The Pear Tree Inn in Liverpool

Firstly I’d like to say that the reviewer who posted last with an awful review, I was sat on number 2 near your table with my partner and baby and heard your witch hunt! You were rude to the bar man by clicking your fingers at him etc. We ordered our meals about the same time, I had steak the same as you, my partner SFC and both were delicious we left nothing on our plates. The pub wasn’t cold I’d even taken my coat off and the bar man was in a black short sleeved shirt! We eat at the Pear Tree often and everything is as it should be.

Freezing cold pub , waited 35 minutes for rump steak ,ordered "medium cooked" which was lukewarm when it arrived with a slight raw area, some medium and some well done areas , "Gourmet" (obviously oven chips) which were hot on arrival , half of a warmed tomato , loads of peas, 3 warm onion rings and the worst ( obviously packet peppercorn sauce ) that I have ever tasted which was sweet and inedible. I will not be dining here again.

We visited the pear tree over the festive period and although it was busy the staff were great and friendly especially a lady called Vicky she really looked after us. The food was nice typical for a pub and the atmosphere was lovely. The traditional Xmas decs are beautiful. A nice touch!

We have been going the pear tree for over 12 months now. Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. My children have additional needs and they struggle socialising, however the pear tree has a lovely calm atmosphere. They serve a lovely cold pint always in the right glass!! We are gutted it’s been closed due to covid. Can’t wait to get back. Thanks Gaynor and staff.

I’ve drove past this lovely little pub a few times and decided to take the wife. The outside is really nice and has a lovely little beer garden. However, the food is substandard to say the least. Also the Landlady should maybe consider a new profession where she doesn’t have to engage with the general public. If I said she was rude it would be an understatement!! I wouldn’t recommend this place and we certainly won’t be going back.

Very poor visit. The service was poor. The landlady was rude. The menu is very limited and they got our order wrong.

Not the best of places to eat, when we arrived we had to wait for a waitress to speak to us and explain how things worked that was ok. We sat inside for a while but two women were screaming quite loud so we came outside to escape being deafened. We ordered our food one Hunters Chicken and a BLT with drinks. Initially we were sitting inside but the staff had forgot about us. When the food arrived my wife’s chip did not arrive so I had to go into the pub to ask about them. No we would only come again as a last resort.

Not impressed from the minute I turned up. Asked the guy if the could move an umbrella outside to the pub courtyard. He asked someone else who asked someone else. No was the answer. Ok, fine went outside with our party of three. Ordered three drinks first two arrived after a prompt about 20 mins later. Once again fine. However the third drink took over an hour and was asked for three times. (Coke Cola) Then our server went home. I appreciate he’d been on the job three days but. The other server who inquiries I got the feeling couldn’t have cared less. The two of my parties ordered two deserts and the wrong ones came out. They just ate them. The pub wasn’t even busy. A third full if that. I won’t be returning! You n dc to communicate if the ordered have been delayed instead of ignoring your patrons.

I first visited the Pear Tree Pub pre Covid with friends. We all tried the food which wasn’t edible to say the least (both starters and mains!) I definitely wouldn’t recommend dining there. We thought we’d give the pub a second chance last week. However, the Landlady was extremely rude and bad mannered. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. Suffice to say we didn’t even stay for one drink. We ended up getting a taxi to the Sandpiper where we were welcomed by friendly and professional staff. Altogether the food and service was excellent, and worth a visit.

The Pear Tree Pub is a nice pub on the outskirts of Kirkby that I occasionally drop into. This pub looks superb ,the interior is light and airy, nice furnishings and decorated tastefully throughout ,there's a solid wood serving bar ,tv's to enjoy the sports and plenty of seating options available throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the perpetually busy Prescot Road,its a nice pub to chill out in . My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Friday early afternoon ( pre coronavirus lockdown ) , pub was really starting to get busy with a great vibe ,greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff ,we ordered a guinness each ,these pints were poured in the correct manner even allowing the right time for the all important settle ,we just chilled out and took in the great atmosphere in this busy and popular pub. My Guinness was really good, a rich,thick and most importantly iced cold guinness bursting with taste,very easy to drink,a delicious brew indeed. On this visit I cannot really comment on the meals served,only here for drinks,but I have ate here on several previous visits over the years and the meals are just superb ,proper pub grub. We both really enjoyed our guinness in here and the great vibe so much so that we ended up staying for another each before we moved on and as on every other visit to The Pear Tree Pub we had a marvellous time. The Pear Tree Pub is easy to find along Prescot Road. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 11am till 11pm. A fabulous pub,if your in the area most definitely well worth checking out.

We rang up tonight before we went in because we knew everywhere was busy and we were told no it’s fine just come in, the barman was probably the rudest person you could of ever come across he clearly did not want the order so I have no idea why he didn’t just say we are too busy! he said it will be a while and we were fine with that! After paying for our food we had sat down for a while and then the fella who took our order sent a really nice young waiter over to say we haven’t got any nachos we said that’s ok can we have our money back then! Absolute disgraceful service! Rudest man ever

On there Web site shows food from 12 noon today my wife and self showed up at 4.30pm went bar to order food now the joke the bar man stated chef don't come in till 5pm to 5.15pm so said then you'll have to wait ended up walking out thay should state this on there Web site or update it at least.

