The food here is absolutely delicious

Lovely pub, fabulous curteous staff and decent food. Only downside was that our food was served on wooden platters. Not very hygienic in my opinion. However, it would not put me off returning, I would just ask for a plate next time.

Popped in for a late lunch. Prices are very fair and the food was super. Would definitely eat here again. Many thanks.

Lovely place in Uppermill. Wonderful place, lovely staff, lovely food and decent wine. The outdoor garden was relaxing. They have a pizza cabin in the garden. Lovely atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed with two older ladies that tried to get a deal that wasn't on that day. They upset one of the bar staff. No need for treating her like that. Apart from that yes it was lovely 😍

First time eating here today, on a friend's recommendation, and omg they didn't disappoint. Both of us had the Beer & Treacle Glazed Ham with triple cooked chips, seed mustard cabbage, slow cooked hen's egg and pineapple chutney which was *chef's kiss* delicious 😋 Got our husky, Ollie, a doggy ice cream which he thoroughly enjoyed too and it was a reasonable price 😁 Already booked to go back!

Came here for food with a group of mates, thought that it was very average for the price point. I had pate starter, which was ok. My friends seabass was really overdone and tough. Others had prawns which were good. Mains were not great. I ordered a blue fillet steak which came out medium (though my friend rare one was actually rare). Other has the S&A pie which they said was alright, but not great. Desserts were again, ok. I had the sponge which was nice. Friend said the chocolate cake was pretty tasteless. Really nice atmosphere though and lovely village. Max 3 out of 5 due to price.

The flood was lovely , quick and professional service.

The waiting staff was really nice and friendly. The food was not good enough for the prices they charge. I had a Sunday roast with lamb and I was not able to eat any of the lamb it was so fatty and chewy, I get it was bank holiday and busy but it was like I got the bad cuts of meat shoved on my plate. The wait time for food was over an hour which was way too long.

Lovely food and a local feel to the location. Nice setting to meet friends for a drink, meal or an afternoon coffee without feeling rushed by the bar staff.

Fabulous breakfast in beautiful Uppermill, highly recommended. Eggs Benedict and plenty of coffee for me.

Just a Very Over Priced Robbies Pub Nothing to write home about for sure, Very Hit & Miss (food) Staff full of themselves But In a Great Location. Think EXPENCIVE if you wish 2 Go.

Had the set menu at lunchtime. The risotto was underwhelming but otherwise would still highly recommend. Prawn starter and white pudding lovely, halibut lovely.

Great pub few pretentious types go in talking loudly about money and how important they are ( fools) but the service and food is spot on . I am gluten free and was presented with my own menu and told separate fryers prep areas etc for gf . Had garlic mushrooms for starters very tasty has chopped onions and spring onions on too unusual but tasty twist and the gf bread was good. Mains the large gf haddock very impressive . I’ll be going again top place . Note to locals get a grip talking loudly about the importance of being you is ridiculous

Had caeser salad which was delicious but was disappointed that the croutons were not homemade.

Worked at the waggon, admittedly only two shifts, never got paid for one of the shifts due to an application not saying I clocked out. Emailed the owner and never had a reply back for the money I’m owed. Not only is it illegal not to pay a staff due to an error in ‘clocking out’ but having no contract and no policies is against employment law. Won’t be going back! to say they charge £8 a pint and can’t pay me for 5 hours is a new type of greed.

Nice pub, but charging way too much for the quality of food. Was average bog standard pub food at quality restaurant prices. i had chicken wings for starters and the flavour was great but they were the consistency of much, you wouldn't think they were chicken. I then had the steak for main which was cooked well (medium rare) but looked and felt exactly like a weather spoons steak; tough and chewy but tastey none the less. We arnt slow eaters but the meal took around 2.5hours with starters and desserts, felt as if we were sat waiting around waiting for service for the majority. Not worth going back to.

