So it’s Whit Friday, it’s craziness - we’re on the walks, we get to the cafe to order 2 drinks and told it’s a 25 min wait? For drinks? It seems the two delightful and pleasant servers who were taking orders, stayed calm and friendly but said only two others ‘behind the hatch with one coffee machine’? Really, they lost so much business from the bands who turned away - just have some filter coffee pots on the go, serve them up, pass them through - bacon and sausage muffins taking nearly half an hour? Some basic cafe management needed there - I was discussing with my friend who is an experienced member of a local business (cafe) she advised me to leave a review so the management can receive feedback and try a different approach next year

I have visited 3 times in the last month - once to sit in and eat and the other 2 times for coffee to take out. Staff are friendly and the place inside is lovely, warm and inviting. There is also seating just outside the front door, and more tables across the courtyard. The food was nice when I sat in to eat, but wait times for the take away coffee was too long, especially when the cafe wasn’t that busy.

It was so good here I went twice in one day . Breakfast and 11’s. Bacon butty was perfectly prepared. Chef cut the “ flubby “ bits off and meat was cooked to perfection. Small pot of tea but I got two good cups. All for under a fiver. Sat up stairs so the girl who looked after us had to schlepp up the wooden hill three times . There’s two things I like with my bacon sandwich. Brown sauce and a smile. Billie gave us both. Sorry I only had 50p in change for a tip so I hope this 5 star review makes up for it.

Not sure what has happened to this place but it seems every time we visit the service is disappointing. Waiting times are generally unacceptable. Writing this review as we were forgotten about completely on our last (and final) visit. We asked to be sat upstairs as our daughter likes it up there. Was told by a waitress that she would come up to take our order soon. 20 minutes later she hadn’t so we left. As we passed the serving area all the staff were just chatting. It’s no wonder that Saints is always quiet and other coffee shops and bars are heaving with customers, get the feeling the staff can’t be bothered. Such a shame.

Food and coffee good. Strange having tortilla chips with bacon bagel for breakfast. Chairs really uncomfortable and unstable. Where’s the lovely sofas and comfy chairs gone from upstairs? No cushioning on seats so cold and unwelcoming. The legs felt like they could collapse any second. Cheap plastic flowers. Sink in toilet pink bacteria around plug hole. Toilet flush button missing just a plastic stick to press. Will go again if improves. Staff didn’t look happy in their work

Arrived for lunch at 12.15pm. Tried to order two jacket potatoes off the board... no jackets available, tried to order sweet chilli chicken panini. Off the the board .. no sweet chilli available. Ordered a bbq chicken panini and cheese salad with brown bread, two diet cokes! 5 mins after order two full sugar cokes arrived.., and returned for what I had ordered. 5 mins later we were told there was no bbq chicken either... which was on the board menu. We ordered a cheese and tomatoe toastie instead. When the food arrived toastie very basic and frankly not worth 3.75, although we had paid 5.75 originally for the panini and was not given the difference on a refund. Cheese salad sandwich arrived and was presented lovely... however, I was told , sorry it’s got flora spread on is that ok we forgot you ordered it on dry bread, there’s only a thin layer though!!!!!!!! Of which I asked kindly for a replacement as I don’t like spread of any sort. The sandwich returned 10 mins later... oh my god what an insult.. two slices of thin cheap bread slapped together with ONE small lettuce leaf and Two slices of non tasting tomatoes, One thin slice of cheese with around 6 crisps...literally that was it. £14 . Never returning... very very disappointed as the quaint little cafe looks very sweet and inviting...but, no absolutely do not recommend.

Waited 35 minutes to receive an order of a platter and a toastie- the cafe was not busy and no apology was offered! Wish that we hadn't bothered to wait. The platter consisted of a few limp and chopped lettuce leaves, a bit of pate and 2 small slices of toast (not warm bread or pitta as described) for the overblown price of £6.99. The toastie was hardly any better value at £3.95. Surely there is a need to step up the game, post Covid closure?

A quaint setting and had a fantastic breakfast here on our first visit, really could not fault it. Our second visit wasn't as good, food was pretty average and although not particularly busy took a long time to arrive. There where lots of staff around, but slow to clear tables as people left. If you want anything else after you've ordered, be sure to flag them down as otherwise you will be left waiting for some time (we where). Sanitation was pretty good though in light of the situation. There is now a Takeaway window booth too which is pretty busy. Staff are friendly though, just felt a little unorganised.

Thursday lunchtime just befog xmas, cafe was very quiet. Not that quiet was a problem, prefer that. 3 staff and 1 customer when I entered. Placed order at till (hot beef panini) and found a clean table among those that had not been cleared from previous customers, and sat down. Shortly after sitting down, 2 other gentlemen entered and took seats at the table next to mine. They seemed to know the older waitress whom (I assume is also the proprietor) quite well and a conversation began between them.Drink arrived without unreasonable delay and food about 5 minutes later. Very disappointingly it was microwaved (both the beef and the panini). By this time the older waitress had moved closer to the 2 people at the table next to mine and then decided to sit on the corner of my table. The tables are pretty small, maybe 2ft square, so there I was eating my microwaved panini with someone's arse on my table. Food around standard price for the area but much lower quality in terms of ingredients and preparation. Won't be back.

