Our fav pub in the area, it has everything - friendly staff, a cozy old English pub vibe inside, spectacular view of Pendle valley out the front, tented area out back with various hideaways in the beer garden, dog friendly and restaurant quality food.

Booked a meal for new year 2023. saying it was new year the atmosphere was poor. No music, tables were bare and the Christmas tree that stood in the corner had been removed. Very disappointed. Just felt like a normal night and nothing special. Won't be returning and will be spreading the word.

Last minute decision to eat out on a wet Friday evening. The pub was lovely and cosy and tastefully decorated for Christmas. Husband ordered the pork burger and I ordered chicken breast with sautéed potatoes. Both were really delicious and we followed with 2 generous portions of fruit crumble. Apologies for one of our dogs almost pulling the table over and spilling a drink but Dave handled it without making a fuss.

Travelled only 3 miles from Colne - what a surprise! Remember this place from my childhood. Obviously it’s the same from the outside - amazing views over Pendle and plenty of parking. Pub inside is traditional and clean. The food was superb. Three guests - we had starters, mains and deserts, wine, brandy snd coffee. Bill came to around £115. As far as I’m concerned you get what you pay for - quality hot home cooked food and good service. This is super value. We left happy and full not a complaint even from my mum snd that’s not usual. If you want good food in a really lovely relaxed atmosphere give it a go. Well done and please keep it up, we will be back.

Visited here for the first time late evening for sunday dinner last night as the locals recommended it I am abosolutely discusted at how we were treated one of the meals was uneatable as the meat was just all fat chewy and had an odd taste to it When i approached the bar for a red wine i asked. The bar manager named G politely if he could exchange the meat however he returned with the wine and did nothing the waitress Named M was very rude and abbrupt when politely asked for gravy as i could barely see any.on my plate She rudely said that will cost you extra we also had to sit for ages waiting with the meals they served without cutlery until i finally flagged her down and asked if it would be possible to have something to eat the meals with yes they went cold as we got the bill and explained her rudeness we asked what they would do about everything and M just said theres nothing i can do as theres no one in the building incharge one of my family members was asked to leave the building for complaining then were all asked to leave nothing was done about the unedible meal the service and rudeness we paid the very high bill and as i was leaving it turned out that G said with a grin on his face well yes the owner D was actually upstairs the whole time Never in my entire life have i ever been treated in such a discusting way very upsetting experience in a food establishment Has anyone else had a bad experience here ?

Pub was nice, friendly staff, great views out front, helped by the baking hot weather. Good pints and the food was to a good standard too. We booked last minute and were lucky enough to be accommodated. The pub is following COVID-19 measures well.We ordered the Tandoori Chicken, Pork Chop w/black pudding bon bons, children's burger and chips. All was devoured and delicious. Compliments to the Chef, the food was good before Lockdown, but it's even better now All staff were friendly and other patrons were respectful of everyone else's space.Food and drinks are fairly priced, it doesn't matter that it's a pub at the top of Nelson as a previous reviewer mentioned. The food is very obviously fresh and made to order, so dishes are costed accordingly. I love it when customers who haven't worked extensively in Hospitality mouth off on Trip Advisor about the prices of food because a venue is in a certain place - food and drink don't change price from a supplier just because the pub is not in a city... and I bet they never say anything in person, just three days later online! It was good to see Veggies and Vegans can be catered for too, not that it applied to me, but for a pub attached to a farm, it's still suitable for all dietary choices.

The devilled calamari starter was not overcooked and the salt and pepper chicken wings were so fresh they almost flew in from the kitchen! And then roast beef (choose either pink or well done), proper Yorkshire pudding and lots of interesting veg (thank goodness, not a sprig of broccoli anywhere). Himself said the beer was ‘well looked after’ and good too. The staff were lovely and worked so hard to ensure everyone got served on time and social distancing rules were observed. Will we go again? MORE AT TripAdvisor

