Came here for a few drinks and some snacks and was greeted and well looked after by Amy who made sure we were served straight away and made conversation with us! All in all very positive experience will be back!

I often pop to the sports for a pint after work or over the weekend. I have to honestly say that since Karen and Michael have taken over the pub has turned a massive corner and is a place I enjoy coming to! I would struggle to pick a team member out who isn’t attentive and polite and make my visit a fabulous experience every time I visit! The care and attention paid to customers and the events going on locally are next to none!. The atmosphere created for all to enjoy is amazing and always a cracking experience! Thank you team sports for providing our community a safe and welcoming place for all to enjoy!!

Love our little local. We're always made to feel welcome. The staff are lovely. They've a great selection of gins 😍 The prices are very reasonable too. Dogs are also welcome 😍 They don't serve food hence the no stars!

Cracking traditional pub, perfect for a pit stop before and/or after attending Prenton Park. No food mark as didn't have any.

Very busy pub with limited disabled access need to invest in a ramp to reach raised area for wheelchair users. Locals claim 'their tables' so a little restricted when live music on.

Always been a good pub to go. I Always go everytime we go home for a visit. Never changed in alot of years good drin,food,company great atmosphere.

Just waited an hour for our food... when I asked why taken so long, cook left, our food left in the kitchen, served to us basically cold and not even an apology. Very disappointed especially when we eat here regularly and usually quite good!

Bustling pub with friendly staff. Beer prices are lower than other pubs in the area and the beer is well kept. Only have Doom Bar on offer for craft beer drinkers, but there are lots of lagers etc on offer.

The bar staff here are wonderful, very friendly and always happy to help special mention to Ness and Shannon who no matter the request, always smiling and happy to help. GreT service and will be attending again with family.

Come in over the weekend for food with the family. Didn’t pre book wasn't expecting it to be as busy as it was but the bar staff were more than willing to help accommodate us and find is a suitable table. Have a child with allergies, I approached the bar to inform them about who were more than knowledgeable about what he was able to eat on their menu and assured me cooking methods. For 5 of us with drinks the bill came to £32 cannot complain at all, all food served hot and presentable. Overall impressed with our visit and have booked in for Xmas dinner. Thanks again to all the team.

Called in for a quick one after the match, was surprised to find real ales on sale at £2.20. A pint.!! I had Hobgoblin Gold which was spot on.

1st time here can't believe that I've never been here before. Was good to see a busy pub on a Saturday teatime. Didn't eat there but the menu looked good and plenty of orders passed by. Will try again and maybe try a meal there 😋

the place was really nice. the locals was also welcoming showing me where the dining area is. my children enjoyed their meal there. we had the fish and chips full works whilst the missus had a delicious sundae. will come again.

Haven’t visited family for years and my father suggested a trip to the sports. I walked in and it was like I’d never been away. Welcomed back and lovely to see old faces who are we looked after by the staff. It gives them company and safety surrounded by familiar surroundings. Impressed with the new menu, had the small planks which was 5 for 12.49 which fed 3 of us. The barmaid commented it was amazing and their ‘Birkenhead tapas’ it arrived quickly and cooked to perfection. Grateful for how they take care of their regulars and go the extra mile to make sure they are happy. Would give more stars if I could and thank you

I go to the sports quite abit for food and drink and the service there is always excellent all the bar maides there are lovely and very chatty, and you always get served quickly even when they are busy doing other stuff, the food in there always tastes lovely and always comes out hot!

I came in with friends for a meal, and nothing was too much trouble for Tracie. No matter how big or small my requests were, she was nothing other than helpful and maintained a smile on her face the whole time. I used to run a bar, and if I was recruiting I wouldn’t hesitate to headhunt her and prize her away from the Sportsmans. I do hope that next time when I go in Tracie looks after us, as it will certainly enhance my experience.

I am new to the area and often find myself looking for a friendly place to get food or just have a beer, my first impressions of the sportman were great and they have not dissapointed. I have attended Karaoke night and eaten a couple of times. Price: the price of the beer and food is exceptional and for what you get you cant beat it, a beer and a burger will cost roughly £6 and leave you full and satisfied. My favourite part of the sportsman is no doubt the friendly locals and the bar staff, Being new to the area it can be abit nervy meeting new people but the locals made me feel at home aswell as a young bar lady by the name of Ellie who has shown me kindness and gave me alot of great information. aswell as a great customer experience you can expect a fun time whilst visiting.

Came in for a meal last Saturday, welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and regulars. Tracie and David who were on shift that day were welcoming and friendly when taking our food orders. Tracie explained the offers they have on food and drink and what can be included. Warm friendly local!

I was up visiting family and I was looking at local places to eat in the area I came across this little place and it didn't fail the food was lovely and the blonde girl vella think her name was she was very accommodating and helpful as my soon has allergies friendly atmosphere defo would return ..

I don’t usually write reviews but this pub was extremely underwhelming, I expected from the other reviews much more of an exciting time with my friends, the music wasn’t loud enough so got a headache hearing everybody roaring over it n it seemed to get turned down everytime a decent song was played, everyone seemed clicky in there, took ages getting served coz regulars seemed to get served first even when we was at the bar first! The atmosphere wasn’t nice, deffo the worst pub I’ve visited since lockdown, on a plus point there was one lovely barmaid who came in a bit later, she was chatty, served us fairly n made us feel more welcome..

I eat there all the time it has so great food, finished every bite of it deffo recommend it.

Dave is a robbing horrible individual and his wife needs to understand her place. Disgusting place and disgraceful leadership. If i could give it 0 stars i would. It will be under new management soon due to the awful management its under even the barmaids hate him.

Nice real ale after Sunday's match at Prenton park,sat outside enjoying the sunshine 🌞 first stop on the walk back to Rock ferry train station..2nd pint was in the Bedford st.Lukes.. Ideal pub on the way or return journey from Prenton park before or after the match..No photos of either pub but both very friendly and would recommend.

Nice little place ice cold beer polite staff , but this was my main meal now to say I was disappointed was an understatement this was it before I started. Needless to say I had to go home and make myself something to eat , wouldn't have filled me kids up won't be ordering food here again ..
