Great place to stay. Rooms very comfortable and they have thought of everything you will need. Highlight though is the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone in the hotel which definitely made the stay even more enjoyable. Pretty tired after a days walking or I would have loved to have spent more time in the bar where there was a great atmosphere. Thank you so much for everything and making my stay so pleasant and enjoyable.

"Muddy boots and paws welcome" said the sign , we were neither but instantly felt at home , made welcome by the owner, and her Daughter. Sat on the out side decking area my partner and i were taking in the feel of the place, on a lovley warm sunny easter day, being in a valley , trees surrounding the hotel, it quickly developed a pleasant cosy cutch ( cwtch)feeling. The beef roast was most enjoyable and i recommend. It can get busy , but we both never felt ignored by the ever helpful staff. This place certainly had the buzz factor, seemed very popular with locals and wanderers . The rooms were well presented clean ,a good size . Three big bath towels and two pairs of white temporary slippers ,which my partner G , found a nice touch. Later we thought we would investigate the hub bub coming from the bar, and again busy , but gettin to the bar became a joy as anyone near , would muster a path of assistance , and then a most lovley evening was had ,making new acquaintances , it felt like our new local . Thankyou the people of Diggle for a heart warming memorable stay.

We stayed at the Diggle Hotel while hiking the Pennine Way, and it truly was one of the highlights of our trip. The owners are some of the kindest and most genuine people we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Their warmth, hospitality, and care made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel itself is cozy, full of charm, and the perfect place to rest after a long day on the trail. We can’t recommend the Diggle Hotel highly enough — it’s not just a place to stay, it’s an experience we’ll always remember. Thank you for making our time there so special!

Wow, this is one of the most friendly places I have ever stayed, I was walking the Pennine Way and arrived at Standedge around 5pm, I was told by the owner to ring her at this point, She drove all the way up the hill to pick me up and drive me to her hotel. She showed me up to my room explained how everything worked, the room was amazing, clean , fresh, beautifully decorated, there was a coffee maker, small fridge, bottled water, apple and orange juice, snack bars, bottle of milk, and a variety of breakfast cereals and flavoured porridge. She explained to me they don’t do food on Monday evening but will cook for the guests that are staying there. I went down into the bar and was greeted by the lady that picked me up. Showed me to my seat and made a lovely open roaring fire. She gave me a good choice of food, it was all fresh home cooked, absolutely delicious food and a plentiful amount. The beer was spot on as well , and I’m very picky with my real ales, the young lad behind the bar was very pleasant and helpful. The whole team couldn’t do enough. I felt like I was a special guest. I was leaving early in the morning, 7.00am and she organised a taxi for me to take me to the point I was picked up the day previous. She also got up at 6.00am and made me a fresh packed lunch and put it outside my room for when I left. I didn’t really felt like I thanked them enough for all the help they gave me, with leaving so early. I don’t think I’ll be walking the Pennine Way again but will definitely return to the Diggle Hotel. All in all this place is amazing and the hospitality is 100% Thank you so much Ian She also

What a beautiful little pub, we made an impromptu visit today after a dog walk and couldn't be more pleased we did! The food was amazing, the staff were attentive, the atmosphere and environment was stunning. We're gutted we live an hour away as we would be regulars if we lived closer. Even the little attention to details of playing cards on each table, lots of games scattered around to keep you busy whilst waiting for the home cooked food with kids. We played jenga, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Honestly, it was great and the chips were amazing 👏 thank you, hopefully we'll be over for a walk again soon!!

Came to the hotel and requested a room for a single night, having paid 80 pounds for said single night I thought it was reasonable granted the cosy atmosphere of the downstairs lower bar and locale. However, the room was particularly unimpressive, the shower did not work, and I was unable to properly flush the toilet as my girlfriend was later horrified to discover. Aside from the poor state of the room for the price it is given, the service and bar downstairs was most enjoyable. A good alcoholic selection and friendly talkative staff. Would possibly come again however only for food or drinks.

