Never been in this pub before so we dropped in as we were walking past, it's dark and old inside and very nice too, very friendly staff and good prices too, will definitely go back. The beer garden at the back is nice and quiet for a drink.

Staying at the excellent Ibis Styles nearby, we popped in for a drink when we saw they had Cruzcampo and Neck Oil. Nice comfortable old-style pub. Staff are really nice. Music a bit loud for me, but it was mostly my Spotify list. We ordered food. My companion's burger was good. My chicken tikka masala wasn’t great. Lots of rice. Lots of chips. But not much chicken. The following day, we returned for a drink but opted to eat elsewhere. We will definitely be back for a drink, next time we are in Liverpool.

Been coming here for many years but I think it's been taken over by new management. Anyway they used to sell Veltins on tap and a great selection of German bottled beers including Fruh kolne. Went to the bar and asked for 2 bottles of Peroni and a Fruh, was told they did not sell Peroni anymore and the guy serving me had no clue as to what Fruh beer was. They even had no Isle Of Mann real ales on. If you like Madri lager or Carling you will love the place. Add to that the toilets were disgusting with no soap to wash your hands with. Give it miss next time

Called in for a team meeting food and drinks ordered table of 4 5pm. Food was edible for pub food would not recommend though, problem was people coming in attempting to sell stuff ie vapes, deodorant and tobacco after telling them to go away a few times they got the hint but not before the bar staff shouted over "can you get anymore of them Yankee candles that you had last weeks will we return I don't think so.

Visited on a Sunday and they were serving pub food until 17.30. Had a few drinks elsewhere and then returned here for a rather nice Tavern Pie and chips. Turned out to be meat, potatoes and carrots and was pretty decent. Between the three of us we also tried the three desert options of sticky toffee, apple crumble and a caramelly ice creamy marsh mallowy affair. They were all good.

A couple of days off work and my twin brother and I decided to jump the train down from Kirkby to Liverpool City Centre and visit some of the great pubs our city is justifiably famous for, one of the first pubs we visited was Rigby's,one of the best real ale pubs in Liverpool. Housed in the very eye catching Rigby's Building, parts of this building date from 1726 but I'm not sure the pub is that old ,it's old but not that old ,interior is superb, multi roomed, main room is dominated by a solid wood serving bar, pubby decor and furnishings, stained glass features, big screens to enjoy the sport, there's a narrow side room that's beautiful and more used for dining and my favourite room is the big back room named in honour of Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson who allegedly stayed in this room ,this room looks superb, a beautiful brick fireplace, wood panelled walls, painting of the admiral and his ship The Victory ,there's also a really good courtyard that's brilliant to sit in the summer ,all in all its a fantastic pub to unwind in. We got here about midday, in fact we got here as the pub opened so we were about the first customers of the day so we could really appreciate what a great looking pub this is ,a quick study of their ale's and I opted for a Theakstons Brewery bitter while my brother opted to have a pale ale, these were served in pristine condition, we sat in the Nelson Room were we chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our ale's. My bitter was really good, dark,a finely balanced bittersweet taste ,a delicious aroma with subtle hoppy flavours, so thirst quenching, just a perfect bitter ,in my opinion a much underrated beer style, my twin brother also gave me a thumbs up to his ale, while sipping our brews this pub really filled up ,great atmosphere but not surprising to me that this pub is so popular with ale's served in this good a condition . We really enjoyed our ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Rigby's we had a great time. Rigby's is easy to locate along Dale Street, a street with some of the best real ale pubs in the city. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, midday till 11pm. Well worth seeking out if you're in the area.

There's many pub/bars and restaurants on Dale street and Rigbys is as good as it gets as it offer's a fantastic range of cask beers and a fantastic food menu. This is without a doubt me and my twin's most favourite pub in the city centre and is a pub we've visited literally hundreds of times over the past 40 years. This is one of the oldest pub's in the centre of Liverpool and one of the best. This pub is housed in the stunning Rigbys building and look's amazing. The pub itself has a brilliant multi-roomed interior with excellent fixtures and features throughout this excellent pub with the Nelson room the standout area of this superb pub. There is a superb enclosed courtyard that has excellent seating options and on a hot day it's a great place to enjoy a few beers. This was the 1st pub we went to in 2024 and what a pub to start the year off in.We went here very early in the afternoon and had a few pints of OKell's brewery beers'a superb cask beer from the Isle of Mann that where served in perfect condition and where well priced considering the pub we were in. This is a superb pub in a superb area thats well worth a visit and is easy to locate from Moorfields train station its just a short walk away.(This is my fifth review of Rigby's). Opening Hours. Nice wee pub, we'd visited the day before and sat in the courtyard. The night we had food the courtyard was full so we stayed inside. Food was ok, nothing exceptional, hubby has pizza and i had a small haddock & chips, which was fine. The staff seemed a bit bored and we were a bit bemused when the waitress brought the food to our table then walked off. So we helped ourselves to cutlery, napkins, vinegar & ketchup since we apparently weren't getting any... a man at another table saw us do this.. so he helped himself too! It was ok but we'd try somewhere else if we ever visit Liverpool again..