You would expect on one of the busiest weekends of the year in Uppermill (Yanks Weekend) that the cafe would be prepared. Unfortunately, my experience fell well short of what I was consider even reasonable. All I wanted was a coffee. Just the one Latte. Nothing outrageous. However, I placed my order 2:20pm, and sat at a table immediately by the serving area. My table still had on a used plate and cup from a previous customer. Another table had a multitude of used crockery on it. Orders were being taken at a steady pace, but I noticed several people come up and ask where there order was. One lady ended up having to swap to takeaway drinks as her order had taken so long. My table was cleared after about 20 minutes. The pots were removed, but the table itself wasn't cleaned, and was full of crumbs. After 25 minutes enquired where my drink was. "It shouldn't be long" was the reply. It eventually arrived, 35 minutes after ordering. I could have driven back home to Rochdale and made my own coffee in that time. Poor service. Very poor. I personally will not be visiting again. You may make up your own minds.

We went in late-morning hoping for breakfast. They don't serve breakfast, so two of us had the breakfast ciabatta/panini. The breakfast filling was cold and the bread would benefit from toasting. The choice for our vegan friends was almost non-existent. They couldn't have hummus and roasted veg ciabatta as they hadn't roasted any veg yet. Nor could they have soup as they hadn't made the soup yet (so no idea if it was going to be compatible with vegan). So their only choice was falafels. Not what they wanted but it was edible.

Living close to the edge of the Pennines, it is easy to take so much for granted. The beauty and character that can be found in those northern towns and villages can never be overstated... My recent time in Uppermill, a Yorkshire village in the district of Saddleworth and only a few miles from Oldham easily illustrates this. The "Saints"Cafe in the centre of Upermill borders the King George V playing fields and clearly exemplifies all that is good in the village and a must to travellers needing a well earned break. Whether the sun shines or the rain is falling The "Saints" Cafe has a special quality. Many will have mentioned the excellent choice of food on offer. Although I am particularly fond of their Hot Chocolate. A first floor lounge not only allows you space to enjoy your meal but also offers an excellent quiet area to sit and read or just to relax and collect your thoughts. It would be unfair not to highly recommend this place. Look it up, you will not be disappointed.

My friends and I have never been to this area before but stopped at Saints Cafe whilst walking around. It has plenty of seating, indoor, outdoor and then more upstairs. I opted for the hummus, pitta and falafel which was too much for me to eat even though I'd been on a walk! There was a great selection of cakes which all looked amazing. We went for red velvet and chocolate brownie and weren't disappointed. I finished off with a pot of tea which all came in for less than a tenner which I thought was great value. The staff were friendly and we weren't waiting long even though it was a busy sunny day.

I came across this lovely little cafe hidden in an old square off the main street in Uppermill. Only small with cafe tables downstairs and a relaxing lounge above, with great views out the back. The menu of light meals and sandwiches seemed extensive. My choice proved freshly prepared and tasty. The staff were all friendly, polite and efficient. I will certainly visit again when in the area.

Over-priced, very slow bad service, brought the wrong order and had to wait 25 minutes for our food, very expensive for very cold ordinary bland food, never again!

This is a lovely little comfortable place, which is ideal to spend some time in. The staff are delightful and friendly, and the coffees and cakes etc are very reasonably priced. We will certainly return the next time we visit Uppermill. There is even parking close by (If you are lucky to find a spot!)

Small friendly run cafe - lovely views from upstairs over the canal and bridlepath. More importantly thought the food is delicious served fresh to order in a pleasant little cafe. Open each day from 9am - around 3.30pm - Good selection of menu at reasonable prices, love their bacon muffins and coffee. Good place to relax chat without too much background noise.

I have eaten here a couple of times and have not been disappointed. Excellent food, and excellent service. Four of us went yesterday, sat outside as we had a dog with us, staff really friendly and they made my nephew a tuna panini even thought it wasnt on the menu. Good value for money. Would highly recommend.

We have eaten at Saints on the last two consecutive Sunday afternoons. The first sunday as a group of six. The second sunday just we two. Both times it was a very enjoyable experience. The food is great quality, menu has a good range especially vegetarian. The staff are superb.Very young and very very good. They are completely tuned in to what the customer wants. Obviously well trained and operate as highly competent and friendly them. We will keep returning. The best little eatery in Uppermill.

I hadn't been in since the refurbishment, but it is much improved. We managed to get a downstairs table and were served promptly. The cappuccino actually tasted like coffee, unlike some in the area. We had a slice of cake each too, as there was a good selection of about a dozen options, including red velvet cake. The bill was a round £10 for 2 people.

Called here this afternoon, stumbled upon just by chance, and we were so happy we did. Immediate warm welcome from the friendly staff. Coffee shop style menu with sandwiches, soups, cabanas and paninis. All freshly prepared to order. Great coffee and a wide range of homemade cakes, including gluten free options. Downstairs is a cosy, busy cafe and upstairs on the first floor is a relaxing lounge with a mixture of small tables and sofas. Perfect for a chill out or a quiet chat. Free wifi and a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely be a regular haunt for us!

Uppermill has more than its share of restaurants and coffee houses but Saint's is one of my favourites. The seating area upstairs is beautifully and comfortably furnished and the staff courteous and friendly. The cakes are all home made and of a really high standard and there is always a wide choice to tempt even the fussiest of eaters. A real gem.

I booked an Afternoon Tea for 25 of my friends at Saints - it was absolutely fabulous - all my friends commented how lovely it was. Such a relaxed atmosphere to chat and catch up. The staff were all very helpful and kept topping up the food and drinks. I would definitely recommend a visit to Saints.

We've been here several times (both before and after the refurbishment) and, sadly, all experiences have been disappointing. The refurbishment is nice but the staff are rude, lacking any sense of customer service. The lady at the counter spoke to us very rudely and was tutting and "huffing and puffing" while we were ordering.Service is slow (30 minutes for a coffee and cake and longer for lunch) and most of the times we have visited, there's been a reduced menu because of either lack of staff or lack of supplies or because it's 45 minutes to closing time. Save you time and money and go somewhere else like Java or Kitty's.