Went for my Brother's 60th birthday meal in December 23 for a party of 16. To the best of my knowledge everyone enjoyed their meal. Nice bar, recommended.

Staff were helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. Best haluoumi fries I've had.

The one star is for the 1 minute of warm air we got while we waited to be rejected for a table. This place has an allergy to walk-ins customers. Turned up on a Saturday afternoon (the biggest money making time). Apparently no tables available, although half the place was empty and about 10 people eating. This has been the umpteenth time this has happened. Felt like an inconvenience. Place across the road got our dollar instead.

Went for a Christmas meal with friends, such a lovely pub! Beautifully decorated, amazing service, friendly staff and gorgeous food- will definitely be back next Christmas or earlier!

We had waited for our Christmas meal and wanted to impress our staff but we left feeling let down by the quality of the main course. The starters were ok, not brilliant, I tried the ox cheek for the very first time but felt they were overcooked. Three of us had the leg of lamb and we were all disappointed with the quality of the meat and the presentation was really poor. The desserts were very good but We expected so much more from the Wagon. The service was good but the food left us feeling a bit let down.

Lovely pub with great food and really nice atmosphere. Have visited the Waggon a few times and has always been reliable. Not the cheapest, but worth every penny as the food, service and surroundings are spot on 👌 Would highly recommend to anyone in the Uppermill area. Great for a Sunday Roast!

Really nice pub, with a good atmosphere and very friendly staff. I am so impressed that they have a vegan menu and clearly list which of their wines are vegan. I love this inclusive and progressive approach, which many other pubs/restaurants haven’t even considered. I will definitely be coming here again.

Lovely pub but understaffed and over priced.

The main made up for the poor starter. The chicken wings were shocking. If I hadn't already ordered a main I would have left. Came in a think batter that was soggy with the sauce and chicken was brown and way overcooked. I wouldn't have served it.My filet was beautiful though and cooked to perfection. My wife had the Sunday roast and was very impressed. Cauliflower cheese was poor. No bechamel just a bit of cream poured over boiled cauliflower and cheese melted on top. Cocktails were ok not good. Old fashioned had a glacé cherry instead of a maraschino. Passionfruit Marguerita had a salt rim. Didn't work. Change for a sugar rim

We visited the Waggon for breakfast as it was my birthday. We’d prebooked the table. On arrival we were told we would be seated at high stools. I explained that my elderly mother who has a disability would not be able to sit on a stool. Although they did change the table we were told that we should have explained this at the booking stage as this question is asked. This is not true. There is no such question at the booking stage. We then waited over 15 mins to receive menus and only received drinks after 30 mins. It’s was 1 hour and 15 mins before our breakfast arrived. They were cold and my mum who is vegetarian had bacon on her plate which she hadn’t ordered. Staff were stood around whilst others were run off their feet. It seems they have designated roles. So if the bar is not busy, the bar staff can just stand around chatting. Very poor service and cold food. Disappointing!

Came here on a Saturday evening with my parents to celebrate their anniversary. We all loved it. The atmosphere was great , staff were attentive and helpful and the food was lovely. Would definitely come again for a special occasion.

Travelled from Lincolnshire for a family reunion owing to recommendation. Food was poor after waiting one hour from ordering. Manager assisted in our complaint and gernerously reduced the bill. I like to think it was a one off, but the manager was kind and helpful. Thank you.

Went few weeks ago with friends, was really good, so went back couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed 😞

I booked online for 13:30, We went for dinner and arrived at 13:05 and was seated straight away, we was trying for a while to be served with drinks, which took around 20mins for us to receive them, which was nothing special a couple of Pepsi’s and a vodka and Pepsi. We had our order for food take which arrived at 14:20, which was Haddock, chips & Peas with tartare sauce and cheese & onion pie with beans and some salad. The fish and chips was nice but, the cheese and onion pie was warm, the beans was in a watery sauce barely warm, the chips was mad hot which burnt my mouth as I wasn’t prepared for part of the meal to be so hot when the rest was barely warm! And I don’t even know what the small bit of salad was all about 🤷‍♂️. It was a good job I was in good company and we had lots to talk about. Wouldn’t go again and don’t think I would recommend it.