Ubicato in posizione centrale. Went there today for lunch with a friend. Ordered chicken burger and chips, which has been nice in last couple of visits. Today it was just a piece of dry chicken breast which, after a couple of bites, put down. Weird taste ss well. Had the chips, which were ok. Paid £10. Not worth it. Why change the way the food was before? Laziness or different chef? However, lad behind bar was great, friendly.

We sat inside as all outside seating was occupied ,we ordered premium ale's fro Big Bog Brewery ,served in excellent condition ,we kicked back ,chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. This ale was super tasty ,hoppy ,well balanced ,hints of caramel ,when this ale is served in pristine condition as in this pub it's such a delicious ale indeed. Without a shadow of a doubt one of the best real ale pubs along Dal Street but also one of the most historic ,it's a pub that dates from 1726 and walking in and you can feel the history attached to this pub. It's a three roomed pub ,each room has it's own distinct character ,main drinking room is superb ,a great looking serving bar ,period features ,great furnishings and decorated tastefully throughout ,side room is narrow and very cool looking ,more a dining area ,in my opinion the Nelson Room at the rear of the pub is the most evocative and is in honour of the great admiral with painting of the great man and his ship adorning the walls ,there's also a shared courtyard out back complete with big screen to enjoy the sport ,it's just an amazing pub to chill out in. We were here on a Monday afternoon ,pub was already busy with a great atmosphere ,we sat in the Nelson Room after ordering a pint each of pale ale ,these were served in tip top condition ,we settled down and planned out the day ahead while sipping our pale ale's. Pale ale served here was exceptional ,crisp, well balanced ,hoppy ,hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste ,hats off to the cellar person for the great condition he keeps and serves his real ale's in. Prime Minister Boris laid out the roadmap out of the pandemic for the hard hit hospitality sector with pubs being allowed to reopen on the 12th of April with outside service only and from the 17th of May inside and outside service allowed and by June 21st more or less back to normality so on the 12th of April my twin brother Stephen and I jumped the train down from Kirkby to Liverpool City Centre and visited some of the great pubs our city is justifiably famous for and Rigby's was at the top of our list of pubs to go too .A wonderful pub, multi roomed, dark wood features, a solid wood serving bar, great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside in their wonderful courtyard, with outside service only this is were we chose to drink .Greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system on our N.H.S covid app on our phones and then we were allocated a table in the courtyard, we ordered Okells Brewery bitter each, these were served in pristine condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the convivial atmosphere that only a pub can generate. My bitter was just so good ,a rich, well balanced bitter bursting with taste, after over three months without a draught ale it was something I savoured.I must say the staff here are spot on with their social distancing rules which ensued a great and safe vibe in their pub courtyard. We really enjoyed our bitters in here and the great vibe so much so that we ended up staying for another two pints of Okells Brewery bitter each before moving on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time, it was just great being out and about again coming back to some sort of normality. I’ve been drinking in Rigby’s for 38 years, it’s a great pub - definitely one of the best ten pubs in the city. Today, we walked into an absolute farce. Initially we sat outside but it was a bit too cold in the shaded part of the courtyard so we come inside. We asked one of the bartenders if it was ok to sit at the table next to the bar (it had just been vacated) - yes of course was his answer. We sat down. 5 minutes later another barman tells us we can’t use this table. Ok, so we move to another indoor table and another bartender shouts over the bar “you can’t just keep moving tables yer know !”.We eventually sat at another table, quickly finished our drinks and left. We did get an apology, but the three barmen were rude and inexperienced. They spoke to the three of us with absolutely no respect.

Before P M Boris was forced to close down our beautiful country because of the coronavirus visited upon us my twin brother Stephen and I decided to pop into town and enjoy some of the great pubs our city has to offer and Rigby's is and always has been one of my favourite pubs .I love the look of this pub, multi roomed ,the main room is dominated by a solid wood serving bar, theres a dining room and at the back of this pub is the Nelson Room ,named in honour of Admiral Lord Nelson ,this is my favourite room ,theres also a shared courtyard outback which is cool .My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Thursday evening, pub was absolutely packed with a great atmosphere, we got a pint of Okell's bitter each ,these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. My bitter was really good, a really tasty, well balanced bitter bursting with taste, very easy to drink,a beer style I really enjoy, my twin brother Stephen also gave me the thumbs up to his bitter. We both really enjoyed our bitter's in here before moving on and I cant wait to visit here again as soon as our wonderful health staff have defeated this pandemic. Rigby's is easy to locate along Dale Street ,this street is Liverpool's premier street for real ale pubs.Opening hours are;Monday to Sunday, 11.30am till 11pm. A great pub ,one I I highly recommend you visit if your in the area.

