Had a lovely afternoon tea here. It was a gift and the menu is varied . We shared a classic and a hot option . Both were lovely . The atmosphere is lovely and staff friendly

Definitely 5 out of 5! We went as a family with 2 young children and felt so welcome! The cater to everyone! Now do expect to pay a pretty penny for the food however it’s worth every penny! The food is devine, I paid £17.50 for the steak sandwich but it melted in your mouth and the bread was so soft!! We’ll 110% be back again! Even the kids menu had amazing choices!!

Nice place, food good, staff excellent but most annoying thing is having to go to the counter to order, pay, then sit down. Then if you want a dessert or another coffee you have to do it again. The place is not inexpensive so surely they could trust the waitresses (no waiters) to take your order?

Ordered four fish & chip meals in addition to two other choices. All four were served up with overcooked chips many of which were dark brown and crispy. Two members of party did eat the chips. Fish was excellent but chips spoiled what should have been a nice family meal. Nowhere near H U normal standard.

Bought house stuff from here before, called in to look at lights, could not find any (a lot of tacky shiny chrome stuff from China at big money) so went into their Wickentree cafe for some lunch, wish we hadnt bothered. The prices were ridiculous for what was served. "Mango and Brie Crispy Bites served with sweet chilli sauce £5.95..." This was two tiny out of the freezer filo bites deep fried with a thimble of sauce! "Homemade Soup of the Day £6.95..." Decent soup but tiny 1/2 size bowl with a small piece of bread.. "Hot Chicken and Bacon Caesar Wrap with hot chicken fillet, dry cured bacon, cos lettuce, parmesan cheese and caesar dressing £10.50.." Gosh, sounds great however reality was way diffrent! Not hot, no cheese and about 1/2 the size of a wrap you get for lunch from Tesco! "Large Chips £4.25" These were a joke, a small shaker of frozen fries, we questioned the portion, they said it was the large, we told them it was ridiculous and sent it back for a credit. The pleasant person serving agreed and said it is crazy, poor staff having to suffer needless customer issues. We dont mind paying the prices provided its decent value and quality but not when they are taking the mick. No wonder the owners cut about in Porsches and Bentleys with multi-million pound homes. Fair play if they gave decent value but shame on em' for ripping normal folk off! AVOID Stick to John Lewis...

Its always nice to see something new on the menu. We both ordered the HU hash. Sauted potatoes, peppers, onions, herbs topped with a poached egg. Very tasty and a nice change from the usual breakfast, our only observation was that it was to greasy...

i went for a sandwich decided not to bother as they had a picture in the main shopping area of my wife who left there threw being Bullied and treated really badly when she was ill with mental health problems. it made me sick to see they are using my wife Rita's picture to promote there restaurant after being told not to on many occasions what type of company would do that ? Just shows how fake they are !

Visited for afternoon tea which is always a pleasure here, staff very friendly and attentive and we enjoyed our afternoon tea which consisted of 6 finger sandwiches with various fillings, a mini scone with jam and cream, a slice of sweet sponge, a jelly and a fresh fruit tart, all items are mini sized but are very nicely presented and tasty, and as much tea and coffee as you like.

We recently visited Housing Units and decided to call into this restaurant -to be honest we were freezing and did not realise there was a cafe in the other building as we had parked nearer here! We enquired if we could just have a coffee and cake to warm up and they said yes sure! I was most surprised to see a very stylish Parisian styled restaurant with a pianist playing! We had a lovely coffee and cake -it was pricer than a cafe but not crazy and what you would expect from the surroundings. The food looked lovely and the ambiance was really nice -would visit again if we were passing and clearly some people go out of the way to go there and ring to book as there was someone doing just this as I was ordering!

My partner John and I visit Wickentree Restaurant on a regular basis. The staff are always extremely friendly and professional. We felt that we just had to write this review to praise two of Wickentree’s Jewels the lovely Rita and Barbara. Attention to detail and outstanding customer service is what these two ladies excel at, we always feel special and valued; even after being away for a few months they remembered us today and called us by our first names it made our day and to top it all off the food was delicious. Wickentree is where you go for the food but stay for the service from these two lovely ladies, they always greet customers with a genuine warm smile; but for us we can’t thank Rita and Barbara enough for looking after us, they give great advice on food choices, prompt and friendly service they really do make us feel like valued customers and look after our every need. Rita and Barbara have the gift of genuine enthusiasm and warmth for people, both ladies have given us the best customer experience on all our visits. Well done team Wickentree and special thanks to Rita and Barbara.