We have visited this lovely pub quite a few times in recent weeks and absolutely loved every single visit! The food is absolutely delicious, the service professional and friendly at the same time. We would highly recommend 😊

We were then when the weather was bad and as we had a dog with us we sat outside in the covered area. This is very nice there were heaters and it would be lovely in the good weather. The food was good but a bit expensive but the staff were very friendly and helpful

We recently visited for a family lunch and we were very impressed by the menu. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and accommodating and they have great outdoor seating. Would definitely go back!

Visited yesterday for lunch. Set on a very busy road. The outside seated area is ok for a quick drink but noisy. The rear garden is lovely and much quieter. Reasonable selection of beer and wines. Menu not overly ambitious which means that dishes they do are well prepared. Prices reasonable.

This place is fantastic. We have been many times and it just gets better and better! Not only is the food fresh and delicious, the decor is beautiful and always clean, the atmosphere is always great. The staff are an absolute credit to the owners, their all so friendly, professional and always happy to help even when their all so mega busy...absolutely love it here and highly recommend. I'm not too sure what the manager is called but he's absolutely fantastic always happy and runs a very tight ship..Well done to you all! Without a great team you wouldn't be so successful. I really enjoyed it here. The atmosphere was nice. Inside was very stylish and open. I ordered fish and chips. They were really crunchy chips and the batter was crunchy too. The ourdoor seating area was njcd and big too.

I only write reviews when somewhere is poor or very good. Here it was poor service and it wasn't busy.We were told there was a 15min wait for food.which is fine, Over 1 hour later we were served after asking how much longer would it be. No apologies when the food finally arrived. Food pricey and just ok .

What can I say….Outstanding,from the moment we arrived to the finish. Our starters were perfect And our meals were more than we expected. The service is just above and beyond. Penny was just fabulous and Matthew the cook has to be The best cook we’re been cooked for in a long while.

Service good, but the food was average, especially for the price. If you pay £16+ for a burger, you expect some flavour. Unfortunately, all you could taste was grease from the batter. I think they get away with charging high prices due to the location. However, there are much better options in the vicinity for a similar price. £8 for a desert as well! Please, im not in central manchester.

Came for lunch midweek and we were very pleased. Two had lunch from the sandwiches, very good, one had Caesar salad, very good, and one had a starter and main from the 2 course 'deal' for £17 also very good. There was a choice of real ales, unfortunately our first choice was end of barrel, but it was quickly replaced, without fuss and the replacement was good. Service was good. We'll be back.

Our first time visiting. Greeted by lovely staff who worked well as a team and were so very attentive. A great menu with plenty of choice and something for everyone. Mussels to start followed by Sausage and mash and my partner had salt and pepper squid with a fillet steak to follow. Food was perfectly good and nicely seasoned - the chef clearly knows how to cook and present the food well. The mussels were the best I have had for some time- and a generous portion too. No room for ours sadly but such a lovely lunch. We will be heading back next time we are in town. Totally recommend.

We came here for an evening meal and was really pleased we had. The decor has had a big refresh inside and out, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service - would definitely come again. I tried the double steak burger - a brilliant option if you enjoy blue cheese!

We called in here for something to eat. It wasn't planned, we had picked up a new car from BMW Derby, so after a 2hr drive cross country it seemed a good idea. We definitely were not disappointed, everything lived up to our expectations. The building spotless & full of character The staff so polite, helpful & efficient Finally the food, I had a pulled pork burger. It was very well presented ( lightly battered gherkin on top held with a cocktail stick, easy to take off if gherkins aren't for you, or a tasty twist on the topper)the burger itself was in my opinion the best I've had, thick juicy tender and cooked right through. The fries were also good, all came piping hot. My partners choice was chilli nachos, again well presented with generous amount of toppings, Jayne loved them. We noticed a sign advertising breakfast, we will definitely coming back to try this, but we we're told its advisable to book to avoid disappointment. Thank you to all the staff here.

