I dont usually leave bad reviews however the food here is just not the one, walked in and there was 0 atmosphere, asked for a medium rare stake which wasnt the largest so was expecting what was the to be tasty, it was cooked so rare and the chips was flaking away. Also the pepercorn source has got to be the worse i have had very watered down. Fish and chips was also ordered and its safe to say it wasnt great. I hate leaving bad reviews however this place was just not what it should be for the price and would hate other customer to expect it to be more than what it is

The food was delicious and perfectly cooked, we had the chicken, and the chorizo&shrimp pasta, the Parmesan cheese over the pasta was the icing in the cake!! The desserts were amazing too! We were looking for a place that weren’t fully booked and we found it, not busy at all. If they had a rebrand or more money invested in marketing/advertisement, it would become a gem in the area.

Very confusing site and phoning was impossible as it sent you in a loop. Had to get someone else to send me a link in order to book for afternoon tea. On entering ,the restaurant was empty but we were hidden in a corner for some reason. Maybe there was a reason due to bookings but it was empty until we left. I wouldn’t have left a review or complained about any of this but one member of staff made my mum cry. When asking for drinks his attitude wasn’t good and he rolled his eyes and made her feel like she was a problem. It’s just afternoon tea. feels like more work needs to be done to make this a competitive restaurant in terms of service. This is a real shame as I have noticed it decline since our last few visits. Particularly the first visit we had was so enjoyable and friendly. Don't know what has happened. And I understand working in retail or catering I have done it myself. But it was not busy enough to be given this type of service and be acceptable. Food was fine, nothing to complain about there. And restaurant does look lovely.

Called in with friends for an evening dinner, ran out of roast potatoes so served normal potatoes in skins, service was beyond slow and had the cheek to add a service charge which we certainly didn’t pay. The waitress is in the wrong job as manners and customer service is not her fortes. The card machine wasn’t working so ended up being taken into the bar to pay with no apology. I would recommend you avoid this place as doesn’t deserve the custom.

We booked a night in A hard days night hotel and decided to take up the offer of Blakes 2 courses for£16.95 with twenty percent off as we were staying at the hotel. As it was sunday it was only roast dinners on offer I had the Gammon my partner had the Chicken the food arrived pretty quickly and was ever so tasty and well presented but like many modern dinners the presentation leaves you with not that much food.We then had the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream which was lovely also the service was second to none.Like most restaurants a service charge is put on your bill.

Breakfast was a fight for a table after 40 minutes of waiting. No drinks juice empty coffee machine broke they gave up a pot of tea and after asking 3 times and 20 minutes later they gave us cups to drink the tea. We had to eat breakfast but little choice as the food trays were empty with the half eaten food and dishes from the previous guest sitting still on the table. Yes £60 for four of us never again. The kids awaited pancakes as advertised we could not get toast or a drink so pancakes was just a dream

Would not use this 'restaurant' again. It's really a café with restaurant prices and pub choices. No atmosphere, no music, bright lights, no wine list, tomato sauce bottles on the table, tables not cleared, tissues on the floor (even when one of them suck to a waitresses heel she just picked it off and left it on the floor) I asked the waitress what was in the Thai vegan curry....the answer "Chicken" so the staff don't know the menu - that's just basic training. Why we didn't leave at this point I don't know. The kitchen is open so you see them add the plastic packs into the saucepans. This is attached to a 4 star hotel, why is the stand of the restaurant so low? Could not understand it. Was so disappointed, so many lovely places to eat in Liverpool - this is not one of them.

Only two in restaurant which is like a canteen. Pub menu, not at all fine dining or even quirky. The bar ran out of the rosé I ordered, our food order was incorrect so we didn’t get charged for one main, they were laying for breakfast as we were eating dinner. Come on, fabulous location in a fabulous city. Get yourselves together.

There was no clear indication as to how to get to the restaurant but we found it eventually. Mostly the staff were okay just a bit clueless and not very professional. One woman that served us was amazing and we connected well with her. There was someone that was higher up that seemed more professional but only appeared once to keep the staff in line, when she wasn't there they just stood around chatting. There was a table that had been eaten at and not cleared from when we got there to when we left. The atmosphere was completely lacking and it felt like a canteen in a work place. No steak knife with steak, side didn't turn up until asked for, no range of wines. Red or white was mentioned then only one white due to a wedding that day or day prior. I completely understand stock levels can be affected post wedding but it wasn't explained to us on arrival, given no drinks menu, no apologies for the lack of stock. Its just wasn't a great experience. Seems like a good hotel to stay at and a good place for a spot of brekki after your stay but as an evening restaurant with the competition around it need to up its game big time. Food was nice but maybe a touch pricey for what it was. £25 for an 8oz steak with shop bought frozen onion rings and ship bought slaw takes the biscuit a bit.

