Aubergine Cafe in Wirral

Lovely relaxed lunch . Service was slow, but worth the wait as our food was cooked to order. We had a classic English breakfast, which was well cooked and served by friendly staff.

Ì entered this very busy cafe and quickly ordered my Latte Coffee and toasted tea cake and sat and waited at the nearest available table.I was asked by a grey haired lady if I wished to sit at the far end .I stated I was happy where I was .She kept bobbing about the place and must have asked me 3 times if I wanted a menu .While I was there waiting other people who arrived after me were served with food .The coffee eventually arrived .Nothing wrong with that but the service was awful .

Lovely little cafe which serves really lovely food. The menu is really varied and has lots of choice. The staff are particularly lovely here. The lady who serves the food is just so nice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend thie place if you are in the West Kirby area.

This café sets a high standard for coffee and food in West Kirby at a reasonable price. I just can’t reason why the cosy, warm and unique atmosphere that once tied it all together was changed and is now the polar opposite of this.

Beautiful little cafe Such a beautiful place, cosy, warm and charming Food was yummy too! We had eggs royal and the full breakfast. Couldn’t even finish it all, portion sizes are so generous. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I made a slight amendment to my order and staff happily did it for me. Would definitely recommend

Lovely cafe nice lunch, friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly outside only. First time I'd eaten inside had the brie and cranberry sandwich it was very nice indeed.

We came for lunch and asked for a table with space for a pram. The owner of the cafe was not helpful at all, to the point that a member of the public moved so we could squeeze my son (1 year old) onto the end of a table and she rolled her eyes. Another colleague, who stated she had 2 children, was absolutely amazing and she even gave me words of wisdom. I won't be returning because of the rudeness of the owner but do believe the other colleague deserves to be front of house more than the owner. Thank you. P.s. don't have highchairs on display if you don't want children.

What a lovely welcoming place to eat. Our server was friendly and used inclusive language (so refreshing to be greeted like this) the food was amazing and came out quickly despite being very busy. We were encouraged to spread out and use two tables so we weren't cramped up. We will definitely return.

Delicious food and lovely staff

The food here is fabulous. Came for a late breakfast and we (3 of us) had different breakfasts. One had the classic, I had the bubble n squeak and daughter had the corn fritter breakfast. Everyone loved their breakfasts. So delicious and very high standard, no cheap bacon here 🤣 A special mention though to our waitress Ann who was so welcoming and a delight to be around, not so common these days, fabulous ❤️❤️

My go to cafe for a drink or bite to eat. Ann is exceptional every time I am here and always goes out of her way to chat. Lovely food and great customer service!

All of the staff that work here are really lovely and helpful. They are attentive and the service is quick. The food is delicious and reflects the price. There is lots to choose from. Ive been a few times and it is usually pretty busy which makes sense as its so good.

Sadly my food was taking so long to arrive that I gave up and left before it arrived. I'd ordered eggs benedict. I hadn't been there for years because I recall the service being slow then also, so perhaps it's something that needs addressing.

Very average with only 1 vegan option

Good café with decent food served by friendly staff. Unfortunately far too many tables have been crammed in so your conversation is shared with the neighbouring tables. The tables are all small and can barely accommodate two large plates, two cups condiments etc. Some people might like this noisy cosy set-up but sadly the cramped conditions will put me off going again.

Visited Aubergine several times and I won't write a lot, there's no need. The staff here are great and the food is lovely. The chef here is putting in a lot of effort and I've been to plenty of larger restaurants where they can't provide food and service like this. Always friendly and attentive. Had a lovely and hoc midweek lunch. Large portions. All happy with our choices.

Found this place by chance on an extremely soggy Saturday. My daughter and I enjoyed a lovely lunch and a nice Chai Latte. The staff were very welcoming and polite and the food presentation was excellent. Will definitely go again.

A lovely little cafe with very nice food and excellent staff. I read somewhere it is ‘dog friendly’ but this only applies to the tables outside so spaces can be limited.

I went here on a busy Saturday at lunch time and it was packed but we managed to get a table. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the atmosphere lovely. I had the buttermilk chicken wrap, omg it was amazing. I could have happily eaten it twice. The fries were crunchy and tasty and just the right amount of salad on the side.

This was my first visit and won't be my last. The food was delicious. I had a club sandwich all parts of which were lovely but the fluffy white bread was the star. My sister had a halloumi wrap (plenty of choice for vegetarians) and she ate all of that. The waiting staff and kitchen staff work like Trojans, well done all of you for your first class work.

Managed to get a table outside and were acknowledged almost immediately as the table hadn’t been cleared after the last diners. The table was cleared very quickly and we ordered our food soon after from a friendly server. Drinks arrived promptly however food took 55 minutes to arrive. At no time we were informed by staff that there was any delay in food orders. Food was ok and probably right for the price. We had to order a second pot of tea to go with the meal due to the delay which we feel could have been offered as a complimentary apology although when we asked they did remove it from the bill. Overall a nice cafe however poor communication let it down today.

This time toast was cold and bacon over cooked . Relaxing place for a snack or tea & coffee.

I visited this cafe just yesterday with a friend after reading glowing reviews online. The cafe is in a good location, close to the train station and decorated nicely inside. I ordered something slightly different to what was on the menu (nothing extravagant, just a salad with smoked salmon, avocado, tomato and beetroot). All ingredients were on the menu. The waiter said he’d check with the chef and let me know. He didn’t. The meal just arrived 10 minutes later. The salad, although fresh, was nothing special. Unfortunately, my friend and I overheard the staff criticising my request while still in the cafe. This was not only upsetting but also highly unprofessional. It’s safe to say we won’t be returning!

