Dropped in on the off chance of getting a table for Sunday lunch. A very positive impression was given on our arrival, we received a friendly greeting, we were asked if we had a reservation - No, we were hoping you might have a table. “Table for two, certainly, just follow me” we were shown to our table that was clean and tidy even though it was ‘mid service’. A waitress appeared and took our order (we chose the carvery) and directed us to the carvery area, stating she would bring our drinks order to the table. We selected our choice of meat and then helped ourselves to veg etc and returned to our table, where our drinks were waiting. The meal was delicious. During the meal, a table nearby was vacated, once the customers had left the table was wiped down and the surrounding floor was swept clean of crumbs etc. my wife and I were really impressed with the smooth running of the restaurant, it appeared that nobody was left waiting for anything and all members of staff ‘mucked in’ to ensure the customers received a great service. Well done Toby Carvery!

If you are in Liverpool, do not eat here. My wife ordered the steak & ale pie with onion rings and I ordered the vegan chicken katsu curry. The steak & ale pie was completely inedible. The crust was so hard that my wife had to jab it repeatedly with her knife and when it finally broke, the contents were completely black and burnt to a crisp. There was no sign of any meat inside. She took it to the bar and the waitress asked if she would like a replacement. The replacement arrived after a few minutes (it must have been the right microwave setting this time) and whilst the pie crust was not as hard, there were barely three pieces of ‘steak’ inside and what was there was not at all appetising. My main was OK, but the onion rings were swimming in grease.

The staff were rude, the drinks are expensive, the toilets had no loo role and there was White powder on the side, the vent above was full of dust, we were put in the so called VIP section a tiny room the back of the seating area fell off and the music was way too loud, would never return there are many great bars in Liverpool this is not one

Just wanted to leave 2 big mentions for young Mollie in book shop cafe on Monday, I was there with over 10 people plus big dogs . The service we received to table including navigating the dogs and making sure we all got our right drinks delivered right to table despite being very busy was exceptional, as a regular cafe visitor it’s a delightful way to start the day . Following on I visited today with only 8 friends and were served by equally lovely Jessica, her nature and attitude is very much appreciated and nothing is too much trouble. Keep up the exceptional standards that we have come to appreciate more and more , also dogs are always given same level of love and consideration by all readers staff Mr n wady Liverpool

You in need of a jumbo scone then head here. Simply super with jam in a mini jar. The only downer at the moment is that they only serve tea and coffee in take away cups which is super environmentally unfriendly. Bring back the loose leaf glass pots and proper cups. Because its less waste and just as safe You need to get back to normal.

An absolute “gem” of a cafe. Lovely friendly staff who “nothing is too much trouble”. Two lovely freshly made paninis and two great hot coffees. Great value for money!

Firstly I’d like to say that the reviewer who posted last with an awful review, I was sat on number 2 near your table with my partner and baby and heard your witch hunt! You were rude to the bar man by clicking your fingers at him etc. We ordered our meals about the same time, I had steak the same as you, my partner SFC and both were delicious we left nothing on our plates. The pub wasn’t cold I’d even taken my coat off and the bar man was in a black short sleeved shirt! We eat at the Pear Tree often and everything is as it should be.

I’ve heard so much about this place and finally took the plunge today. Staff were very attentive and could not do enough for us. Food is out of this world but a special mention for the pea dough bread… absolutely delicious!

We have been three times to Gregg’s for lunch before boarding a flight, it’s very nice but I think a couple of teething problems. Greggs are well known for their sausage rolls amongst many other items, but each time we have been there they are only JUST WARM a let down needs sorting, as well as no salt & pepper as the baguettes are a bit bland, that’s my rant over otherwise they are a much needed eating area for land side and the staff are a credit to the business.
