Was stopping a few doors down for work in the area. Barmaid was friendly. Cosy near the fire. Will try the foos next time

Wonderful food with very pleasant attentive staff.Would highly recommend.1st visit but will definitely return. At the higher end price wise but well worth it.

Very poorly cooked risotto. Sticky, clumpy and unappealing. Battered fish slimey and batter undercooked. Told server who sent message to chef - no feedback received and no reduction of bill. Would not go back or recommend it to anyone. Spoilt the evening.

Quite possibly one of the best breakfast rolls I’ve had, coffee was excellent and the service was so welcoming and friendly. I stopped in half way though my Steel Rigg to Lanercost Hadrians wall walk, will be skipping the rest of the way. What a lovely cafe. 100% worth a visit.

BOOKED FOR SUNDAY LUNCH, AS ALWAYS THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC AND THE STAFF VERY FRIENDLY, WHY 4 STARS! WE WERE SEATED IN THE RECEPTION ROOM OUTSIDE THE RESTAURANT WHICH AFFECTED THE WHOLE AMBIANCE OF THE EXPERIENCE, MAY ASWELL HAVE BEEN SITTING AT HOME. BABY SHOWER PEOPLE ARRIVED, SO WE WERE SURROUNDED BY BOXES AND BALLOONS WHILST WE WERE EATING BEFORE THEY WERE TAKEN ELSEWHERE. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED WHEN BOOKING IF THE RESTAURANT WAS FULL AND WE WOULD HAVE CHANGED THE DATE. DISAPPOINTING SEATING ARRANGEMENT.

First and foremost we had a fabulous stay and are looking forward to making a return visit. Our room Church Stile, was a delight. Beautifully appointed and very spacious. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner and plan on trying the Taster Menu next time that we visit. As for the staff, they were very pleasant, friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome.

Like the staff the food is always great We live 25 miles away but always call I'm if we are passing

If I could give it 6 stars I would!! The best food we ate during our stay there and in the surrounding areas. Lake District Etc. The owners were very friendly and seemed to love what they do. Furthermore, the prices compared to the quality of the food are quite low. Vfm!!

EXCELLENT SUNDAY ROAST,WELL LOOKED AFTER BY CHARLIE,CONSIDERING HE IS AN EVERTON FAN HE WAS VERY CHEERFUL AND HELPED, A CREDIT TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT,WELL DONE.

Had a great overnight stay at the plough, every member of staff were so friendly and helpful and the evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Our room was absolutely beautiful and cosy with a very comfy bed and a great modern bathroom. I would recommend anyone to stay.

had to find somewhere to charge my phone and sit because all trains were cancelled - they were so helpful and end up getting food. really lovely staff, had the spaghetti carbonara with parmesan which was stunning and the eton mess style homemade dessert which was meringue, honeycombe ice cream and white chocolate sauce. honestly was the best thing i’ve ever tasted. surprised it wasn’t busy because the food was amazing and affordable, really underrated and will be coming back again

Prompt service great food, good value for money

Soooo happy that Christina Kirbys dog was accommodated for and didn’t get disturbed by humans using a public house. Please inform me next time you are out and I will keep out of your precious dogs way.
