Really lovely staff who can't do enough to help. I have only bought cake and drinks, but i haven't heard anything negative about this cafe.

Excellent food, first class service, spotlessly clean cafe, staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, would highly recommend a visit, wish I’d found this place sooner.

Ordered a sausage butty and a latte as usual... asked for extra butter as I don't have sauce and the woman in the back that wasn't serving me jumped in and said extra what? So I repeated extra butter please and she said they are only supposed to put a certain amount on. Luckily the woman who was actually serving me ignored this pathetic statement and did give me extra butter.

Lovely atmosphere. Staff were really friendly. Really comfortable. Was pleased to see a stock of female sanitary items in the loos. Nice touch. Didn't have food off the menu as my visit was following a funeral. The meat and potato pie was good. Coffee was good.

Usually a great restaurant with great service but last night was horrendous. Had to wait 2 hours for a meal due to a private party upstairs that they felt was more of a priority than the customers downstairs. Other customers had the same waiting time as us one family even walked out. Manager didn't seem interested when we said we wouldnt be returning it's a shame because I.m sure we won't be the only ones that won't be going back.

Visited Monday lunchtime (and have done many previous Monday lunchtimes) with my wife, mother in law and dog. The welcome is always warm and friendly, the service is always excellent, it's a gorgeous place to sit, and the food is always absolutely delightful ! The "Moo Monday " steak offer is incredible value and delicious... I would recommend visiting the website for all the menus and offers! A really interesting range of starters, perfectly cooked Steaks, a cracking pint and a fantastic wine list! There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this pub.... Don't be put off by negative stuff written below, go visit, eat, drink and be merry! You'll thank me for it!!👌😊 Keep doing what you do Waggon.... we love it ❤️

As a party of 4 adults we went for lunch, having booked for 1pm. We all had different experiences with the food, hence the 3-point overall score. One meal, the steak pie, was rated very good; two meals, lasagne, had obviously been heated up in the microwave, making them extremely hot (burning tongue hot) & very dry & hard around the edges. The final meal was braised steak. The meat looked lovely, but in fact was extremely dry & stringy & a good portion had to be left. To give credit to the chef, we were told he was not happy with it & that meal was refunded. Where we were very unhappy was the service. Our waitress was very friendly, but we were sat with the menus for a long time before our first course order was taken. Once finished, we then had a long wait before anyone came back to the table so we could ask for the dessert menu. These appeared & we were again left to wait for our order to be taken. During this time most of the diners were leaving & eventually we appeared to be the only ones left. We were sat in a corner in the window. It wasn't until a different waitress came to start cleaning the table behind that we were able to order. As she took our order, at the same time she told us the restaurant closed at 3:00 pm. It was now 2:45 pm. We were all taken aback by this rude comment & the unnecessary way in which it was delivered, especially as the time situation was entirely brought about by themselves & their poor service. The two desserts, sticky toffee pudding & custard (which were very nice), one cappuccino & one decaf tea, we're delivered by this second waitress. As we started to eat & drink the lights started to go out!! The men were able to finish their puddings, as they were only warm, not hot, but the ladies were unable to finish their drinks as they were very hot, especially the cappuccino. We felt extremely rushed & it was an awful end to having a meal & catching up with friends. On leaving there were only the two young waitresses visible by the bar, & as we were saying our farewells outside, they followed us out. All the above totally spoilt the whole experience.

Came here this evening. Probably about 10 ish tables in so not mega busy, told on arrival they were out of approximately 40% of the main menu as the chef who ordered the food in had left and not put an order in( for a pub that’s just reopened its doors after previous mismanagement this is not what you want to hear). Was seated quickly , waited about 5 minutes before food and drink orders taken. We only had main meals , ordered a burger with an extra patty. Waited about 15 minutes for drinks to arrive to find the coke was flat. Asked waitress and she changed. Still flat. Didn’t say anything as it clearly wasn’t changing anything. After another 20 minutes I could see other tables who ordered their mains after us got theirs before us. Then a waitress came out and said that there was only 1 patty left and did I want halloumi instead. I begrudgingly agreed. Waited a further 20 minutes for our food to be presumably cooked from then and the burgers came out with patties that looked like they were frozen. The meat was almost rubbery like you’d get from a dodgy takeaway. Usually I wouldn’t mind this after a few pints but with the extras the burger cost 16 quid. Chips, were Luke warm at best and there was about 6. No coleslaw as pictured on Facebook. 2 other party members ordered the steak and ale pie and their meat was tough and chewy. Asked for sauces as not to make a scene and make the best out of a bad situation. 10 minutes later they arrived. All in all poor. Will not be returning even if the ownership changes. After the previous management I didn’t think it could get worse. Boy was I wrong. Also. The pictures I have provided 1 is taken from their Facebook and the other I took of my poor effort of a meal . Poles apart

Beautiful location and building. We all had a 3 course Sunday lunch and everyone loved it. The staff were superb and we were well looked after. I have to give a special mention to the fish galette starter (fish cakes) which were the freshest, lightest and crispiest fish cakes I've ever had, truly blown away by them. The beef on the roast dinner is special, perfectly cooked and melts in the mouth. Cannot fault the place and would highly recommend.
