We decided to go out for Dinner and picked Black lane ends due mainly to it's extensive Gluten free options and welcoming atmosphere we all had main courses we were checked with to see if we had allergens and the service was as friendly as ever i had the haddock and prawn mornay from the specials and my husband opted for his favourite burger The lamb with goats cheese my daughter the Gammon all in lovely evening as ever

What a wonderful, relaxing and cosy place to dine. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was as good as we have experienced at any pub, Large portions and very tasty and satisfying. A very large selection of drinks on offer. Highly recommended.

Our family's recent visit to Black Lane Ends was an experience that went above and beyond our expectations. From the moment we walked into the last spoonful of dessert. Black Lane Ends provided a a cozy atmosphere that made our family dinner feel like a special occasion, yet homely enough to relax and enjoy the chatter and laughter that seemed to resonate throughout the pub. Food is homemade and delicious with generous portions so bring your appetite! Outstanding service from Charlotte and Charlene who greeted us with a genuine smile.

Absultley spot on as usual. Our go to place for fantastic food/service and value. Also very good choice, for Gluten Free opions . We will be back very soon .

I had been looking forward the food here as it had been highly recommended by several people. However, we were far from impressed. There were 4 of us who arrived at 1pm on a Wednesday lunchtime. The pub was busy with diners as there was a 2 for 1 deal on selected January dates. 2 of our number ordered scampi. It arrived quite dark as if it had been in the deep fat frier too long. The chips were quite average and the peas arrived as the meal was 2/3 eaten. I had chicken Thai curry. The chicken was overcooked. The curry couod have had a bit more flavour. My wife had the liver which also was tough and very average. Her brocoli was yellowing and none of us was impressed sufficiently to want to rush back. I would have preferred to pay full price for better quality food. Sorry for the poor review but you failed miserably today. You only get 1 opportunity to make a 1st impression and this wasn't a good one.

A visit on a recommendation. Mid week but a warm and extremely welcoming pub with great fresh food and some excellent home made deserts (the jam roly poly was seriously welcomed). Lovely staff who made you feel at home and service very much with a smile. Some nice beer options and plenty of choices for those who are driving. Great value and I'll definitely pass on the recommendation made to us. We plan to visit again soon.

Used to love this place,it used to be great home cooked food with a great atmosphere, last few times it’s really gone down hill, They forgot my sons meal so waited 20mins whilst we ate ours then tried to charge us for it, there were the owners kids running around and the bar staff looked like they were having to entertain them! Not great at all, won’t be rushing back!

We arrived mid afternoon, it was not busy. I ordered fish n chips. When it came, it was more overcooked chips & a small piece of fish. So much so, the server said she would ask chef to cook another piece of fish. The mushy peas were very runny. My partner had Cajun chicken burger, it was also accompanied with masses of soggy overcooked chips. When we checked our bill we were over charged. It was corrected but we left without giving a tip.

Lovely service by Chantelle who was the perfect host. She ensured we had everything we needed and wanted. We had dinner and lunch there and it was lovely. Shame we had to return home after a lovely break staying in the area.

An expensive waste of money! Steak Sandwich - Hardly any steak in it! Bread was dry! No onion no mushrooms or anything just steak! £14 and I’ve had better and paid a lot lot less! More bread than steak! BLT my other half had was very poor too! Chips were extra and not the best either! My daughter had a goats cheese and mushroom sandwich which was just okay! All in all with drinks nearly £60 and it was not even average food! Will not be going back at all!

Amazing pub restaurant set in beautiful countryside. Wonderful warm friendly pub great atmosphere. Even though it was very busy service was good and attentive. We enjoyed the food, the menu is very varied with plenty of choice. We had a lovely time and will definitely return again.

We held a Wake here. The venue and staff were outstanding. There was plenty of parking too. The food was excellent value for money and could not be faulted. The staff could not do more for us, our family and our friends. They made us feel so welcome and blended into the background so it felt very private. It made a difficult gathering feel homely and personal. We really could not fault anything about the The Crown and would highly recommend them to anyone for any occasion. Thank you so much.

We stayed in a cottage nearby and visited on a couple of occasions, the first time just for drinks, the second for a meal. Both visits we thoroughly enjoyed and would certainly return if we were in the area again! The pub is in a rural location and has some fantastic views! We dined here on a Thursday when the pub do an offer of when 2 people order 2 courses you get a complimentary bottle of wine! Food was good honest pub grub, just what you want after a day of walking! The menu was extensive and I challenge anyone to not find something they would enjoy! Portions are generous and very reasonably priced! My wife had the cheese pie and declared it one of the nicest she’s ever had (I did manage to get a taste and fully concur!!). Service was great and all staff members wore a visor ensuring you feel at ease while enjoying your visit! Overall for great pub food in a superb location I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Black Lane Ends

Came here with my two kids a few weeks back, after camping in the local campsite. We hadn't booked ahead, but it was a Sunday evening and wasn't too busy. Was found a table pretty quickly. My eldest son (5 years old) was cold - the waitress looking after us agreed it was cold in the premises, and offered to put the fire on. She couldn't get the fire started and explained why (the reasoning didn't make sense to me, but never mind - I just had to get my son's coat from the car, so no big deal). My kids ordered a kids meal, and - to be honest,they really struggled with it - neither eating much of it at all. I had a burger, and it was not good - the burger was very overdone - I'm not to fussy, but this was the first time in a long time when I've order a burger on table service in a pub/restaurant and I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked - I didn't think to correct it until after it came. The chips seemed overdone to me (both for me and my kids)- perhaps it was the style of chips, but they didn't taste good - we all struggled. Chips should be the easiest thing to get right. I ordered two chocolate brownies for desert - and felt sick afterwards. We didn't finish them. In summary, it was not a great experience. The food was not brilliant, and the services was... well... awkward - not to do with COVID restrictions (I thought that was a big plus, and the (clearly) no nonsense but friendly proprietor behind the bar was also a plus). It was just that the table service was not that friendly, and I felt as though some requests (like asking for ketchup) were too much trouble or received with a bit of attitude (I am extremely polite, having waited tables myself, so I am very careful to be pleasant, so I know it wasn't me). I would avoid if in the local area. I spent three nights camping with my kids in the immediate vicinity, and there are much better places within a 1-2 mile radius (we ate in two other local places).

