Velvet Bar & Grill Hoylake in Wirral

Just finished my burger from Velvet and for the first time in my life, I called them immediately to tell them it’s the best burger I’ve had in AGES. Honestly, not getting paid for this 😂. And garlic butter fried as well👌🏻. Seriously, you need to try these burgers. And, it was still hot when it got here. 6****** review

After reading the Wirral Globes fabulous editorial regarding the new head chef Jaime, my husband booked us in, a family of 4 for Sunday lunch. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by a lovely young lady where nothing was too much trouble. We decided on chicken wings to start, mix of three meat roast dinner for mains & waffles for dessert. All I can say is WOW! The food was amazing, absolutely delish! We even met the chef who was extremely modest considering her food was out of this world! A huge thank you for all at Velvet Bar & Grill for a wonderful experience! Although this was our first visit it will not be our last, fab-u-lous! 👍😋❤️

This restaurant bar is excellent for singles, couples and groups, excellent service great tasting quality food and the bonus is not overpriced so if you are out and about in Hoylake definitely worth a visit

Long wait times for drinks and food. The restaurant was freezing, we had to put our coats back on which is not great when you're there to have a meal. My opinion is the restaurant isn't run properly. Staff were friendly. Food was standard but wouldn't rush to go back. Disappointed

Our first visit here and won't be our last. Although we waited a little while for our starters, it was understandable as it was Hoylake Christmas light switch on, and they also took off a round of drinks, which was so nice of them to do. The food was absolutely delicious burgers to die for. The service was second to none, and the young waitress had good product knowledge, too. Thanks for helping us make our night even more special....

Just had the 3 meat roast dinner. Absolutely fantastic value. Infact unless you have a hearty appetite I would say it's too much. Wife had the lamb roast which she really liked as well. Staff very friendly and attentive. Definitely ve back as irs tge best value roast dinner I have ever had.

We haven’t been since beginning September ish and heard they have a new menu. So we thought we have to try it and glad we did. Far tastier than I and others had thought so will definitely be back again. It would be silly not to try other items too eh! Thank you to the lovely staff and great service we had a very nice evening

The food in this place is outstanding. It's proper bar and grill food done well. We had 2 burgers, mine was the peppercorn. An excellent burger with exactly the right amount of blue cheese on. The chips in peppercorn sauce were absolutely perfect. My wife has the spicy smash, apparently it was good. Obviously so good I didn't get to try any! We also had some frickles, battered pickles. I can't believe that these things actually work but they're really good! The owner is sound and he plays a serious playlist as well!

1st time visit to this bar. Roast dinner amazing with fabulous roasties and delicious meat. Also the vegetarian who was with us was well catered for. Lovely atmosphere, warm & friendly welcome. So much so we have booked for Christmas day!!! Thank you Dean & staff. Karen & family 👍

Excellent choice of gluten free food, my wife ordered 3 small plates, the portion size is very, very generous. The nasi goreng was amazing. Atmosphere was lovely, service was excellent and we have already booked a table for the family.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Dean, for letting us host my partner Steve's 65th Birthday celebration at The Velvet Bar. It was a wonderful night, made even more special by the amazing staff - Phoebe (Bar Tender, who also created a cocktail especially for the occasion) Rebecca (Supervisor, who ensured that everything ran smoothly) Megan (Bar Tender) Dylan (Bar Tender) and Ryan (The Chef) Dean and his team were incredible, ensuring that everything was just right and organised exactly the way we wanted it to be. From taking delivery of the cakes and balloons, to resetting the whole of the restaurant and making things straightforward and easy, all the pressure was taken away & we couldn't have asked for anything more!!! The staff worked so hard and gave 110% all evening, ensuring that everyone was taken care of and had everything they needed. The buffet was fabulous - Ryan did an amazing job with the selection, and making sure that everything came out on time and was hot. I would highly recommended The Velvet for any special occasion - simply perfect in every way! Thank you to Dean and to his incredible team for making Steve's night!!

We recently took the kids for lunch , they have a great children's menu ideal for fussy eaters ! We ordered from their new lunch menu .. I had the Steak Ciabatta with rocket and blue cheese sauce, served with fries - it was incredible! The fish and chips was huge and perfectly cooked. All the lunch mains are £10.99 with very generous portions , it's an absolute steal . The kids had chicken nuggets , peas, beans and fries and Margherita pizza, they got a drink and ice-cream included in the meal- £9.99 amazing value ! You can get unlimited tea and coffee with a small extra fee of around £3 The staff were very attentive and welcoming. This was our second visit here and the standard and quality of the dishes were again wonderful.

Amazing Steak Night We went to Velvet tonight and ordered the steak night offer. We both had ribeye steaks with delicious salt and pepper chips with rosemary and thyme infusion, side salad, onion rings. We had a blue cheese and a peppercorn sauce and we asked for a side of mushrooms which wasn’t on the menu but they obliged. The steak was delicious, cooked to perfection, the chips were really really tasty and the sauces delicious. Everything tasted home cooked. Great value at £16 for the steak chips sauce salad and a drink! Also great service and lovely atmosphere in there. Ps the Malbec is really good too!

30 minutes to get a drink and a 40 minutes wait for food we were told and after the drinks order was twice delivered wrong we decided enough was enough. Overbooked and clearly understaffed. Sick of hearing this in local restaurants that talk a great meal but fail to deliver ! I won’t be back

Tried this place on chance and so happy we did. The girls working were really lovely and friendly. The price of the food was really good for the portions! Would definitely come back!

