The best restaurants serving British food in Oldham North West

Great pub with delicious food. Came here twice now with bigger groups and all of us loved our meals. Staff is very kind and lovely too. Big car park and beer garden too.

My husband and I have been coming to the Wickentree for over 10 years and unfortunately we won’t be back again. We came a few months back and had a bad experience and meal but thought it may have been a one off but no today was even worse. My husband went up to pay and was told there was a 20-25min wait for the afternoon tea he said that was okay, the coffees were brought out soon after ordering they were lukewarm. After waiting 55 minutes for food my husband eventually asked about our food, the girl never came back to tell us the out come but 5 minutes later someone “rushed” out our food I say “rushed” as that’s what it was. All the food apart from the fish and chips were cold, the steak sandwich was just a piece of cold gristle and a bit of meal so much so my husband went to bite into it and the gristle just slid off the sandwich and it was hanging from my husbands mouth you couldn’t bite through it, so that was left. The gravy in the Yorkshire pudding was cold and congealed again that was left. They forgot to add the tartar sauce for the fish and chips, along with the clotted cream for the scone I had to ask for both of these items at separate times during my meal. There was no extra cutlery to cut the scone and add the cream and Jam so just wiped the one I had use for my meal on the napkin and then quickly found the scone was hard and stale when I accidentally dropped it on the plate with a thud. So at £30 per person it’s a lot to pay for 4 chips, a small piece of fish and then the rest of the meal was cold. They obviously forgot to send our meal out and left it waiting on the side then rushed it out with items missing. Not worth the money, won’t be eating here again and they need to employ more staff especially at dinner/lunch when it’s really busy. It’s such a shame as it used to be a really nice place to eat especially at this time of year with the Christmas shop downstairs.

Took my boyfriend in for breakfast as we was going to Rochdale , ordered a breakfast that came out on a small plate , egg was overdone and broke , ingredients where cheap .. but prices wernt . Miserable owner too . Won't be going again .

It was our first visit, for my birthday. Set menu great value, the dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. I'm coeliac, very happy with my choices plus the bread that came with it. Enjoyed the wines and choices of ales for hubby (the gf beer option was Peroni so gave that a miss). Nice friendly ambience created by staff and fellow diners. The 184 bus is very handy for the inn, we came over the hills from Marsden and didn't want to drive.

Food was great. Ben was attentive and a great server. Wasn’t a long wait for the food and when it came out it was fresh and hot. Ice cream is amazing would definitely recommend trying it!

Came for my birthday afternoon tea , walked through the door and was rudely questioned didn’t feel welcomed ,this was off putting. We were placed inbwetween two tables , it was very cramped and my balloons kept blowing in this poor girls face due to the lack of space given between the tables. The iced coffee were lovely but I’m afraid one came with a pube attached to the bottom , this shook my friend as she wanted to enjoy a iced vanilla late ideally pube-less , this was not noted on the dietary requirements . We asked for water but this was not served right away and I had to request again , to be honest I was parched , very dry mouth . My dehydrated freind started wheezing due to the lack of water and the pube in her Ice coffee. Then the afternoon tea, a plate of various sandwiches appeared at the table , we weren’t introduced to the fillings and were made to deceifer for ourselves , guessing after each bite , crusts were stale . The scones and cakes were lovely I’m afraid , though there could have been 4 of everything since we requested it for four people sus…. The overall atmosphere was nice.. I guess . There was a rude waiter staring at me the whole time very off-putting , although the lovely young man was very nice to pick up my coat and stroke my friends back … I felt … comfortable…he fluttered my heart… Though I was questioned by an old man waiter while I was just trying to empty my bladder . Are people not allowed to urinate anymore? On my way out I trembled on a piece of cake , I found myself sliding out of the door . I GOT SPAT ON

We recently lost my father in law & booked a one night stsy at what used to be our local pub/ hotel we travelled up from cornwall to visit family& need to book one night when fsmily were unable to put us up

Had a wonderful meal at the Whitegate this evening. We had the salmon and the steak and both were delicious. Service was excellent as usual from tia and molly this evening, all the staff are always a delight to speak to.

Disappointing food. I had the tuna croque but it was cold and tasteless. The service was good as usual but that was the worst lunch I’ve had there.

Over priced.. cafe run by silly girls. No coordination as to what menu was available and queuing time ridiculous. Won’t be going back

Visited here yesterday as a group of 12 for my birthday afternoon tea. Everything from booking to the experience itself was spectacular. The staff literally couldn’t do enough for us. The afternoon tea was delicious and every need was catered for. The staff were super attentive and we all had an amazing time. Thank you xxxx

A pub/restaurant with a friendly welcome and a wide ranging menu. Our food was simply delicious and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. All of this, along with the relaxed atmosphere definitely made our trip to the Puckersley Inn an evening which will be repeated.

Really slow service, it took twenty minutes to get coffee and cake. Staff weren’t attentive, they all seemed like they were on a go slow. Plenty staff, no service.

What an excellent cafe this is.It was our first visit after a walk from Slattocks.We had hot drinks and crumpets.The coffees were served piping hot and l asked for cheese on crumpets no problem service with a smile.We cannot wait to visit again well worth a visit.

Amazing place, will be so sad to see it go in a few weeks. Love the food, staff are fantastic, and every time I have been they have been supportive, helpful and fully experienced. Considering some are volunteering, they are an amazing team. The food has always been way above average. Will miss this place.