The Peartree is lovely pub very clean,staff very friendly,food was gorgeous will be going back again soon 🙂.

I have been twice in the last couple of weeks with family & friends, on both occassions the food was fantastic & the service was great. Amazed it was empty both times, the secret must get out soon!! SG

Booked a table for 2 for our anniversary, they sat us at their most perfect and quiet table in the corner perfect for some privacy on our special night. We shared 2 pizzas and a side on their amazing deal which was perfect! The pollo was to die for and the Honolulu was so different to any Hawaiian I had had before. Thankyou for making my night even more special!

Called whilst working in the area and was made very welcome, very nice clean pub/restaurant, staff very friendly, food excellent, allowed me to stay on the car park overnight in my campervan so an added bonus as well, would definitely return if in the area again

Mi otra mitad y yo hemos estado aquí varias veces desde que me mudé cerca, pero desde que me he quedado embarazada, realmente no me han gustado los alimentos y he luchado por comer una comida completa. . .Bueno, ayer, por primera vez en 37 semanas, demolí toda una comida aquí, tomé la lasaña y fue simplemente increíble, ¡tan fresco y sabroso! ¡Estaba literalmente raspando el queso cocido del lado del tazón! Y ahora estoy sentado sin saber qué tomar para el brunch porque realmente todo lo que quiero es esa lasaña de nuevo. . . Mi otra mitad obtuvo lo que normalmente obtendría, pero no me ha gustado mucho el pastel de carne y las papas fritas recientemente, y el suyo también fue increíble. . . Incluso tuvimos un desierto que es realmente diferente a nosotros!Pero en general, cuando hemos visitado, el servicio siempre ha sido perfecto y el personal es muy amable y servicial, ya sea que venga con o sin niños, ¡definitivamente lo recomendaría!En otra revisión, se afirma que no siempre tienen la selección completa de comidas. . . Lo hemos experimentado nosotros mismos, pero normalmente eso se debe a que los especiales son nuevos o están tan ocupados, ¡así que vaya temprano para evitar decepciones!

Fue en anticipación del domingo asado, no me quedaba nada. La segunda opción fue la envoltura de Yorkshire, no quedaba ninguna. La tercera opción fue el linguini y el estofado, no hubo estofado, así que optamos por el pescado y las papas fritas y el linguini. Ok, una vez que nos sentamos con nuestras bebidas, un miembro del personal se acercó y me dijeron que no había pollo para el linguini, por lo que se descartó aproximadamente la mitad del menú. Cuando se les preguntó qué tenían y se les dijo una selección de unas tres hamburguesas, ordenaron la hamburguesa de falafel con una orden original de pescado y papas fritas. No se pudo hablar durante la espera debido a que los niños correteaban y gritaban, con los padres esencialmente siguiendo su ejemplo. Cuando llegó la comida el pescado y las patatas fritas estaba, bueno. . . llano de pescado y papas fritas. Ni siquiera vino con salsa. Cuando pedí salsa me dieron lo que solo se puede describir como una cucharada en una olla de aspecto lamentable, apenas suficiente para usar en unas cuantas fichas. La hamburguesa de falafel parecía que solo se había descongelado, pero en realidad no se había cocinado, y venía con una salsa extraña que olía y sabía que se había sentado en un estante durante meses. Completa el desperdicio de dinero y definitivamente no volveremos.

Had tea in this lovely quiet pub,with friends from work during the week after work. Specials menu good value for money,we have been here a few times now.Only Negative thing was three of us had to have a substitute food they had run out, this wasn’t the first time this has happened,but it wasn’t a problem as we still enjoyed our food.Maybe because it was during the week . Staff friendly and helpful.Would go back again .

Recently visited with some friends for lunch and the food and venue was so nice I decided to return the following week for their valentine's kiddies party. My little girl really enjoyed herself, she's really shy and the staff made her feel so happy, such lovely friendly people. We then sat down for a family meal which made us all even more happy, yummy food in such a lovely cute, extremely clean pub :) will definitely be visiting more often

Entré con los padres para almorzar y me sorprendió gratamente. Encantador y luminoso interior espacioso, impecablemente limpio, comida a precios razonables y excelente servicio. Esperó 10 minutos máximo para la comida muy caliente. . . Recibimos un servicio fantástico del personal amable y atento. El menú es muy extenso y todo lo que elegimos fue encantador. Todo estaba caliente, fresco y muy bien presentado.

Had lasagne which was tasty but burnt on the top cheese rock hard! Food usually nice waiter sim erely apologised then the waitress explained the oven is set at a certain temperature? Made no sense

Decidimos ir a The Pear Tree para una cena familiar de cumpleaños. Había solo una familia aparte de nosotros y ya estaban comiendo.

Came back from theatre on route home and popped in for tea at this pleasant rural pub with my wife.Really nice interior and everything set out nice.After being seated, lady serving came up and said she would take our order promptly as there was a table of 14 just came in , so that was appreciated. Food came promptly, I had scampi and chips, my wife choosing macaroni cheese with salad.

