area for the kids and the food is lovely. They do a carvery for about 9pound, I think that's on a Sunday, cheaper through the week but it's nice

Ive been coming to the millgate for years and it’s always been decent but just recently the food has improved ten fold i cant fault it, the only negative is the price of the drinks

I have been going in the Millgate for the past 20 years and was appalled at this evening.

Friendly staff, always speedy service with a smile. Drinks reasonably priced with a nice variety to cater to most tastes. Enough there to keep the kids occupied. Food is good quality. Just a generally warm atmosphere, would reccomend 👌