Me and my family have visited this establishment many times and I cannot think of a single fault. The food is always top quality and always perfect. The fish pies are always jam packed full of fish and perfectly cooked. The staff are very polite and friendly and gave top notch service. We will most certainly be coming again.

First visit in over 3 years on my 70th birthday. Chose thec10oz ribeye steak with chips @ £18.95. My wife had Special Chicken. My steak was tough and gave the impression of re-heated pre-prepared food, as no cooking smells were present in the car park or inside. The meat did not compare for flavour or texture with Wetherspoons steak, which incudes a drink. Previous experience of eating at The Black Lane Ends was one of succulent, locally sourced meat that your knife slides through and the meat literally melted in your mouth. The chicken breast on my wife's plate was flat in appearance, accompanied by a single scoop of dry mashed potato. For £13.95 the word special was a joke. Definitely off my list, which is so regretable for a potentially wonderful pub/restaurant.

Returning to Cheshire after a trip to Yorkshire we decided to call in at the Alma Inn for some lunch. Unbeknown to us the Alma had recently gone into administration and was closed. I remembered that a friend had recently recommended the Black Lane Ends as an alternative to the Alma.We obviously had not booked and although they were busy, had a table available. Since restaurants re opened we have been nervous about eating inside and preferred outdoor garden eating. The weather yesterday was way to cold and we had decided to risk eating indoors. We need not have worried because the Covid safety restrictions were excellent The food and service was very good, excellent choice and the bill (at full price)very acceptable. If we in the area again would definitely return.IN FAIRNESS TO THE OWNER I AM HAPPY TO COMMENT ON THE TWO RECENT POOR REVIEWS WHIC IN MY OPINION ARE TOTALLY UNFAIR.Had to ring a doorbell - did not take much common sense to realise this was part of Covid safety feature. Alternative to allowing public to walk in and loiter would be employing, at cost, an additional staff member to be stationed by the door.Arrived early not let in. - again small bar area to wait and Covid measure to ensure social distancing. Table may have been vacant but awaiting thorough cleaning. As we witnessed.Small table. - we saw the table you mentioned and it was what was. A table for two.75 min to complete your meal. - you were told this when you booked. If you weren’t happy why did you not go some where else.Guys. - this is a modern friendly term widely used in the service industry by younger members of staff. No way is it in any way derogatory and you should embrace it rather than expect Savoy service in a country pub. Said as a pensioner myselfVeg complaint. - I cannot understand if you are picky about the veg choice why you did not simply ask before ordering. - what the veg was? Which is exactly what my wife and I did yesterday. Was it my favourite choice of veg - No - but at least I was aware when I ordered my meal.This is a Country pub offering freshly cooked food, with an excellent choice at a very reasonably price with pleasant friendly service. Please enjoy it for what it is without looking for silly problems and use a little common sense before sledging a perfectly good business.

Arrived slightly early but seated and quickly served drinks. Excellent menu range catering for all tastes. Food arrived in good time, well presented and tasted good. Sadly disappointed about recent visit to this place......Had table booked for 7.30pmArrived at 7pm in torrential rain to be told ‘your table is not ready sit in your car’ by a very rude member of staff!Returned at 7.30 to see empty tables having witnessed only 4 people leave.We sat at our table & was later followed by 2 other tables take their tables.After ordering drinks no one came anywhere near our table.The later arriving tables were already tucking into food as we decided to throw in the towel & get out of the chaotic place.No apology & apparently we were getting served next!Our last visit here a while back was not good but decided to try againWhat a mistakeWhen we asked our order to be taken we were told 6 others had just gone in so we would be nextWe live very close by & it’s such a shame this sort of service still exits in this countryNEVER AGAIN

It is very rare that I give a review that isn’t 5 stars and I can see that most reviews of Black Lane Ends are complimentary. First impressions didn’t help as we had to ring the doorbell to gain admittance ( new covid procedure) . Must say we have done plenty of dining out under covid regulations but never had that before. Shown to a very small table for two, up against a wall and directly opposite the kitchen door so lots of coming and going. Were told we would here to vacate the table after 75 mins ( ok I was told that when I booked) Service just about polite - do not like being addressed as guys by waitress young enough to be my granddaughter . Food average, badly let down by veg - peas , sweetcorn , broccoli and sliced carrots all mixed together. Thankfully we were on Eat Out to help out -would certainly not liked to have paid full price. No-one came to ask us if everything was ok with our meal or when we paid the bill. Will not return and not recommend.

Visited here on a weekday evening a couple of weeks ago during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. There was sanitiser in the doorway and we were led to our table which was nicely distanced from other tables. The menu was extensive and so many gluten free and vegan options! The owner, after finding out I was coeliac, notified me of the two (!) gluten free beer options, and whilst we were having our meal she came over to chat to us about the menu. There were two gluten free dessert options, vegan options and even vegan ice cream!Overall would highly recommend, thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming service and was so nice to feel like people with dietary requirements were truly catered for rather than an afterthought. We will definitely be back!