Great, tasty and delicious food here, plenty of choices, even GF menu, which make it easier for me! The burger was so good! Also people with me had roast lamb that looks very good too I have never been to Upperhill before, it is lovely in a sunny day, walk around, park, canal,.. Also the main road is full of nice restaurants, shops or boutiques, great choice to stop by for lunch at Waggon Inn Definitely I will come back up here

Well last week I was at a Mitch star restaurant.. and was not that great just up the road from the pub why’s this not 5 Mitch stars this pub The food was amazing super hot and tasty.. Sunday lunch was delicious really was nice everything had its own taste 😝 Staff were super friendly and helpful.. I know it’s a little drive away but it’s really worth it. Thank you 😊

Great food and presentation served by friendly and helpful staff. This is a lovely recently refurbished pub in the centre of a busy village. The surrounding countryside is just stunning. Good selection of cask ales and beers. Highly recommended.

I took the wife here for a surprise meal whilst staying in Uppermill. We were blown away by the food and the service. We had made reservations, and were seated promptly. The table was very cramped due to other diners sitting nearby, and the manager moved us without being asked to a bigger table for our comfort. The service from ordering the food to delivery to table was impeccable, with very little waiting time for what was a busy Friday evening service. All the meals arrived with excellent presentation, and the quality and flavour of the food was outstanding. My wife ordered paté and seabass, and has said it is the best she ever had. I had chicken wings and cheese and onion pie, and was enormously impressed at both portion sizes and quality. I would definitely recommend eating here if you are in the area, or even looking for a special date night. The location is excellent, with more wine bars and pubs either side for those wishing to take a walk on a warm evening.

Great food, great service, not cheap but you get what you pay for. Parking in the village can be a pain though especially on the weekend.

Great place to eat in the heart of Uppermill. Nice venue with a good atmosphere. Went here once the weekend. Service from the staff was brilliant, they couldn’t do enough for us and even allowed us to move to a larger table after we had eaten to allow us to continue having a drink in there with friends. Food was very nice, I had the Truffle burger and the staff allowed me to make alterations and even had the decency to double check it was what I wanted. Can highly recommend this place. The food is more than your average pub food, still at a reasonable price.

I'm sorry to say but for the price of the meals it was not worth the wait I had leftover sundy dinner and my partner had cheese pie with three drinks between us 55 pounds not what I call you from money service will slow

I recently visited The Waggon with my mother and daughter, hoping to enjoy a nice lunch together. Unfortunately, the experience was far from enjoyable. My mother is recovering from a stroke and doesn't get out much, so this was supposed to be a special treat...

This is a great pub and restaurant in a good location. if your going for food call ahead and reserve a table as this pub gets busy. remember this is uppermill so it's a bit on the pricey side. They do a steak burger. burger with steak in with it .and to top it off a battered fried gherkin on top of the bun . The only thing was it's very greasy. I would like to have seen a couple of onion rings with it . The food is nothing special your typical pub food. are they trying to be to clever with it yes .a burger is a burger don't need steak. just make the burger more attractive and leave the steak out just to help pump up the price. Waggon inn as great interior decor and is a dog friendly . the staff are friendly and welcoming and will do all they can to accommodate you

Very well run with pleasant and attentive staff. Nice food. Very clean toilets but signposting could be clearer; "ladies" and "gentlemen" carved into wood at top of doors in dimly lit foyer makes identification challenging.

The good was really exceptional. I don't normally do mothers day out as too busy, poor menu and and poor service. Not here... Really good flavours, good value. Opened my eyes and will deffo be back. Need more like this place in the area.