We decided to go after reading the recent article in the Saddleworth Independent about the new ownership, restaurant quality food, value for money etc. All l can say it was very disappointing. When we walked in there was a man facing us putting up the menus on a board, he never even looked at us, no hello, no warm welcome, nothing. In fact it was the cleaner who first said can l help you. This was at 1.00pm on a Saturday lunch, there were only 4 other people in. The main issue was to come, the quality of the sandwiches - Hard crusted white sliced bread with warmed up beef slices out of a packet, at £5.95 for a supposedly hot beef sandwich. When we complained they knock £1.00 off each one because then had been mainly eaten (more because we were hungry than enjoyment). Sorry we won’t be going back.

We came to the Diggle Hotel after a tough second day on the Pennine Way. We were informed when we got to there that there was a new chef and it was only his second day, so we were not really sure what to expect. We ordered Cheese and Onion Pie and the Diggle Burger with Chicken Liver Pate to share - we were really hungry so asked for it all to be brought out at the same time, which they managed to do!

I have previously reviewed this establishment and gave it 5 stars. But unfortunately it has changed hands and to say it has gone downhill would be an understatement.

The Diggle hotel is a hidden gem which is an easy 40 minute walk along the canal from uppermill. It’s under new management so the menu was quite limited. We had Cod & chips which was piping hot. Hopefully next time we go in the menu will have expanded & be a little more adventureous.

Visited today with my children and had 2 lovely beef Sunday roasts while the children chose off the children's menu. There is a limited but lovely menu on offer with food locally sourced where possible. It was a welcoming atmosphere and staff were happy to help. Would highly reccomend to friends who are in search of good honest food.

Limited menu on bank holiday Monday. But saying that, good honest, food cooked well is what you get with friendly service and good portions. Beer is also good.

We booked a table in advance for 16 people for a special birthday meal. We had to wait an hour for the food and nearly all of the meals were sent back due to uncooked steaks, misleading descriptions of food and generally poor quality produce.

New people have moved in and the food is from Tesco freezer. It’s awful. Don’t bother . Gone down hill Fast. Where’s the landlord from before? Or the staff gone?

Booked a table in advance for Sunday lunch. We arrived on time and ordered immediately, There was no indication that there would be any delay. Over an hour later we gave up and left without our food,an apology, or any other explanation.

We went to the Diggle hotel after a busy weekend and seeing a review on Facebook, needless to say it was brilliant from walking in. We arrived a little early but were shown to our table and given the menu, having never ordered before we chose to have the starter and main course deal. The starters came out and were amazing, very generous portions and lots of options. Then we had the roast beef dinner and the amount of food was unbelievable, so much so we have taken it home to warm up for tea tomorrow! Outstanding service by the two waitresses! The young girl who served us was more than accommodating and very friendly. We can’t wait to go back with family!

Very good food with nice service. We were looking for something to eat after 9pm in Oldham and they were kind enough to facilitate us. If you're thinking about it, give it a try.

Our Great Local Pub. Food always excellent and I'm guilty of not posting enough reviews! Excellent service, fabulous staff. Mark and Daniel are doing an amazing job. Just had Chilli Prawns with egg fried rice, wow. The Salt and Pepper Calamari is the best I've ever tasted. Great menu.

Very disappointed there was no ham hock pasta on the menu, was unimpressed with what was on menu. Don’t know what was inside ravioli but it didn’t taste anything like lobster.

Visited the wagon on the 18th of May 25 about 3 30 it was very busy We took our little dog in as well The staff were really nice and the service was spot-on the meal was absolutely delicious and something I’ve never had before which I thought was delicious. I had the Sunday lunch and they brought the cauliflower and broccoli in a cheese sauce and they put a little bit of nutmeg on it and it was absolutely delicious. Thoroughly thoroughly recommended. Will definitely be going back.
