Lovely atmosphere. Staff were really friendly. Really comfortable. Was pleased to see a stock of female sanitary items in the loos. Nice touch. Didn't have food off the menu as my visit was following a funeral. The meat and potato pie was good. Coffee was good.

First time dining at the North Star and have to say the food was absolutely delicious. Couldn't fault the service either, I'll definitely be back.

We had a brilliant time today, brilliant meal, very friendly staff and not forgetting the landlord, who was a great host, even though we confused everyone by going on different menus. Not forgetting a really great pint too. EXCELLENT!!

Went for Sunday lunch .Place was a bit quiet but it was pouring with rain outside. Portion size was excellent especially the Sunday lunch meal

Excellent food nice portions and great service

Made a somewhat large party booking over the phone and because I’m a total idiot I did not think to mention we were bringing a dog, or that one of us was a wheelchair user. When we arrived we realised dogs weren’t allowed in the dining room but they quickly set up a table for all of us in a separate area of the pub so dog didn't have to wait in the car and there was more room for the wheelchair. Went above and beyond to accommodate us, really attentive, food was gorgeous. Some of us got the lunch menu and a few of us the main menu and the portions for all were really good, really good value. Dog treats and water for her. Really happy with the experience and can’t thank the staff enough.

Not great food, called on the off chance on Saturday afternoon for a bite to eat, having been to another local pub that was very busy.

Tried the new outside menu. Salt and pepper chicken sandwich was amazing on a big ciabatta roll. Really tasty. Mozzarella sticks with sweet chilli jam were a winner too. Faultless 5*

A disappointing visit. Whilst the food was generally okay and reasonably priced. Unfortunately one of our groups main meal consisted of some very chewy meat and cold chips. It was difficult to get any service at the table although the place was very quiet.

Only 4 of us dining in the pub and every meal was totally unappetising. Batter on fish soggy, peas not been heated up, and chips cheapest and not cooked properly. 4 prawns on salad small one at that. unbuttered baquette which was so hard it was impossible to bite through .The meals should never been allowed to come out of any kitchen . One to avoid

Worst meal i have ever been severed. I waited for over 40 minutes in an empty restaurant for the fish and chips to come black and dry. I did send it back and it came back fresher, but still not great. Everyone’s meal was poor and i would rather cook my own tea at home than waste my money on the food here!

Went in for a spot of lunch, had cheese and onion pie, chips and beans. Food was 10/10, very tasty, good portions, and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and polite, the pub was very clean and tidy, the service was excellent and food arrived in a timely manner. Couldn't fault it, thank you, North star, will certainly return..

Fabulous Roast Dinner The best local pub with the best food and staff.The food is always fantastic but the roast beef dinner and gammon roast dinner was amazing. Cooked to perfection served with all the trimmings, roast potatoes, mash, lovely veg and Yorkshire puddings. Mark is a great landlord and very welcoming. Kelsey, Lilly and the rest of the staff make sure everyone is looked after they are very professional. Gorgeous dessert too. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Boxing day meal. Ruined by the landlords attitude, offensive language in front of young children, who later told me they felt intimidated and scared by his raised voice and the way he spoke to a female member of the family group. Our food was lovely and served by a pleasant and conciensous young girl who made us feel really welcome and at ease. The problem started when complaints were made about meals which were reported to be inedible. I understand the pressures of running a public House, and catering for your customers needs, but this should be undertaken sensitively and amicably. Raising your voice in such a way as to totally disregard and intimidate a female isn't acceptable in my view. You took no consideration of what and how you said what you did and how this impacted on the group, especially the children. This is really disappointing to see from a grown man who could really do with some education in manners. The icing on the cake was your offensive language in front our children. Unforgivable. I certainly won't be ever returning and recommend the many other public houses in the area where your children feel safe and at ease. Some training might be advisable...

I have been to the North star several times before and it's always been amazing, so I booked again for my daughters 30th Birthday, yesterday 3.12.2023, expecting the same great experience. To say I was disappointed was an understatement! The service was ok to be fair and the starters were good but the main was was not as expected! The batter on the fish for one guest was pale in colour and soft, not crispy as it should be. The steak and ale pie crust was flat and not at all crispy as you would expect puff pastry to be. the vegetables were over cooked. chips ok but not fresh. My daughters chicken meal was dry, veg over cooked, pig in blanket - over cooked. We felt like we were being rushed towards the end so didn't stay for anything desserts. Sadly it's unlikely that I would book to go there again

My family visited here after hearing good things, we arrived in plenty of time before the lunch deal finished for the day, which would have made this affordable. Young chap took our order, and 3 of us had the lunch menu in front of us and pointed to items off it, indicating we wanted the deal. They even said shall we order desert now or later, further indicating our intention to have the lunch deal. Food came, 2 of the 3 guests were happy with the food and then ordered the dessert which was part of the lunch menu. All came correctly, and then we asked for the bill. We had been charged individually for everything we ate and the lunch menu deal hadn't been applied, so we were charged £20 extra for this mistake on their side. The waiter was a young lad, so we accepted that this must just be a mistake and asked a lady who appeared to be more senior. We explained the situation, mentioning that even though we didn't explicitly say 'lunch deal', we made it pretty obvious to the waitor. This more senior lady went and had a chat with the waitor and came back to us to say he thought the lunch menu was only Sunday, so she apologised to us and was lovely and genuinely apologetic. However, she then explained that basically because we had eaten the food (which she explained was a tiny bit of a bigger portion to the lunch menu meal) that we had to pay, and came over with the card machine. Therefore, she acknowledged that it was the young waitors fault but still charged us £20 more than it was. We didn't want to cause a fuss because the young waitor could see everything and we didn't want to dishearten him, but I expected more from the senior woman. Very very dissapointed.

