We called in midweek for lunch. We noticed 3 tables empty so went and sat down, as it is counter service. We were looking through the menu when a member of staff came over and said “have you booked”. I said no and we were asked to leave as told we needed to book - no reserved notice on any of the tables, so I found this a bit odd.

Walked from Keswick centre to Nichol End Marina. A lovely walk but was glad when I arrived at the marina cafe. Roger (jolly Roger) welcomed me in and was so helpful and friendly. It was quiet as the season is coming to an end. I had an oat milk coffee and a raisin sticky toffee scone. It was so big! Put half in a bag to take home. Plenty of choice of scones all fresh and looking delicious. Prices were so reasonable. Roger then gave me a ride in his boat across Derwent Water. He’s such a nice man. It made my day to find a gem of a place. Would def recommend if in the area. Will return and try out the boating/canoeing etc next year.

We’ve stayed close to this lovely tearoom on quite a few occasions over the last 30 years! We had the pleasure of more regular visits on a recent stay both to the shop (essentials, delicious cakes, teas, coffees, hot food, ice cream, Cumbrian gifts, cards and importantly take away menu) and to the tearoom where we enjoyed toasties and delicious hot chocolate. Being able to take homemade lamb pasties and lots of other goodies is so helpful when self catering and fancy a night off while supporting an established local business. Well placed if staying in the Borrowdale Valley or if you are walking the Cumbrian Way make a plan to stop. Currently open 10-5 daily Above all, you can expect a lovely warm welcome from all the team 😁

We visit this pub all the time and I thought it was due a review! What an amazing place. Food is good honest pub grub with Specials. The staff are really friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is always good with locals and walkers - good craic. Almost forgot the real ale which is always being changed. Proper village pub at the heart of the community with an amazing landlady !

We visited on our holiday after searching for pubs nearby. The only downfall is the service was abit slow at first, obviously we’re not from the area so we got told what table we were at but didn’t get told if it was bar service or table service so we ended up sitting there for 10 mins with no menus not knowing. We went on a Sunday so the menu was two courses for less than £16! Very good value, the portions are good sizes and the food was lovely.

We had a lovely dining experience for our anniversary. We had the steak which was quite salty along with the fries. The service was quite slow too, but everything was made up with the dessert which was exquisite. Beautiful presentation, perfectly balanced taste. Friendly welcoming staff.

Staff were so friendly, welcoming, bubbly and warm, they really made our experience when they were having a laugh and bantering with customers. The food was delicious, really good portion sizes and reasonably priced. Didn't have to wait long at all for service, drinks or food. We are so glad we decided to try this place before we left Cockermouth to return home. We even asked to take some scones with us for when we got home.

We came here for Sunday Lunch. You have to book as its very popular. There is plenty on the menu and the prices are very reasonable. The portions are huge - even a children's portion would probabily suit must adults! I think it was something like £24 for adults (3 courses) or £12 for children. Traditional home cooked food.