I booked for afternoon tea this afternoon with my family to celebrate my 50th birthday. The restaurant was evidently understaffed from the minute I arrived despite only a few tables being occupied. Only part of the party first arrived and we ordered some soft drinks first, there was no drinks or cocktail menu available. The rest of the party arrived but still no drinks or anyone to take their order. The Diet Coke when it finally arrived was near enough flat! Not a great start! The afternoon tea arrived 2 stands first and the other 2 about 10mins later. At which point we tried to order tea and coffee. 2 pots of tea arrived fairly quickly and the waitress said she would bring the coffee now. No milk, sugar or spoons were available and we had to go to the bar after another 5 minutes to ask for those as well as the coffee that was already supposed to be coming. The afternoon tea was pleasant enough although a little basic, I was expecting something a bit more ‘fancy’ given the hotel we were in but the restaurant and the waiting staff were lovely when they were actually there. Once we had finished eating nobody tried to ask if we had finished, wanted any more drinks or anything and I believe we could have left without any one even noticing! We had to approach the bar again to ask for the bill as well as a box to take the uneaten cakes with us. The bill arrived promptly but with no boxes available we were offered some tinfoil instead which we accepted and then had to ask for again after going back to the bar to pay! For a day that should have been a happy occasion left me feeling annoyed and frustrated. The bill was nearly £200 which I feel should have come with much better service, or at the very least a spoon to stir my tea instead of having to resort to using a fork! I would go anywhere else rather than return here!

Do not go here for afternoon tea! Nothing was good about the experience! Extortionately priced for onion tasting sandwiches, synthetic cream cakes and scones, oh yes, and no tea or coffee served! No other people in the restaurant, speaks volumes. Highly unrecommended! This place certainly did not "please please me" the poor waitress Abigail was the only person there and was being dragged to other bars "here, there and everywhere" she was the only positive thing about the whole visit!

I was absolutely disgusted by the service we receieved at our afternoon tea. I made a note upon booking that we were visiting for a special birthday, when we arrived we were looked at by staff for 10 minutes before anybody even bothered to come over to seat us. There was no acknowledgment for the special occasion as I’d requested and we were completely ignored. The place had 0 atmosphere and there was not any music playing (for a Beatles themed restaurant you would think they would at least have music) It then took around 15 minutes before we were offered tea/coffee. It then took a while to bring over two cups of black tea and a cup of black coffee. We assumed the milk and sugar would follow as we were not asked but it was made clear they were going to leave us with black teas/coffee! My partner had to go over to where they were all standing around to ask for milk and sugar, and a teapot of tea for us all due to the service being absolutely shocking. When the afternoon tea eventually arrived it was not bad, just bogstandard nothing special but still we can’t fault the food. The service we receieved was worse than awful, we also witnessed the staff standing around doing nothing and the chef rang the bell numerous times and due to the fact people’s food was sitting there ready to be brought out, the chef ended up bringing it out himself! The chef then also asked us if we were enjoying the afternoon tea (again something the servers should have done) Matters were made worse (we didn’t think it could get any worse) when we were brought the bill over (after asking twice) and we receieved a HANDWRITTEN bill, no proper receipt as apparently the internet was down. We were charged more than what the prices stated online but at this point the experience completely ruined my nans 70th birthday afternoon tea and we were so fed up I just paid and left. I was disgusted by the service we receieved and I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone again.

When the waiter came over to us we ordered the Afternoon Tea. When he brought my coffee he slopped it on the table but did not wipe it up. The place looked quite grubby and tired, some of the male staff had very long hair down there backs. We both decided we would not come here again.

Sadly not a good review and we never managed to eat in the restaurant which is a shame as we have been there a few years ago and have a lovely meal. This time we booked in person on Wed afternoon for Thurs evening. We were assured the booking was made and went away looking forward to the food and Beatles memorabilia. When we arrived for our evening meal, there was no record of our booking. The resultant was empty, although a party was due to arrive later. The senior waitress was very rude and virtually accused us of lying!! Disgraceful behaviour and we certainly won’t be returning or recommending the restaurant to friends due to visit in the coming months. If you do book in person, we would strongly suggest get written evidence to avoid disappointment.

