The best restaurants serving British food in Pendle North West

We have been visiting regularly. The food is absolutely faultless. However, the atmosphere and friendlies are totally lacking. No welcome. The waiting staff are attentive. Well, when we visited this evening, there is a member of waiting staff who never smiles or engages, thankfully not there! But the bar staff just do not have any customer personality! To be honest, they are pretty boring and not interested. We really hoped to make this our local for the friendship and the social aspect, but even though it's 2 minutes up the road from us I don't really think it's the place. Sorry. The food was amazing, though. Shame. No atmosphere, comfort, or cohesion for the surrounding area and community. Furniture looking extremely tired and worn. The whole place needs a refurbishment. That includes the staff!

I was working across the road and fancied a chippy , the place didn’t look all that great but wow 2x fish bites (like the size of a fish) & chips & can of pop £9 , more than I was expecting but was probably the best chippy I have had and I eat lots , not sure if they use beef dripping or not but the flavour was great a huge 5* from me You don’t mind paying more for good quality

Cute little cafe with outside seating. Perfect on a sunny day. Nice selection of sandwiches. Friendly staff

Sadly this chippy has changed hands and isn’t anywhere near as good as it was. It’s a shame as the guy there seems really keen and very welcoming No longer offering haddock having swapped to cod and using different fat, the fish batter and chips have left a very soapy taste in my mouth. Chips undercooked too so they needed extra cooking to crisp up. Fish itself was okay inside the batter. I won’t be going back in a hurry.

Limited menu (Not a criticism) We had chicken shawarma, chips, dip, large mugs of coffee. Very tasty, great value. Decent service. Great place to stop after or before a walk around the park. GIVE IT A TRY. Very good value.

Everything was great from start to finish. Defo recommend the pork ! Staff were great especially Sam! Always smiling and checking we had everything we needed

A last minute decision to eat at the Crown and a table was made for us. Service is second to none. Food was great A lovely family and great staff. The Thai restaurant can get busy, the reason is because it's Fantastic.Love it.

In a of the most nicest relaxing environments everyone treated with respect and all the kids get a free lolie pop to witch thay love I highly recommend peter and Mary's cafe it's one of the best places around thankyou from Leona John

Wow great food good service and a crisp pint.

We come here regularly and always order the same fish and chips but the quality is dropping. The size of the fish has halved but the prices have consistently gone up. Used to love coming here but really disappointed in how it's gone downhill. Was the best fish and chips restaurant for mile around, NOT ANY MORE....

Amazing views and great food! I've been back here a few times, and recommended it to others who have liked it too! The vegetable soup was thick and home made, the steak and ale pie was delicious! The staff are really helpful and can't do enough for you! Stand outside at the front and you get glorious views of the countryside, with sheep just across the road grazing! We didn't bring children but there's a playground out back, and dogs are allowed in too!

great evening with friends, food and service was fantastic

We visited The Sparrowhawk with 5 other family members and received a welcoming greeting on arrival. We were shown to a table of our choosing, ordered drinks and were served almost immediately. We ordered a varying selection of dishes for lunch and they were all wonderfully tasty, well presented and served by a friendly young woman called Viktorija. After 2-3 enjoyable hours we paid the bill and each commented on the excellent value. We will have no hesitation whatsoever in visiting again. Fully recommend The Sparrowhawk!