Very disappointing afternoon tea. Sandwiches lacked imagination, I am vegetarian and don't like eggs and my only option was cream cheese, a bit poor in 2018. The rest of the food was underwhelming to say the least, very small scone, and two pieces of sponge cake one replacing the flan I couldn't eat because of an allergy to kiwi, again a lack of imagination. Oh dear won't be returning, not at £17.95 a head......

On the snowiest of days, Wednesday 28th Feb, we met at the Wickentree for my friend’s birthday. We were greeted by Sue, who thanked us for coming and escorted us to our table.

Myself and mother and our family come here all the time for breakfast and dinner there is a lovely lady called Rita who is always very polite and helpful makes our visits everytime she brings over colouring for my little boy and is always very attentive xx

Had breakfast here with my daughter on Saturday. We were made to feel so welcome by Rita who looked after our every need and went beyond the call of duty helping me. The full English breakfast was First Class. All of the food on the plate was cooked to perfection and served piping hot. Need to purchase some more things for my house so will be returning to the wickentree again soon.

My family and I regularly visit this restaurant the food is lovely but it's the staff that make this place special. My 3 year old daughter is made to feel so special here and the staff are fantastic Rachel is brilliant and my daughter especially loves Rita and Barbara this is the place to see the perfect example of customer service.

Lovely restaurant at housing units. We visit here most weekends and food is always excellent the atmosphere is lovely. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff Rita is always friendly and helpful and very welcoming. Also Daryl is exceptional he is an asset to the restaurant he always has a chat and is very warm and welcoming. The service and food is hard to beat. We enjoy the breakfast which is served until 12.00 the best place to eat in Failsworth!!

Never even knew of the Wickentree, we have been to Housing Units before but not for a long while. Finding this lovely restaurant will defo be bringing us back. Rita welcomed us at the front desk and took us to our table whilst giving us lots of useful information about the restaurant and offers. She was so friendly, another reason we will be back, for sure. We had a lovely breakfast, see pictures and got 20% off too, again the lovely Rita made us aware of this. Can’t wait to try on a Thurs evening.

First of all I have to say 10/10 for the Staff who are excellent, the food we have previously have experienced has been of very good quality however ..we had our first FULL English Breakfast at £10 and for what we received, I was disappointed although the quality was very good over all I thought it was expensive ( I feel £8.50 would be more realistic ) when I compare with the £10 Breakfast at the Godolphin Arms Hotel Mounts Bay Cornwall

Whenever I am doing a bit of shopping in Housing Units I always love to relax in the restaurant with a coffee and a read of the paper they supply for the customers, and there is always lovely friendly waitresses to serve you like Rita who is always nice and thoughtful to you.

Superb service. Rita the waitress were more than helpful couldn’t do enough for us. Very polite and professional.

We often visit the Wickentree restaurant when shopping at Housing Units. The food is fantastic and the staff are friendly and helpful. I had chicken dijonnaisse which came with veg and parmentier potatoes whilst my husband had 3 way lamb which came with veg and potatoes. Both were delicious. For dessert I had the valentine special strawberry mousse cakes and hubby had lemon cheesecake. Both were delicious. If you’re looking for somewhere nice to eat and you don’t mind paying a bit extra for tasty, quality food then you can’t go wrong at the Wickentree!

Lovely food. The staff are amazing, especially Joanne and Rita. If the staff make a place they do! Can’t do enough for you. Always make an effort. Enjoyed by both adults and children. Very enjoyable experience.

Today as a member of a group of ten people (of various abilities and disabilities) we visited the restaurant to celebrate Our friend Irene hill 95th Birthday. What a fabulous fuss was made of us! The table was beautifully decorated, the attention to detail ensuring we had a wonderful time was incredible and the food was utterly delicious! Thank you so much to Barbara who seated us, Ann Leighteon who organised all our drinks, and to Rachel Ramsden and Daryl Rogers who made sure our every need was met. There wasn't a single moan of complaint only compliments of a fantastic time. The icing ion the cake being when the Full team of staff came to the table to present Irene with a lovely cake and sang happy birthday to her (there was barley a dry eye in in the place!) My wife and I returned here yesterday for lunch for the first time in several months. The restaurant itself was immaculate as always and as you would expect on a Saturday afternoon was pretty busy and buzzing with a good atmosphere. We were seated immediately.

Food at this restaurant is good and presentation even better. But I do so wish they would change their brown bread to one with more body to it and not as thick. Today I had an egg mayonnaise sandwich and my sister-in-law a fresh salmon sandwich - both beautifully served, fillings tasty with a nice side salad. Artisan breads are so tasty, full of body and less thick - please can these breads be used at the Wickentree.