Myself and my friend had booked an afternoon tea at the Hard Days Night Hotel and we were really looking forward to it. My friend had been previously with her mum and she said she had the most amazing scones and lots of different cakes and choices for their afternoon tea. When we got there, we were seated and was told they don’t serve decaf tea. This is crazy for a hotel in Liverpool. I just got back from Tenerife and they had decaf tea there! So instead with my afternoon tea I had no choice but to have apple or orange juice or decaf coffee. The afternoon tea came out and online it is priced at £15 per person. On the menu it said £20 per person. My friend looked at what was served and immediately wasn’t happy. The scones were not at all the home baked ones she had in March they were shop bought with the cream and jam already on the scones. There was less cakes and sandwiches. The price had gone up since March for less food. My friend spoke to the waiting staff to explain why she wasn’t happy. The manager came out and was very snooty with how she spoke to us. Her words were ‘please enlighten me’ I started saying about how my friend had fresh scones with fresh cream and strawberries and the manager interrupted me and said ‘so it’s the presentation’ I said no, it’s the fact that the scones are very different to the ones we have been given today as they were home made with fresh cream and we haven’t been given that. The manager did apologise gave us a takeaway bag with cakes and chocolates in which was nice and gave us 20% off the bill but still put a £5 service charge on… we won’t be returning and we left feeling very awkward and just thinking that we had an awful experience. I’ve attached a photo of the afternoon tea my friend had in March that cost £15 per person (1st one) and then the photo of our one last week priced at £20 per person (2nd one), you can clearly see the difference!

Oh my goodness me where do I begin? I would strongly recommend that you do not book in this resteraunt-10 would be my rating. Total shambles booked afternoon Tea for a joint 60th and 70th well that was a mistake. Called numerous times advertised on internet £14.95 on phone was informed £29.95 however we wanted the experience, I now know the is no experience. Went in on the day we arrived to ensure all would be ok, as we were told that afternoon tea did not include sandwiches, which I thought was very unusual. It was chaos no one in the restaurant could not find a menu, however, I was assured by barman that it did include sandwiches. Hindsight is a wonderful thing as I should have listened to my instincts. On the board outside the hotel it advertised as £19.95 Including fizz, tea optional, yet again another price and wording incorrect. We turn up on the Sunday afternoon, the were 2 people eating afternoon Tea, I dis speak with these people who also advised it was inedible and not to stay. No atmosphere to be greeted by a very unkempt waitress, who got a tatty piece of folded up paper from her pocket to confirm our booking( Usual a reservation book) We were advised to sit any where with cups (All dirty with lipstick and water in).Imagine my distain when 2 afternoon Tea were plonked in front of us, without asking dietary requirements, allergies ( I thought this was a legal requirement) The sandwiches looked disgusting and stale. Scones were a budget scone maybe brought from a supermarket? Well yes you have guest I asked to speak to a manager who was just as unkempt as the waitress, who apologised and said He would give us the Tea for £14.95, Well if it had been free I would not have touched the food. He made excuse. All he kept on saying is I have a new manager starting tomorrow and Jo will sort this out. I pointed out the advertising was incorrect it took him a good 5 minutes to concede it was. I politely pointed out that he had ruined a 60th & 70th birthday celebration was to wish them both a happy birthday! Words fail me.

Don't go here for the afternoon tea. I called to book to confirm the menu and price. On visiting, we were given a different menu that we didn't like, for a more expensive price. They asked if we were happy with that, we said no and were prepared to leave, but they made some arrangements for things to go through as we expected. While grateful for this, it was just an awkward start. We were the only guests in the dining hall. Each person got 4 very thin finger sandwiches with margarine (not real butter), that had little filling. The cakes did not feel fresh - no fresh cream, very dense and sweet buttercream, so overall very heavy on the sweet side and synthetic tasting. Best thing was the scone with clotted cream and jam. Waitress asked us if we wanted tea, and brought us early gray instead of English breakfast. Asked us if we wanted milk, we said no, then brought a jug anyway (awkward again, and a waste). After being told the menu we originally wanted was not available and one item would be adjusted instead, another lady brought us a printed menu with the original menu - so suddenly it's available? Just confusing, and they didn't clarify this. And to top it off, they included a nice service charge on the bill. No idea what for. Left feeling quite ill from all the sugar and margarine.

Ate here on a Sunday evening as part of a dinner, bed and breakfast package at the Hard Days Night Hotel. Expecting a great atmosphere in a Beatles themed restaurant, in Liverpool during Eurovision week, we could not have been more wrong. For the duration of our meal we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. No atmosphere at all, no Beatles music played, someone even popped in to turn the music down at one point. No memorabilia on the walls or anything, just a few pictures dotted about. Decor was fine but no different from hundreds of vanilla restaurants, they are really missing a trick here. The lack of a genuine Beatles experience was a real let down. The food was delicious, well presented and in decent sized portions. Service was generally good as you would expect but there was an awkwardness around the bill when our gift voucher wasn't taken into account and the waitress didn't know what to do, surely not a difficult thing to get right, especially when you only have 2 customers and reception had booked the table for us at check in. High expectations which were nowhere near met, there are many great restaurants I would return to in Liverpool, this is sadly not one of them.

