Ir a coger algunos!

Found on TA when looking for somewhere different not too far away to treat mum. The food was home made, fresh and delicious. Ranging from Toasties, soup, Sunday lunches, steak pies. Even bought cakes and scones to take away which we're delicious. Staff extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Will be back.

We visit the Farm Shop regularly when we are in the area - some times to eat in, sometimes to buy some of their meat pies to take away ( steak or chicken and leek in particular ). All their food is lovely including the ice cream - check out the maple waffles. Staff are always friendly and cheerful. A treasure in the countryside near Carlisle. Geoff and Ruth, Staffordshire

Hi popped in here for a coffee and scone, delicious home made scones with lashings of jam and cream. Had a look around the shop and bought farm eggs and a homemade steak pie, the pie was full of melt in the mouth steak, and very very reasonably priced. Very friendly staff, quick service in a delightful setting. Well worth a visit.

Just got back from a really delicious Christmas lunch here. Choice of turkey, salmon, nut roast od beef stroganoff. I had the turkey - mountains of it! And a big dish of delicious fresh veg. I passed on a starter, but the prawn cocktails looked good and the soup smelled wonderful. For sweet I was spoilt for choice, but opted for the pavlova, topped with fresh raspberries and strawberries. I would have said plumped rather than opted, but I did feel rather plumped at the end because it was all too good to leave any! Coffee to finish. Yummy. And there are more goodies to buy in the shop.

I stop here every time I visit the UK on my drives from England to Scotland. The Farm shop has some of the best cheeses in the country, as well as a great selection of meats and sausages. Who said the British can't make good cheese. Fantastic selection! Grub at the restaurant is great too. On a sunny day(not too many of them up there) the view is great and the duck pond is a great place to relax after a long journey from the south. It is the only highway stop in all the world that I can think of recommending!

This small family run restaurant attached to a tempting Farm Shop serve the best Sunday Lunch I have eaten anywhere. Sensational lamb that melts in the mouth, vegetables cooked to perfection and desserts to die for! After the main course the desserts were worth a Michelin star alone, my personal favourite the apple and blackcurrant crumble could not be bettered. Can't wait to go back.

This cafe and farm shop are well worth a visit. Lunch is served in a large purpose built dining room with well spaced tables and waitress service. Three of us ( all male) chose from the menu of the day , two of us had steak pie which was mouthwateringly good with beautifully cooked fresh vegetables, the other member of the party had the all day breakfast. This consisted of two eggs, two sausages, mushrooms, bacon and tomatoes, toast, marmalade and butter. All were cooked to perfection. Total bill came to about £30 including teas and coffees. Fantastic value. Can't wait to go back but next time I want to try the breakfast!

I’m not normally a one to complain but as I rarely get out and it was my birthday I felt I had to say something. My husband and I arranged to go to Fantails to celebrate with great food and atmosphere as we have been previously and have never been disappointed. However on this occasion we felt rushed through. I’ve never in my life been so rushed to have a 3 course meal. We initially thought the service was quick as we were offered drinks immediately and the menu. We were given a few minutes to decide. We ordered both a starter and our main meals and started to enjoy the evening. My husband’s starter arrived very quickly, within a few minutes in fact. Once he had finished his last mouth full. The staff came over taking his plates away, even though he still had bread left to eat! Which he had to eat without his bread plate! We thought maybe the waitress didn’t realise. The main meal came literally a few minutes later. No break at all. The main was lovely and took us a while to get through. It was then like a 100m sprint race …. The waitress was over within seconds to clear our plates as my husband put his cutlery down. It was as though they were watching us on camera! We were asked the question straight away ‘would you like to see the dessert menu?’ We looked at each other thinking goodness we would like our mains to go down 10 minutes at least before we even looked at a dessert menu! Any ways as we felt uncomfortable with the atmosphere at this point. We ordered our desserts and they arrived around 2 minutes after ordering so this was about 5 minutes after our last mouthful of our main meal. At this point we were annoyed. But to top it off. My husband hadn’t even finished his dessert (put his last mouthful in and chewing) the waitress came over and said are you finished? My husband with his mouth still full said ‘well just about’ while the bowls were whisked away. The whole meal was squished into an hour if that. My rare evening out was ruined. If we’d known going at 5:30pm on a Sunday was going to be a rush we’d have gone somewhere else, and quite frankly enjoyed our meal at our own pace. I have had many good meals here in the past. But I doubt very much I’d be back because of this evening.

We came to the greyhound for Sunday roast as a family of 5. Firstly the food was delicious! We had roast beef, roast ham and macaroni cheese followed by syrup sponge with custard mixed fruit pavlova and ice cream...the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us...they made us starters even though they weren't on the menu for Sunday and even made up a small bowl of food for the baby at our request. Nothing was too much trouble...we all left full and satisfied. We will most definitely be back. Thank you so much for an amazing meal experience. Richard

Closing down soon. Unfortunately another country pub will close down on 30th June 2024. Staff were good and doing their best in the circumstances.