We had a very enjoyable breakfast again this Thursday, as we have done every week for many years now. We’ve also enjoyed lunch, afternoon tea, and Thursday evening meal on a number of occasions. All the staff are warm, friendly and efficient and always acknowledge us and chat with us. The food is good and varied and the restaurant is well managed by Rachel and Daryl. It’s a favourite venue of ours and it is genuinely a pleasant dining experience. We have recommended it to friends and relations and they continue to enjoy the restaurant, too. Always look forward to our visits.

I visit here every couple of months for brunch and a catch up with some friends. The staff are always attentive, welcoming and polite, especially Rita who is usually our server for the day. Today visited for an 80th Birthday Celebration and the staff were so lovely presenting the birthday girl with a cake and her flowers which we had brought with us and singing along with us and the whole restaurant! The food is always lovely but I have only had the pleasure of eating from the breakfast menu. I keep meaning to go on a Thursday evening as I have heard good reviews about this also. Definitely worth a visit.

The Wickentree gives you the whole package. Excellent fish and chips served on lovely hot plates which makes such a difference. The staff especially Rita and Barbara always very helpful - nothing too much trouble. Housing Units are lucky to have such brilliant staff.

I love this place, it is such a treat, the soup and sandwich is beautiful and they make it much more than a 'soup and sandwich'. The surroundings are so nice, the cakes are heavenly, I have no will power and always end up with one even though I promise myself i will 'be good' and refrain.

Ate here after shopping in the store. Lift available to the first floor restaurant if needed. Pleasant staff showed us to our table. The system of ordering at the till works but be prepared to queue up when it's weekend. We didn't wait long for our drinks to be brought to the table. The food was delicious and very filling.

Ordered full English no beans no toast I was asked would I like extra egg yes Came with toast 1 slice bacon 1 egg 1 tomato 1 slice black pudding For £10.95 come on ridiculous price for that amount and greasy

Fantastically decorated place, really fits in well with the rest of the store. My friend had the open ploughman’s sandwich was she said was fantastic. Unfortunately my meal wasn’t as good, I had a steak sandwich which wasn’t seasoned when cooked and not allowed to rest so the juices made the bread very soggy. A shame really as I’d heard good things about this place

I met my mum here for breakfast one sunday morning, and considering it was around Christmas, it was nice and quiet (even with the families visiting Santa). we are fairly late (around 11am) but the breakfast was being served.

Brilliant service, very friendly and sociable staff, my fish and chips were amongst the best I have tasted in a longtime! My wife have the delicious homemade bacon and lentil soup, ideal on a winters day all served quickly by attentitive staff.

Called for lunch, I had the classic beef burger which was served on a wooden board with chips in a basket which all looked very nice, but to eat it you had to dismantle the beef burger which just made a mess it was very hard to eat, what's wrong with a plate ???. The taste was only average

Waited a whole A’s was very busy but staff were lovely and very accommodating... food presented and tasted lovely.. prices a little high but this is housing units... children adequately catered for too...

On our recent visit to Housing Units with my wife,daughter and her baby we visited the Wickentree for our lunch. Not wanting to be over faced we chose a roast pork sandwich from the special board. What a surprise at what was presented the sandwich came with stuffing apple sauce roast potatoes and gravy, and what a plate full it made. The restaurant was very busy but the service was quite good and the food was excellent, from a sandwich to a full roast lunch what a treat.

We had lunch there yesterday,we both had a two course meal,the restaurant was packed with families dining and the place was buzzing, the wait for a meal was only 15 minutes,the staff were their usual calm pleasant efficient way of interacting with people, the food was very good hot and tasty served as though we were the only customers there, So a Very Merry Christmas to all the Staff and we will see you in the New Year.

A popular restaurant, I thought was very expensive and on our last visit not great quality, had the carvery sandwich, no taste in the beef or chips, The childs meal not great value. Went as a shopping treat, felt let down this time.

Food was amazing, restaurant would need more staff as we had to wait a while for table to be cleared but all of the staff was very busy and very friendly. I had lamb of three it came with mini Shepard’s pie, sausage and chop with very tasty gravy. There’s very good selection of deserts and Afternoon tea options. There was a live piano music it was lovely touch and we ended up few times humming along with the music

Had an afternoon tea priced at £17.95. You have to order at the till. The sandwiches are not freshly made to order and lack a bit of flair and imagination. Egg, cream cheese, chicken and stuffing etc. The garnish was about 6 small leaves. The so-called "champagne jelly" didn't impress. Obviously my uneducated palette could not identify the subtle difference between this and ordinary Hartley's. There was a small slice of sponge cake, a small fruit tart which collapsed when lifted due to the soggy bottom, and finally a scone that could only be described as rock hard with the usual jar of jam and a similar jar re-cycled to hold the whipped cream. When we complained about the scones it was explained that sometimes the staff "warm them" (presumably in a microwave). It means they rapidly dry out and go hard. The replacements were little better. Not that I buy them but, I imagine really cheap supermarket scones taste similar. They were not good. As it's not table service, it's not always easy to catch someone's attention to replenish hot drinks. The surroundings are pleasant and on the whole so were the staff. However, as I would mostly choose places to eat based on the quality of the fare, this is one I'll be giving a miss in future.