Visited this pub on 25th July staff were miserable barman didn't seem to listen got drinks order wrong ordered food after over 1 hour chased where our food was,was told 5 more minutes then 1 meal arrived waited another 1/2 hour but other 2 meals hadn't arrived & no apology made walked out of pub as my husband & daughter were hungry & very angry would not 're visit ever again or recommend to anyone else

Recently visited with my daughter and her partner, immediately greeted as we walked in, place is spotless and food freshly cooked. Had a mixed grill which was really good value for money. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, will be back soon.

We visit weekly/at times daily and it Could be great if the bar tender mike at least raised a smile, he makes you feel like you shouldn't be there, no customer service at all!!!

Visité el Pear Tree a la hora del almuerzo hoy como parte de un grupo de 9 ramblers. Bien, nosotros no habíamos reservado, pero la cocina parecía tener dificultades con nuestros pedidos. Me parecía ser la cena más mala suerte. Mis dos primeras opciones estaban fuera del menú, ya que en la actualidad se está cambiado. He pedido mi 3ª opción pero el topping que quería no estaba disponible, así que elegí una alternativa. La ensalada de casa tenía 3 de los componentes enumerados y no faltaba un vestidor. Que señalamos y la situación fue provisto. Sin embargo, me pregunto qué hubiera pasado si yo no hubiera dicho nada? Seguramente no es bueno para servir comidas estándar y espero el cliente sub no aviso?

New to the area so no idea about this place but thought we’d give it a go. We were there at 12.15 with no other customers but met by a lovely man who was very helpful and polite and made us feel very welcome.

Nice place to have a meal staff alway nice and friendly and will not break the bank have been here a few times in the past couple of months food and service always very good

Estábamos más o menos culpar por la falta de personal!

Qué agradable sorpresa nos dieron cuando fuimos. Bonito, limpio brillante y ordenado, preciosa nueva la sensación de que ha sido necesario para un largo tiempo. El menú tiene algo para todo el mundo y un menú infantil. La única cosa que no estábamos seguros de si alguien iba a venir y tomar nuestro pedido o tenemos que ir al bar, no dice así en el menú. Fui al bar y conocimos a Heather que era muy servicial, tomó nuestra orden y era muy servicial. Mi padre tiene demencia y no una buena con la comida, así que normalmente tiene tiras de pollo para su comida, que es un entrante, así que pedimos para que éste sea entregado con todas nuestras comidas. No hay problema, nos hizo sentir cómodos. Gracias Heather.

Found the place by chance and dropped in for their lunch deal. Smart, clean and comfortable with excellent friendly service and a great value lunch of traditional pub food, cooked well and served with a smile. Didn't want for anything!

Ha sido dos veces desde reformas pub personal comida decoración estupenda, amable unos cuantos problemas, pero sobre todo experiencia teathing excelente. . . Ir otra vez mañana.

Went last Friday . Got to say I was not impressed. Mostly young staff who although they where very conscientious had no experience . Young girl behind the bar didnt even know how to pour a pint of shandy . (I should of known better and give up at that point). We then ordered food after they finally had something available to order on the 5th attempt of trying. (DEFO SHOULD OF GIVE UP AFTER THAT). Then the food arrived mine was ok the burger was lovely. My husband had a fillet steak which he tried to cut with a normal knife as no steak knife was provided(hmmmm not getting any better)in his own words " I dont know what animal that steak was from but it wasn't a cow" full of fat and grissel and impossible to cut with a butter knife. The waiting on staff where so eager they cleared away his sauce before he had finished with it and then cleared rest of plates before I had finished eating. All in all not a pleasant experience and will not be returning. I know new places can sometimes have teething problems but this was a joke.

Visited 30/5/17 with a party of 8. Recently been refurbished so decided to try. Only opened 2 days before so was a few teething problems with the New staff but that will come with practice I suppose. Very modern very clean. Little outdoor play area for toddlers. Benches and seating outside Plenty parking spacesWe all got Sunday roasts which was very average. Wouldn't return there for the roast dinner but would return to taste other things off the menu. There was a very wide and good selection of food. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Together with my wife and a friend we visited this Inn one evening of this week entering via a smoke tunnel by the door which should have perhaps warned us a little of what was to come. Credit where it is due we were served promptly by a pleasant barmaid who, when I enquired about food, said " we do food but tonight the fishcakes and burgers are off: the menus are on the tables ". I turned around and noticed that neither my wife nor our mutual friend had taken a seat. As I walked towards them I gradually began to smell a distinctive odour of mustiness/body odour. The seats themselves were heavily stained with goodness knows what and the wall-paper had been patterned at one time. People stared at us three as if we came from another planet and in reality it seems like we evidently did!! I am guessing that this place is frequented by guys who want to have a drink before they go home to their partners or whoever. Suffice to say we drank up as soon as possible and left. The only two reasons I have not given this place a " terrible " rating are that the barmaid was pleasant and we didn't actually eat here although we genuinely had intended to in the first instance.