The food is fantastic. The menu descriptions don't really do it justice and neither will my photos because I have a poor camera.I made a big mistake ordering a starter and a dessert because the main was bigger than I expected. The menu looks just like a normal pub menu but every bit of the food is extra special. We (my daughter and I) had chicken pakora for starter which was different but not bad. I got the steak and ale pie which was fantastic. It was superior compared to any other place I've had the same dish. The pie was huge and came in its own mini casserole dish. The pastry was really light and flaky, there were lots of sizeable steak in the pie and the rest of the pie was delicious. It was so good I made my daughter try it because I haven't had a pie like it. I'd love to know how teh sauce is made inside because it was really tasty and very specia. The chips were lovely and again... tasted very special... I don't know if it's a special potato they use or a special oil.. I feel odd commenting on chips but they were the tastiest I've had in a long time. The veg was picture perfect, all top florets of broccoli, carrots, peas and cauliflower.... usually tasteless in most places but they were lovely. I don't know how they were cooked (if they were steamed or boiled) but they were slightly crunchy (a good thing) and not saturated in water. Most places "broil" veg until it's bland and tasteless but they were so good. It's like they've got a standard dish that most people are happy with and made every bit of it special. My daughter had fish and chips and finished all of it which never happens. It's usually me that has to finish it. She's 13 so couldn't explain anything other than "it was really good". :)I don't know what the dessert was called but it was a fruit compote of some sort and it was fantastic. You could tell with the presentation of it that they went to a lot of effort to make it. It wasn't put together in two minutes that's for sure. It looked beautiful like high end restaurant quality and tasted as good as it looked. It had strawberries, blueberries, meringue pieces, a special kind of syrup, real sweet mint leaves and all looked very fresh... dusted in a fine icing sugar (I think). I can't explain how special it looked, and, it tasted even better than it looked. The staff were really lovely, almost over-attentive... such lovely people and they really looked after me and my daughter. Most pubs ask if everything is ok etc but they really went all out.I feel like I'm waffling but I love good food and already know some excellent places already. I tend to stick to places that I know are good but I'm really glad I chanced it here. These guys must take great pride in their food and I couldn't expect better if it was my birthday. In short it looks like a standard pub but the food is extra special. Try it and tell me I'm wrong. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work.

We've eaten here a few times so I thought that it was about time i wrote a review. Firstly i would advise booking as we arrived at 4.45pm on a Friday evening and it was busy! Our ordered food arrived really quickly to say that there was 5 of us all requesting something different. I won't go into what each of us had but I will say that 5 empty plates were taken away. Cooked and presented perfectly. The place is spotlessly clean with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the open fire adds to the ambiance .The owners were both run off their feet but this didn't affect the service at all.As we left our table was already being taken so best to book. What I will say is that perhaps having a website rather than Facebook (I don't do Facebook) would be a benefit so as to promote the owners passion in rearing their own pork which they also serve in the pub.So glad that this is our local.

Unfortunately the price of the bill was then bumped up by a hidden £40 service charge that we had not been told about prior to booking or ordering, so that was a disappointing suprise. We went up for the first time in a very long while and we were pleasantly surprised with the decor and general upkeep of the place, the views across the valley towards Pendle Hill are spectacular (especially as Nelson is hidden away in the dip). We were with friends so four of us in total and I’m a full time vegetarian with 2 of the others being part time vegetarians, the menu had lots of meat / chicken / fish type dishes and ONE vegetarian meal - Cheese & Onion pie, so 3 of us had the Hobson’s choice of Cheese & Onion pie, it was really good but we all agreed that in this day and age 1 vegetarian meal on the menu is a pretty poor show and would dissuade us from visiting again within a short period of time to sample yet another Cheese and Onion pie. I should add that a few days prior to this we also visited another local hostelry and the exact same thing happened there, the only vegetarian dish on the menu was Cheese and Onion pie, which is what prompted me to write this review in the hope that the owner / landlord might introduce a more varied menu to suit the needs of non flesh eating people.

Shooters Arms is in an elevated, unique position surrounded by farmland. It has a long history of serving local food and drink, mainly to the small communities of Pendle and Burnley. Reading the reviews of the past, particularly of more recent months, we were impressed. The current owners are obviously working hard to maintain its rustic charm.