Went in here for a takeaway lunch it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had! I got the steak ciabatta it’s to die for! It comes with a very good portion of fries and a salad as well the chef also altered the cheese sauce for me. When I walked in to get the takeaway the owner was very pleasant will definitely be going again! Thank you ☺️

Maybe 3 weeks ago now since our previous visit, thinking of making another cheeky stop as the weather is awful and feeling the need to spoil ourselves, last time we did the tapas Tuesday which we loved so much but as it’s Friday 🤷🏻🤷‍♀️ who knows, looking forward to some great food again in lovely surroundings and pleasant staff . Fish and chips? Or Burger ?

We popped in for a Sunday roast - not my usual meal out, but felt the need for some autumnal warming grub! It was absolutely yummy! Great portion, well cooked, very reasonably priced. Will be back for more! Just not today as I'm stuffed!

Great food during a recent visits of 9 of us last minute booking. All enjoyed the food, great friendly service - we’ll most def be going again. 👍

The best place in Hoylake............ IF you like warm beer a reheated food. Unbelievable that the beers were served by the owner as well! There is no way this food is prepared and cooked on site. There are plenty of much better places in this area, which as a bonus sell cold beer! Won't be back!

We had a couple of take out burgers last night and they were staggeringly good! Some of the best I have ever had. Awesome. We will be back!

The tomahawk steak was outstanding, as was the venue and service which was attentive but not overbearing, the food was amazing , the steak an 11 out of 10 , best local food I've had in a good while!!

Over priced, long wait, and the owner (I think) was really rude. Wouldn’t recommend. Edit: Not sure what all these questions are about, just screams insecurity. You might have a different experience but I’m certainly never going back.

Wow! Didn't expect this. Lovely food, fantastic staff. One of our table was elderly and only wanted broccoli and Stilton soup. Was told none was available but, would ask chef if it was possible to make one? Positive reply. This was Sunday the rest all had the roast, make sure you have big appetite or you will have a large doggie bag. Definitely coming again.

Hello my partner book a table with youse the other day for are 1 year anniversary and I have to say I was shocked considering this is a 4 star place it was terrible we had to send are food back twice because it was cold the waiters where rude and didn't seem like thay wanted to be there and are drinks took about 30 minutes to get to are table also they where very overpriced for the quality of them !WILL NOT COME AGAIN!

Very good choice of food at reasonable prices. Staff very friendly riendly and attentive. Ate outside on two occasions which is good as able to watch the world go by. Good atmosphere.

Not brilliant one young lovely waitress, the other forgot the order and was quite serious. Food not great. They didnt have 2 things we ordered. However in their defence, after waiting 20 mins after my friends got their Etan mess and told they didnt have mine i got a free cheesecake. I will go again to see if it improves. Boss. Please dont wear a hoody!!!

disappointing visit . served with a drink over 1 hour later got our food . wanted to order a fish dish but only battered fish available asked for prawn off small plates to be served as a larger portion as a main course. with side salad as that was only fish choice suitable. asked for a portion of tender stem broccoli. husband ordered steak offer which came with a drink of draftbeer. food came eventually with no apology for delay salad had obviously been under heat lamp . minute amount of prawns charge 8.95 no broccoli a few minutes later veg appears not as asked but green beans and mini corn that was returned. asked for bill and we had been over charged by over £9.00 for the beer and the non existent broccoli. not asked during the 1 HR 45 mins we were there if either we wanted another drink or if food was ok when it eventually came which it was not . left payment on the table and left was not acknowledged at all as we left . WILL NOT RETURN AND DEFINITELY NEVER RECOMMEND......

Another fabulous meal at the Velvet bar & grill. Amazing food, cocktails and fantastic service. This is our favourite place in Hoylake. I would highly Recommend 👌🏻

Early evening dinner for 4 , friendly service , 2 of our 1st choice mains had sold out but we were all very happy with our meals. Our go to draft beer was also sold out, maybe the restaurant had a busy week.. We will give it another go soon.

We visited Velvet Bar and Grill for the first time recently. We were warmly greeted at the door and shown to our table. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was superb, all beautifully cooked and full of flavour. We will be going back!

Absolutely love the food, atmosphere and service in this place. Great portion size and always to good to leave leftovers. The saying eat when your hungry and stop when your full well and truly goes out the window here 🙈

Visited for the steak night with her in doors and wasn't disappointed. Lovely 2 rump steaks cooked to perfection with fab chips and red wine sauce. The house lager was suggested by the staff and was lovely. Staff were really nice, friendly and professional. I will definately be back as I fancy the burger that sounds and looks fab.

Great news for the town when this place opened up. The burgers here are lovely and Maddie brings service with a smile 😊if it opened up all day I’d be eating here all week

Yet again this little gem has got 10 out of 10 , been tonight for Mother’s Day it was very busy so had to wait a while longer for are table , but staff made up for it with there pleasant chat , we had a selection of foods and thoroughly enjoy , all empty plates , well done to all !! X

Came on steak night had a rump with chips and onion rings and a pint of Estrella for £15, quality of the food and presentation was fantastic. We also had the honey an feta sweet potato fries which were delicious. I will be going back.