Wouldn’t recommend, had garlic mushrooms for starters no flavour at all. Smash burger wasn’t a smash burger , upgraded fries with beef and cheese looked like something from a tin of pedigree chum. Wife had fried chicken goujons and cheese sandwich which tasted like chicken from Iceland. Would not return. Better places to eat out

Had a lovely meal at The north star, I was impressed with the portion size, deffo worth the slightly higher price tag then I would normally spend. Will definitely be going again , customer service was top notch and very welcoming atmosphere. Lilly and Kelsey really stood out

First visit with the new landlord and will definitely be going again. Eat from the 12 till 6 menu, 2 courses £13 or 3 courses £16. Although they are smaller sizes it was more than enough for all of us. Only slight disappointment was the Eton mess dessert which wasn’t great. Also now dog friendly which is a separate area and taking our dog in was not a problem. Definitely worth a visit.

Haven’t been here for a couple of years until this week when 6 of us came for the set menu. The food was excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Coming at a quieter time with only one other table in, we did expect the staff to be slightly more attentive. Having to leave the table to find someone to take our food order, to order more drinks, to get sauces, to get cutlery etc. diminished the experience slightly, however this definitely wouldn’t stop us from coming back again. Fair portions, good prices and excellent quality.

Since our last visit nearly a year ago, our experience has been much better! The staff were LOVELY and the atmosphere was so welcoming and warm. The food was delicious - we will definitely be returning!

As soon as I walked in I was punched in the face by the owner of the pub and dragged out by my ears and then swung arround at hyper speed then launched into orbit.

The only complaint is that the pub was cold

Popped in while staying locally and other places had stopped serving. Warm welcome from staff, lovely and clean, food fabulous, we all enjoyed. Waiting staff were great.

Sorry to say not a good experience for me! It has been quite a few years since I was last in this place, which was very good at that time. Not much choice for the Sunday menu. I had the roast beef dinner. The meat was good. The mash potato had mustard in which it did not state on the menu, the suede had too much pepper. The veg was all mixed together. I don't like garden peas and tried to separate them from the rest There was one and a bit pieces of broccoli and a couple of slithers of Savoy cabbage. There was a hair in my drink which I took back.I dont like giving negative reviews but I would not go back again. 😞

This pub has recentlygone under new management so any reviews more than a couple of months old apply to the previous management.

New owners are absolutely mint, well friendly and the new menu is brilliant even with good veggie options.

Lovely friendly pub. Staff are great. The food is excellent and a great price.

After a recommendation to come her following the re-opening I decided to give it a try, however I left feeling disappointed and £50 out of pocket. We ordered starters I had g.bread with cheese which was okay, don't suppose you can get this wrong though. My husband ordered the pork belly, although the meat was tender, the sauce that it was in was way too salty. It was a soy based sauce but I suspect there had been a load of salt added. Not at all pleasant. We then waited around 25 mins for our starters to be cleared, after finishing and then piling the plates up to draw attention to the fact we'd finished. Our mains arrived an hour after finishing our starters. My husband ordered the 'smash' burger, this was a double patty. Unfortunately there was no smash in sight, just 2 shrivelled burnt burgers on a bun - this got swiftly sent back. I had a dry s&p chicken burger, with burnt stir fry veggies on. All in all I was gutted.

First time here with new patrons and really disappointed Had to wait nearly an hour to get our first course of soup, ..bread was rock hard .. chicken skewers were way over cooked and hard all served on bakalite plates!!!

We had a lovely meal here very recently, and thought the food and service was excellent. The price of hubby's meal was over £16 for gammon eggs and chips, which we thought a tad expensive, I had the Sunday dinner priced at £11 but was charged £12. But what really spoiled it for us was when I asked for a bit more gravy for my lunch, and was charged an extra £1.50 ! I thought that quite naughty to charge extra. That is honestly the first time that has ever happened, and it is the reason we won't be back. Shame, it's a lovely pub and the staff was really helpful and efficient.

We called in the pub for a quick drink on Saturday afternoon after our walk .. told we would have to stand up because all tables where booked out for meals even though there where only about 5 people in the pub !! So if your thinking of goin to the pub for a drink then think again ... it should be called north star restaurant and the food is mediocre at best and very overpriced.. iv lived around the corner for years this is the worst management yet ! At least save some tables for people who just want a quick drink ! Do yourself a favour go to the spring Inn.. better priced better service just a better place allround

On arrival we were met by very friendly young staff who couldn’t have done more to help us. The food was amazing. Fantastic all round.

We were made to feel uncomfortable as soon as we walked into the pub. The 2 young bar staff looked at us both, one made a comment and then they both started laughing. As we went to the bar to say we had booked, it was clear they were laughing at us. One was trying not to laugh as he pointed to our table. Even as the other took our drinks order, it still appeared she was holding back laughing. This is unacceptable to make your customers feel uncomfortable the minute they enter your pub, we will definitely will not be returning and we will not be recommending The North Star to anyone again. Disappointing.

We held our daughters christening reception here. Gary, Tracey and the rest of the team were all fantastic. Food went down really well with everyone and they was more than helpful to any requests we had. A really good venue to hold any type of function.