Rigby's along Dale Street is without a shadow of a doubt one of my favourite pubs, its a pub I've been visiting for well over 30 years and with each visit it gets better and better.I love the look of this pub,the main room is dominated by a very impressive wooden serving bar,tv's to enjoy the sport, great decor and furnishings, the back room or to give it its proper name The Nelson Room named in honour of the great Admiral who allegedly visited here is also cool ,bench tables,a very impressive fire place, great paintings including one of Admiral Lord Nelson, it's a very cosy room, you also have the side room which is more for dining which is lovely and of course you have the shared courtyard which when the weather is good is a great place to relax, it's just one wonderful pub.My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Saturday night, pub was very busy with a great atmosphere, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff, after a quick study of the real ales on offer I opted to have Okell's ipa while my brother went for Okell's bitter, both these ales were served in excellent condition, we luckily managed to get a table were we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. My ipa was outstanding, a rich, well balanced ipa bursting with taste, very easy to drink,a real ale style I am particularly fond of, my brother also gave me the thumbs up to his bitter. As we were pub hopping we only stayed for the one ale each before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Rigby's is easy to locate along Dale Street,a street and area teeming with pubs,in fact you can do a lazy man pub crawl here as Rigby's Pub,Ye Hole In Ye Wall Pub, The Saddle Inn Pub,The Lady Of Mann Pub and Jupiters Pub are all less than 30 seconds apart .Opening hours are;Monday to Sunday, 11.30am till 11pm. A wonderful pub,one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area.

On the CAMRA trail. One of the best Gin & Tonics we had two for around at tenner. Plenty of beers and ciders. They have plenty of seating and loved the dark wood panelled room at the back. They also have an enclosed outside space share with another pub next door for those that want to smoke or just sit. Loved the atmos and perfect pit stop to meet who want somewhere central. This place has lots of character the only problem as with most old pubs in Liverpool is the toilets are downstairs so those with mobility issues may struggle but don't let that put you off visiting. Friendly bar staff and very welcoming.

Visited Rigby's last Wednesday evening with friend. Ordered one large (£12.50) and one normal (£9.75) fish and chips. What appeared was derisory. Whilst the chips were nice proper handcut potatoes, the fish was ludicrously small. I have seen larger 'goujons'! Not only were the pieces small but very thin and the fish watery. The normal portion warranted one of these, the 'large' two. I struggle to decide which was the poorer value. I remarked to the waitress about the poor portion size, to which she answered by asking us if we would like anything else! Clearly trained to assume nobody will complain!Shame, because I ate there a couple of years ago and the food was fine.Beer also good.Just wish I'd taken a photo!

We ate here last night. My husband had fish and chips with mushy peas. Mushy?? They were like water, the chips dried out but the fish was adequate. I had a southern fried chicken burger and chips. The burger fitted in the palm of my hand with room to spare, and dried out chips as well. £26 for this with 2 small cokes, would be one of the worse meals we have ever had. No one else eating here, perhaps they had insider knowledge....

Popped in to drink then eat. Great food. Just had a classic burger with French fries. They offer other kinds of chips which was good for our group. Burger was thick and not overcooked and the bun was nicely browned, though the lettuce was a bit hit and miss. Big portion of fries. Would definitely visit again.

We dropped in on a random visit and found the staff to be very friendly. The bar area is pleasant and the drinks were good. We ate here but found the food to be only average. The fish with the fish and chips was tasteless, over cooked and lacking in fish, and our friends vegetable side was massively over cooked.

This is a wonderfully historic pub serves excellent foods and great real ales. You get the feeling that the bar has not changed in centuries. The staff and the locals were all very friendly and polite and the place was spotless. We will definitely be back next time we are in Liverpool.

I also visited Rigbys on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend. It was indeed very busy and a tad dishevelled. However I found the bar service very good, and never waited more than a minute to be served. Best of all, the O'kells IPA was superb.

called in on a sunday of the early may bank holiday in evening, wait at bar was forever. bar staff too busy talking to each other and their friends to serve the customers. good barstaff know who is next in line to be served but not here. bar manager had no desire to reprimand her staff for their poor customer care and didn't seem interested. this place used to have excellent staff several months ago on my last visit but has taken a downward turn for the worst.would certainly not recommend it to any visitors to our city as things stand, would suggest senior management need to take a look at the current sunday evening set up.

Having read previous reviews about the Thomas Rigby, I came in with high expectations and, in truth, was rather disappointed. It’s a nice enough looking pub but decor wise, it wasn’t as grand as I expected, and I thought it a tad dull.

Great old fashioned pub with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. Menu is on the expensive side for whats on offer and food service stops at 7pm but it was home cooked pie and chips or gammon and chips etc. The service was great with a friendly chatty waiter.

Firstly I’d like to say that the reviewer who posted last with an awful review, I was sat on number 2 near your table with my partner and baby and heard your witch hunt! You were rude to the bar man by clicking your fingers at him etc. We ordered our meals about the same time, I had steak the same as you, my partner SFC and both were delicious we left nothing on our plates. The pub wasn’t cold I’d even taken my coat off and the bar man was in a black short sleeved shirt! We eat at the Pear Tree often and everything is as it should be.

The staff were rude, the drinks are expensive, the toilets had no loo role and there was White powder on the side, the vent above was full of dust, we were put in the so called VIP section a tiny room the back of the seating area fell off and the music was way too loud, would never return there are many great bars in Liverpool this is not one