Service let this place down. They need more trained staff. They need to have staff available and not running from the restaurant to the hotel. Food was nice. But expect a Fawlty towers experience.

Waiter was excellent. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was a bit of disaster. This was supposed to be a special birthday meal and unfortunately it's put a bit of downer on the evening. For start the Gluten Free options were extremely limited, which in this day in age, is extremely poor. Food took ages to arrive, yet there were hardly any customers. My Stepfather's meal would have left a child hungry. We had to send the desserts back, as they were stone cold. A real shame, as obviously the surroundings are really nice and the waiter was attentive. Ultimately, I wouldn't book there again.

We had booked afternoon tea to celebrate a friends special birthday. We have been on a number of occasions before lockdown. We were served Mr Kipling cakes and scones which were burnt underneath. I Could have bought the whole lot cheaper in the shops for a lot less than we were charged. My friend who had booked the table felt so awful about the price. Emailed the hotel who passed it on to the restaurant manager and still haven’t received a reply!

Went for special 18th birthday Afternoon Tea celebration. We were put in the corner next to the kitchen door, even though we were the only customers in this dark, dingy, dated restaurant. The sandwiches were 4 skinny fingers of bread, no wider than 1cm wide. The rest was all sweet cakes and scones. We had to keep calling the staff over for silly things like no sugar, an empty milk jug was served - no milk in! The staff were all behind the bar doing very little, but weren't attentative with us, their only customer. We asked if we could have another sandwich to which we were told "you only get what is on the menu". I have never been so disappointed with an Afternoon Tea, having experienced many different places and areas. Please don't waste your money and choose elsewhere. Very disappointed.

I picked this hotel for afternoon tea based on a Time Out review who called it one of the best in Liverpool and pictures on tripadvisor. Things have certainly changed since those reviews were written. This afternoon tea was awful and not worth the money. We were seated in the freezing cold reception area and served a cake stand with a couple of curled up sandwiches and some Mr Kipling cakes - not kidding they were definitely Mr Kipling. I could have gone to Morrison’s and put this tea together myself for a third of the price. I appreciate we are coming out of lockdown and the staffing at the hotel may be limited but don’t offer a service if you can’t follow through

I booked afternoon tea to celebrate a friend’s birthday after 2 previous very enjoyable experiences. Unfortunately one member of the group was unable to come with us so I tried to contact the hotel the day before. I made approximately 15 phone calls and was unable to speak to anyone. I left 2 messages but nobody contacted me. This did ring alarm bells but nothing could have prepared me for the extremely disappointing afternoon tea. The sandwiches were fine but the scones were dry and burnt and the cakes were obviously out of packets. They looked like ‘Mr Kipling’ apple pies, bake well tarts and Viennese whirls- all beige and unappetising. We were going to express our disappointment to reception but there were a lot of people checking in.I have emailed the hotel but have had no response. An awful experience.

Rubbish. Put us in the lobby of hard days night, had to ask to be moved to the restaurant. Veggie was given thin, soggy, floppy cucumber sandwiches, no choices or options. All on the same stand as the beef, ham and salmon sandwiches, which weren't much better. Strawberries put on the stand with the cakes (not homemade) were off, asked to change them and they just took them off and said that the chef thought he could 'get away with them'. Brough over a plate of chunky tomato and cheese sandwiches after we complained about lack of veggie choice. Chef obvs did give a hoot. Had the nerve to add on a 10%service charge after we've complained about 2 diff things. Dont think so. So disappointed. Definitely wouldn't recommend or go back.

I didn't try the food but the restaurant area seemed very popular. The staff are very friendly and the karaoke was a good laugh. Prices are ok for a city centre pub and it's worth a visit. There is a disabled access toilet on the ground floor and further toilets upstairs.

Firstly I’d like to say that the reviewer who posted last with an awful review, I was sat on number 2 near your table with my partner and baby and heard your witch hunt! You were rude to the bar man by clicking your fingers at him etc. We ordered our meals about the same time, I had steak the same as you, my partner SFC and both were delicious we left nothing on our plates. The pub wasn’t cold I’d even taken my coat off and the bar man was in a black short sleeved shirt! We eat at the Pear Tree often and everything is as it should be.