My Wife and I regularly visit both the Coffee Shop and Restaurant and usually find both very good.

Called in around 5.30pm for a quick cuppa and a cake. Place was virtually empty and the staff were congregated around the till area. I ordered cup of tea and a vanilla slice. I was flabbergasted when I was charged £7.45!! The cake was nothing special and it cost £4.75. The waitress brought the items to the table and gave me a tiny spoon to eat the cake. I asked for cake fork and she just pointed to the tiny spoon!!

Absolutely fantastic food and even better service from Rita and the girls! The scrambled eggs are a personal favourite and highly recommended. Get yourself one of their privilege cards and make this place a regular treat!

Lunch with work colleagues, lovely beautiful place. Friendly staff, fabulous food. I had the poached salmon lemon and dill sandwich, very nice and fresh.

Lovely lunch in the restaurant, it was extremely busy, but we were warned when booking that there may be a wait for food as all the teachers in Oldham must be having lunch there as it was half term! Quite amusing as my daughter who was making the booking is a teacher.

My partner and I visited the Wickentree Restaurant as I was keen to introduce him to the world of afternoon tea. It is safe to say that he wasn’t disappointed. We both decided to choose the gentlemen’s afternoon tea as it offered a great selection of sweet and savoury treats. The gentlemen’s afternoon tea consisted of a mini Yorkshire pudding with roast beef, mini fish and chips, pork pie, sandwich, chutney, scone and a cream cake. Although it isn’t table service for ordering the staff couldn’t do enough for you and were very attentive at refilling cups of tea & coffee. I would recommend booking a table in advance so not to be disappointed as it can get quite busy in there.

Just had lunch in the wickentree restaurant we both had king prawn salad over priced for what you get & prawns over cooked really disappointed.

Today we had an Afternoon Tea. The food was great, particularly the cakes and pastrys. Service was excellent with attentive staff.

A great shopping destination that has furnished most of my home. The restaurant has a chap tinkling the ivories on a lovely piano. Always lovely staff who are very helpful and always smiling. The Afternoon Tea looked amazing - but we only saw this after ordering. Missed the little tent card on the table - waitress should of brought this to our attention when seating us. You have to go to the counter to order and pay - it’s a lovely place that should really do full service?? Onto the food Caesar Salad with Chicken & Bacon big tick from my bro - just needed a little extra dressing (which was provided). Cheese on toast for the missus - which she absolutely loved, random bit of bacon on the side which was awesome but not really required. A bit of confusion with my dodgy eyesight and a scribbled specials board - Sunday Lunch was on my agenda - I saw chicken or pork with trimmings etc. But I didn’t read the pork was a sandwich, only the chicken was a dinner. So disappointed to receive a pork sandwich which failed to impress. I am going to be super critical because I was already on a downer from not getting the pork dinner I thought I was getting - so apologies as I made the original mistake.

Been in a couple of times recently whilst Christmas bauble shopping and as usual everything was great! We was greeted and waited on by the lovely Rita, actually I don’t think the place would be the same without her! Going again soon on Thursday evening to try the new autumn menu 2 for £25 which is great vale 2 courses each and a glass of wine.

Favourite place for a fuss off staff, piano playing and fabulous food , spotlessly presented, lovely decor and shopping for afters.

I met a business associate for lunch and the service was spot on, the food was delicious and well priced. We were served by Rita and she couldn't do enough for us, she is a credit to the company. Will definitely be coming back.

Visited 5th October to take advantage of their Thursday promotion. Two courses with a glass of wine for £24.99 per couple. The added advantage is that up to two children eat free. We took our grandchildren and the food was excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxed with a chap playing the piano in the background. The children were given crayons and sheets of colouring paper to occupy themselves until food came. The set menu provided great choice for ourselves and the children. Overall great value and highly recommended.

I visited the wickentree restaurant for the first time today and I will definitely be going again! From the moment we arrived we was greeted by such a lovely and friendly member of staff (Rita) who went above and beyond to make our time there enjoyable. The food was gorgeous and the strawberry and cream tart was amazing! Would definitely recommend and looking forward to returning again.

My sister and I had lunch here today. I can recommend the salmon and dill sandwich, it was delicious. Like other people who have commented I think the food for what it is is very expensive. Good service and relaxing atmosphere though.