We had a really enjoyable meal for my partners birthday here with our children and their grandparents. We reserved a table, ordered drinks and food at the bar when we was ready. All food freshly made and all products are local and absolutely delicious won't find much better food elsewhere. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Had fun in the games room after where theres a pool table, darts board, television and other games on the side with access to the bar. Lovely views from this location across pendle. Definitely worse a visit, we will be back for sure :)

We have been going to the Shooters on and off since last June. Either for the odd drink, evening meal or the breakfast they offer at the weekend. Last night we went for the Tuesday quiz night that they started a month or so back and their two meals for £15. Again, NOT disappointed. We thoroughly recommend the place, and the host’s.

This is actually a review of two visits. We have a bit of a history with this pub, we moved in just down the road 6 years ago, came a couple of times for drinks with our dogs, and didn't like it. The decor was lovely, it was a nice place, we just found it a bit odd and unfriendly. So a couple of months back, driving past after a walk, hubby suggested we try it again. Reluctantly I agreed, and I am so glad we did. We found a new couple in charge, they are local farmers, the place had been scrubbed to within an inch of its life, and the atmosphere was lovely. So we have been going for drinks ever since, and admiring the food as it went past. Then, as I was finishing work a couple of weeks ago, we booked an evening meal as a treat. When we got there the barmaid, who always remembers our drinks, said that unfortunately the chef had had to go home as he had had a family member fall ill, and the sous chef was cooking, and we're we okay with that. We didn't mind at all, and we had a lovely meal. I had the prawns to start, and it was a good helping of tasty prawns, with a fresh salad. Husband had the chipolatas which were a huge portion, I had to help then he had the pork burger, which was a really good twist on a burger, I'll be having it next time, and I had the sausage and mash, which was fab. Then the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever had. And the nicest thing was the chef kept checking on us, asking if everything was okay. Then today we went for lunch, and it was great, delicious ciabattas, amazing chips, and the best bacon I've ever tasted in my life. And it's their bacon, from their farm, you do t get more local than that. I can't wait to take my dad here for a Sunday lunch when he comes to visit, I know he'll love it. I'm so glad we live near this pub now

Nice cosy little pub. The log fire was burning brightly, and the staff welcoming. I think we picked the wrong night, as they seemed to be running out some food choices, but what we had was tasty, and freshly made to order, as there is a bit of a wait for you order.

As usual a spur of the moment visit....It's only taken us 35years to visit living in Burnley!!!!Was it worth the wait.....you bet. Tastiest meal out in a long time and probably better than Ribchester Arms our favourite (not now)....My wife indulged in a chicken roast...looked very tempting .I had the smoked haddock dish...beautiful. I had coffees and my wife a few chilled wines. The sweets were delicious....Thanks so much for a lovely meal worth every penny. We also enjoyed the natter about schools with the landlady/owner. We will be BACK maybe Friday, why on earth have we never been!!!!!

Simply put, the tastiest Turkey and trimmings I have had in a long time. Made tastier by the cranberry gravy. The Christmas pudding had added fruit compote on top which lifted the taste to another level. Good cafetiere coffee to follow. Superb all round.

The food was very good and plenty of choice, I had fish pie which was excellent, there is also vegetarian choices. The dining area is not massive but the tables are not crammed up together. Only complaint was we had to ask to go to our table after we had been stood at the bar for a while.

The last time I visited the Shooters was over 50 years ago, in those days I had a lemonade and a packet of crisps but this time the menu was excellent and the food tasty and reasonably priced. The king prawn starter was very generous and the seafood risotto was perfect.

Living in Hull we only get over to this area every few weeks. We’ve been going in for a couple of years just for a drink but have started eating here since the new owners took over. As local farmers (the farm is over the road) their pork (from rare breed pigs raised with tlc) is excellent and as far as food miles go you don’t get much closer. Sausages are home made. Not a huge menu but we’d rather see a smallish menu than a chain pub menu where everything is out of the freezer and into the microwave or deep fat fryer. There’s also a lovely secure beer garden at the back for when the weather is good and when it isn’t there’s a roaring coal fire inside. Dog friendly too.

Was going to be down on business and noticed that this was a commuity owned pub after the local community raised the cash to keep the last pub in the village opened which is a really cool story. When
