Located at the top end of hoylake, this small coffee house is perfect for anytime of day. Great selection of teas and coffee, around 5 different cakes to pick from.... Tiffin especially good.

Popped into Barbetta’s today with a group of four. We were given menus while we waited, then shown to a table once one became available. We ordered four hot drinks and were quietly enjoying them when, out of the blue, a “Reserved” sign was plonked on our table. A member of staff then came over and said, “I’m sorry, this table is reserved so I’m going to get the bill now and I’ll have to ask you to pay.” We were all a bit taken aback — not only were some of us still finishing our drinks, but the way it was said felt incredibly abrupt and quite rude. When I quietly said to my friend that I thought the service had been a bit off, the server overheard and challenged me, asking “Did you think I was rude then?” in a very defensive and confrontational way. She then informed us — only at that point — that they were only serving food today, and implied we shouldn’t have been seated for drinks. At no time were we told this when we arrived or ordered. Had that been made clear, we would have had no issue going elsewhere. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome and like an inconvenience. It’s a shame, really. What could have been a pleasant visit turned into a very uncomfortable experience. Sadly, we won’t be returning — not because of the policy, but because of the way we were spoken to and treated. A bit of basic communication and courtesy would’ve gone a long way.

Nice enough cafe, good vegan choices. Main bad point is not allowed dogs inside, come on people it's not the 80s anymore. It's been a long time since I have been somewhere that doesn't allow dogs

Just finished my burger from Velvet and for the first time in my life, I called them immediately to tell them it’s the best burger I’ve had in AGES. Honestly, not getting paid for this 😂. And garlic butter fried as wellđŸ‘ŒđŸ». Seriously, you need to try these burgers. And, it was still hot when it got here. 6****** review

Tasty Sunday roast, helpful staff! Only downside was no ice, but understandably on such a hot busy day! The candy mania was delicious!

Was very disappointed with this place. Staff didn’t seem to pay attention to what I ordered at all. I asked for a iced mocha with skimmed milk and first of all the guy put my drink through as an iced latte and then once he started to make my drink he put in the wrong milk and I had to get him to remake my drink, I then felt very uncomfortable as the other staff member kept asking lots of questions about why I can drink one type of milk but not the other. The drink it’s self was quite horrible, it had ice in but tasted really warm, I would of ordered a regular mocha if I knew it would turn out like that, and the food is extremely overpriced.

Service very good. Decent selection of drinks and very nice food. Not the cheapest, but more than worth the money for what you get. Lovely building too.

I love my food and we are always looking for new and upcoming places in the merseyside region. Being European food is a big part of my life and as such we are happy to pay for quality  We stumbled across 625 in West Kirby and thought let's give this a try as it looked beautiful and the menu looked great. That's where the positives ended,  We had to book for a Saturday night via phone as no website or online booking process was available, an inconvenience but not the end of the world. Arriving in the vicinity of the restaurant in West Kirby from Liverpool, parking options are atrocious and we had to park quite a distance from the restaurant and this was early evening, the restaurant is small and well decorated, the high tables and chairs are slightly off putting as not what I'd expect for a fine dining experience !! Stifling no real air movement aircon in the ceiling but wasn't sure as to if it was on or not and if it was, it wasn't working. The food is based on a sharing concept, we ordered a variety of assortment including the tomato salad as who we thought was possibly the owner, was making a lot of noise about it, only for all of the food to be underwhelming, over salted, overpriced and nothing short of what was Gastro pub at best. I'm not sure you can sell Aubergine as gourmet or fine dining. It was also overseasond and fried with dirty oil. It's a first for us to be fair and one that we will not repeat anytime soon, the food and or the restaurant itself as there is far better in that particular area. The food as a whole didn't seem as fresh as we thought it should be, dirty oil. The bill was astronomical, the wine which we purchased was also purchased in other West Kirby establishments at a significantly lesser amount / Hoylake. We were also advised by one of the servers that the Head Chef or the main creator of the menu has now left. This could be why the food wasn't as expected as no control over what's produced / sent out. I guess it's a lesson learnt to never judge a book by its cover. Unfortunately covid has allowed people to dream but the reality can be miles away, shame as it offered potential.