Large selection of items on the menu. My daughter had the fried chicken wrap which she said was really tasty. I had the crispy duck wrap which was amazing. Both came with salad and chips. Plenty of options for drinks too. We splashed out on a cake each too, Victoria sponge was moist and tasty, the salted caramel cake was delicious. Would recommend you give them a go. The staff were friendly and helpful which is always nice to find. Will be visiting again

The sweetcorn fritter in here is to die for. I’ve tried other things on the menu and they’re good too, however I keep coming back to the sweetcorn fritter. Not something I would normally eat as it doesn’t sound healthy, but when entering Aubergine for the first time a few years back, a couple were leaving and highly recommended it as an unexpected find. The coffee and pot of tea are also pretty good. I just hope that nothing changes as today my serving was smaller than normal. I’m hoping it was just the time that we arrived (after 1pm). Get in early 9-9:45 in a weekend or expect a wait. Although, with tables outside and the weather getting better now it might not be an issue. PS my 19yr old son (who is a gym fanatic) usually goes for the pancakes and they look really good too, just probably too sweet for me.

We arrived just after 10 and thought we wouldn’t be able to get a table but there was a few available! I ordered an orange juice and a classic breakfast and my boyfriend ordered a breakfast burger, an orange juice and a coffee. Everything was served really quickly and presented really nice. Generous portions and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We were in and out within 45 minutes, didn’t feel rushed but they always have people waiting for a table.

Terrific food and great coffee. Super fast friendly service. The menu is lovely with good quality ingredients. We wanted a good cafe experience and found it. Highly recommended.

Been here before and it never fails to impress, lovely area, located down a very welcoming lane way, staff very friendly and welcoming, the food is great and great value for money definitely worth a visit, but expect large portions, and the homemade cakes are delicious

Straightforward cafe that did everything well. Good enough for me. Trip Advisor marking system is poor in that it leaps from average to very good then excellent. I think this place is good but not very good, so I'd describe it as average but don't feel that this is derogatory because the place is fine.

This is the 3rd time we have been here, the previous 2 between lockdowns, whilst we were visiting the area. We had breakfast here. I ordered the fishcake item, but unfortunately they wee out of them. I ordered the sweetcorn and cheese fritters. I was not disappointed. My wife had the poached eggs and salmon. Again absolutely lovely. Washed down with coffee and tea respectively. Staff and atmosphere is superb. Will definitely go again.

I got a vegan breakfast and Victorian lemonade. The vegan breakfast was really tasty. The staff are lovely. We stand outside which was nice, it was shaded area. They have a few more vegan options but I wish they had a little more.

Me and my partner love coming here , food is of high quality and tastes really good , prices are reasonable and staff are super professional and friendly. Even when busy and service is demanding , the staff never let this show and remain cool and collected. Other establishments locally could really take note from Aubergine. They also follow Covid guidelines and educate u in a way that makes u feel informed and confident in their practise. On our last visit, me and my partner found the cafe to be close temporarily and we were so looking forward to a breakfast there , we had to go to another venue and the food and Service couldn’t even compare to Aubergine. Can’t wait to come back. We miss the lovely lady with blonde short hair , we always refer to her when talk about great customer service.

Called in whilst we were in the area. Small establishment but very impressed with the Covid arrangements. Temperature check as well as track and trace. The breakfasts were brilliant. So good we went back Sunday for more. Highly recommended. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Went for lunch today for the first time, would definitely recommend it.Spotlessly clean, lovely staff all wearing face masks/visors, sanitising gel on entry and temperature checked!!Food was lovely, I had my favourite bacon, brie and cranberry on toasted white bloomer. Hubby had prawn with lime mayo on white bloomer bread. These were both served with fries and a lovely little dressed salad. Will definitely return on next visit to West Kirby.

I ordered eggs benedict, probably the best I've had with eggs perfect and the slow cooked ham hock delicious. My wife had pancakes with maple syrup and bacon cooked to her request. One piece of advice, be very hungry if having the pancakes!Will definitely return for the eggs benefict, my wife said she would also choose them next time.

Really impressed with the attentive service and pleasant staff. Lovely atmosphere inside and out. Excellent Covid regulations which made us feel safe. Even though we only came for cake and a cuppa, we were made to feel welcome and loved the candle out on my partners cake for his birthday. Lemon and coconut cake and coffee cake were superb. We will return to try the vegan breakfast.

First time visiting but we have wanted to try here for a while having tried numerous other cafes in West Kirby. We both got lattes (one soya and one almond) which were some of the best lattes we've had from a cafe. Both got a vegetarian breakfast too which we were both very impressed with. The poached eggs were perfectly poached, veggie black pudding was a first for us but both really impressed with that too and the grilled halloumi was really tasty also. The staff were all very friendly and quick in seeing to us. Exemplary social distancing measures in place too which was really pleasing. Would definitely return soon as it was overall, a fantastic breakfast.

we visited twice in the last week. Both times had food from the specials board and were blown away. The chefs are fantastic and the service great. We felt so safe in there as they are doing everything to ensure they are covid safe . They have really thought carefully about protecting their customers and we really appreciate that. The changes are great and it has not changed the warm Aubergine atmosphere. One hundred percent recommend for top food ,great service and a safe environment xx

My mum and I chose the Aubergine Cafe as tourists with vegan and vegetarian dietary requirements - we were not disappointed! Plenty to chose from on the menu (during covid-19), food was delicious, excellent service, good music & nicely decorated all around. What more could you ask for :)
