Met up here for breakfast before setting out for outdoor adventures. all the food was nice. Not being able to substitute things at breakfast is a bit odd. I can't eat mushrooms and detest cooked tomato, pretty much anywhere else if you knock off two things the server would ask if youd like another egg or whatever, but I suppose its not a dealbreaker. Pleasant staff. Will return

Visited with my wife and a friend for afternoon coffee and cakes. Drinks were fine, and our friend’s square of cake was fine, however my wife and I had quite meagre slices of cake, her Victoria sponge was a very narrow slice, and my coffee cake was smaller still, however we finished our cakes and coffee and paid the bill. As we were leaving we observed someone else having cake brought to them which was by contrast a very generous slice indeed. So it’s pot luck really - it may be the case that the cakes that are selling well are cut thinly to maximise revenue per slice, whereas the less popular variants are cut generously to get rid of them, but it’s shockingly inconsistent .

Looked at the menus online and they appealed so made a specific journey from Cockermouth to have lunch today. We were not disappointed as the veggie platter for 2 was fantastic. Every item was delicious and well worth the cost. Coffee was good too! Only issue was we couldn't see a sign when travelling from Keswick so has to stop in a layby and Google directions. Turned out we weren't too far away but it was on the opposite side of the road.

We stopped here for breakfast this morning after being recommended to us by our camp site at Gill Head farm. This is a fantastic place, warm, dog friendly and serves a delicious cooked breakfast. Perfect stopping place on the way to Ullswater and Keswick.

Best cooked breakfast in Cumbria - "The Full Northern!" I come here most Fridays and the fab ladies who serve it up are brilliant!

I had a great time at Basecamp this afternoon, the farm shop is absolutely superb with a wide range of products, the staff were really friendly and attentive plus the prices were fantastic! The food was really good quality and there are plant based and gluten free versions which is a huge plus. On the site there is a beautiful big lake and fields full of Alpacas! (Which were incredibly cute) Really really enjoyed my time here 10/10 will definitely come again next time I’m on the A66

Just off the A66 heading west towards Keswick, makes Basecamp North Lakes an idillic stop off before our adventures around the North Lakes. The tea room offers some great choices, no matter your dietary requirements, gluten free and vegan options that are super tasty. The farm shop also has some great choices, offering locally sourced products from all over Cumbria, and at a great value you money. All the staff are very friendly, and this place has such a ‘homey’ vibe to it, but not to mention our favourite part… THE ALPACAS! What incredible animals these are, we took part in a meet and greet, where we got to feed these animals right out of our hands! What friendly, fluffy adorable friends. Can’t wait to return, 10/10, and would definitely recommend!

We recently visited here with a group of ladies from our Church. The surroundings are lovely with views of the Fells and a small lake on site. My friends Carrie and Charlotte enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast, the beef and potatoes were Devine and it was very well priced. The staff were extremely friendly and we were served by two fine young gentlemen named Sam and Rudy. After dinner we had a good look through the shop which had a lot of the local products we love. We then walked over to the fence line to find a huge herd of playful alpacas next to the car park. 😍 WE WILL BE BACK!

If you are looking for a place with outstanding service, location and food, this is the one!! Basecamp North Lakes is the perfect place to stop by for a bite to eat, with wonderful staff and atmosphere and fantastic surrounding views with alpacas and llamas roaming in the distance. The selection of food and treats in the shop is great with plenty of options for everyone. I felt so welcomed the whole time by the staff. The location is super handy with being just outside of Keswick, making it very easy to get to. This is definitely my go to place, and I can't wait to meet the alpacas and llamas that live there, they all look so happy and well cared for, its lovely to see!!

Basecamp North Lakes offers a very picturesque lake view background to stop for a bite to eat/drink! The cakes are super tasty, along with their wide variety of foods to choose from on their deli counter and farm shop. They even cater to gluten free & vegan preferences! The staff are all lovely too, big smiles all round 😄 To top it all off, YOU CAN MEET THEIR ALPACAS 😍 They have a big field of beautiful alpacas roaming alongside the A66 that you can book to feed and meet them, perfect!

I’m not normally a one to complain but as I rarely get out and it was my birthday I felt I had to say something. My husband and I arranged to go to Fantails to celebrate with great food and atmosphere as we have been previously and have never been disappointed. However on this occasion we felt rushed through. I’ve never in my life been so rushed to have a 3 course meal. We initially thought the service was quick as we were offered drinks immediately and the menu. We were given a few minutes to decide. We ordered both a starter and our main meals and started to enjoy the evening. My husband’s starter arrived very quickly, within a few minutes in fact. Once he had finished his last mouth full. The staff came over taking his plates away, even though he still had bread left to eat! Which he had to eat without his bread plate! We thought maybe the waitress didn’t realise. The main meal came literally a few minutes later. No break at all. The main was lovely and took us a while to get through. It was then like a 100m sprint race …. The waitress was over within seconds to clear our plates as my husband put his cutlery down. It was as though they were watching us on camera! We were asked the question straight away ‘would you like to see the dessert menu?’ We looked at each other thinking goodness we would like our mains to go down 10 minutes at least before we even looked at a dessert menu! Any ways as we felt uncomfortable with the atmosphere at this point. We ordered our desserts and they arrived around 2 minutes after ordering so this was about 5 minutes after our last mouthful of our main meal. At this point we were annoyed. But to top it off. My husband hadn’t even finished his dessert (put his last mouthful in and chewing) the waitress came over and said are you finished? My husband with his mouth still full said ‘well just about’ while the bowls were whisked away. The whole meal was squished into an hour if that. My rare evening out was ruined. If we’d known going at 5:30pm on a Sunday was going to be a rush we’d have gone somewhere else, and quite frankly enjoyed our meal at our own pace. I have had many good meals here in the past. But I doubt very much I’d be back because of this evening.

We came to the greyhound for Sunday roast as a family of 5. Firstly the food was delicious! We had roast beef, roast ham and macaroni cheese followed by syrup sponge with custard mixed fruit pavlova and ice cream...the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us...they made us starters even though they weren't on the menu for Sunday and even made up a small bowl of food for the baby at our request. Nothing was too much trouble...we all left full and satisfied. We will most definitely be back. Thank you so much for an amazing meal experience. Richard

Closing down soon. Unfortunately another country pub will close down on 30th June 2024. Staff were good and doing their best in the circumstances.
