Just had a lovely lunch of turkey pie, veg and mash. Absolutely delicious, piping hot served on a hot plate. Lovely service in a nice cosy room. Was a very impromptu visit as was in the area so will definitely be coming back again soon to try the Sunday lunch.

I have eaten here a lot and most recently last month on a visit to the area. Food was excellent as always (I had the fish and chips on one occasion and meat pie on another). I cannot fault it. It is pricey for sure but never been disappointed with the quality. Staff are very friendly and helpful

Came here for a Christmas party night, Saturday 2nd Dec. It was my daughters 21st the week before so decided to have all the family here to mark the occasion. I can't praise the place enough. Beautiful hotel, 3 course meal was amazing. 19 of us and all the food was piping hot and served in a timely manner. The staff were brilliant, they were extremely busy but nothing was to much trouble. One of the best party nights I have been too. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Group and disco were excellent too. A really good mix of music for all ages..would definitely go back.

Went today for Sunday Lunch. Starters and puddings were very good. My main course was poor. I chose the pork. This was undercooked chewy and very fatty. The vegetables were well cooked and I enjoyed these. Shame that the meat spolit the whole lunch for me. Service was also very slow.

Situate in a very picturesque part of the Lake District, made the 2/12 hour drive well worthwhile, the lady on reception was very welcoming and swift in booking us in. We stayed in a double deluxe room the view was fantastic looking out on to the surrounding countryside with horses, sheep and cattle in the neighbouring fields, the amenities were excellent and the bed was extremely comfortable. I would highly recommend this as a great place to stay to relax and recuperate.

Came here for lunch on a wet Monday in January, the place was empty although one other table did come half way through us eating our meal. Service was great and very friendly by a lady who has worked there for a long time (I remember her from years ago) she’s very attentive. Starter of garlic Mushrooms and a soup were nice but sadly the mains of chicken and one pork were a real let down, new potatoes rock hard and not hot, chicken chewy, vegetables looked and tasted old. Sadly wouldn’t be in a rush to return.

We came here during the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme. We booked in advance which was good because they were turning people away when we got there. The restaurant area had the tables well spaced out. Unfortunately they got our order wrong. They brought out the order pad to show us they were right but what they had written wasn’t actually what we’d ordered so they must have miss heard what we said. The correct meal was brought out quickly, but mine must have been under the hot lamp whilst the other was being cooked as the sauce had developed a skin. The food was quite nice though when it arrived and at half price it was very cheap.

We took advantage of the eat out scheme, a very reduced menu choice, which we expected. we had to wait a long time for our meal, but we didn't have a starter. The main course was ok, but not the best we have every had here, then it took ages for us to get the bill and pay.

We visited this hotel today for Sunday lunch with our family to celebrate my birthday. The set lunch menu was quite extensive for each course and reasonably priced at £17 per head. There was a limited childrens menu available but each adult meal was available as a reduced portion for children. The service was excellent and the roast beef, which all the adults had, just melted in your mouth. We spoke to two ladies who went there every Sunday for lunch and I think that says it all. I would certainly recommend the restaurant in the Hundith as a place to visit.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Hundith Hill recently and I would not recommend it to anyone. The service and attitude of the management staff really was shameful and disgusting. We were not given any details about how our day would go and how things would happen until we paid our deposit. As we had never planned a wedding before we didn't realise the sort of things we should really of been asking. I feel like the wanted our money before they sat us down and explained things to us. Once finding out there was only one function room we could use and that we could not get into the room until 9.30 on the day of the wedding I expressed my concerns as too which they brushed off and completely ignored. My dream of decorating the venue myself was shattered. I had to leave it to them. I chose to bring in a friend to help me create the vision I had dreamed of to which they were not happy about. After this I felt like everything I asked for was a hassle to them and the attitude of the owner and a manager towards me was disgusting. Everytime I went for a meeting on my own I felt undermined and patronised by these same two people, but when other people came with me theit attitudes completely changed. The whole build up was nothing but stressful for me as they made everything hardwork. They do not put the bride and groom first and in no way do they try and do their upmost best to make sure the day goes exactly how they want, which is what I believe any wedding venue should do. Instead they do what suits them and what is convenient for them. Because of this we had many disagreements. On the day I wanted to get married outside. This was very important to me which they new but they tried every possible way too get me to change my mind, because it was easier for them. I pushed my heals in and waited to the very last minute to decide as I really wanted it to happen if it could but in the end the weather didn't allow it so we had to change the plan. The manager came over to tell me it was raining and her attitude was disgusting. I was in the middle of getting my make-up done with my back to the door so I answered her saying it was hopefully just a shower and there was still time for it too change to which she stormed off without even replying to me. Being treated like this on what is supposed to me the most special day of your life is just awful. My friend went over to the room at one point to see how everything was going and she ended up having an argument with the owner!!!! She asked for some of the covered chairs to be moved to the front as they were set out very randomly and she knew I wouldn't of like it. The owner refused to move them so she said well I know the bride would want them moved. He said no and my friend said 'they have paid alot of money for this and they want it to be perfect' to which he replied 'no they have not'. I only found this out the day after as my friend did not want to upset me but now I know this I am so annoyed and actually upset that an established business like that can treat people this way!!!! The owner was also rude and very abrupt to one of the suppliers I used, which is not the first time she has experienced that kind of behaviour in that hotel. We spent a fortune at the hotel to have a perfect day and they did nothing but ruin it. Not to mention the amount of money they made out of our guests on the bat aswell. People like that should not be running a business and I would urge people to stay well away and do not waste your money. I feel everyone should know how unprofessional and rude they are. They clearly cannot cope with weddings and they should not have a licence to hold ceremony's there!!!!! I didn't complain to them in the end as my problem is with the owner and manager so there's nothing they will do about it and I can't exactly go to someone higher. This is the very reason they get away with treating people like this.

Canapes, starter, main, dessert then coffee. All for £29pp. I had the ham hock terrine, beef stroganoff and sticky toffee pud. Staff lovely and attentive. Lovely setting and well worth the drive out there to go for a gorgeous meal! Definatly would say to any one give this place a try. Much more then a wedding venue but an ideal place to eat! Sorry no photos to go alone with this review, but im a great believer that mobile phones should not be at a dining table. But for this one i wish i had! Thats how nice it was.

Myself and some friends & family went for afternoon tea for a family member’s birthday. I’ve had many afternoon teas across Cumbria as you can easily get voucher online these days. I’m not saying it’s bad but it’s the bottom of the pile in terms of all the afternoon teas I have had in Cumbria so far. The sandwiches were a bit dry, as were the scones, and the cream for the scones and in all the cakes didn’t really taste of anything at all, I think it might have been bought in. There was a yummy lemon posset and a nice bit of madeira cake but overall the afternoon tea lacked flavor. As I say it wasn’t awful just mediocre and in comparison to other places not worth it. The service was fine. The views were lovely and the area we ate in had nice décor. It’s a bit of a shame really as it could have been a potential wedding venue but I will be looking elsewhere.

Ww came with a very large group of family so I can undeestand how busy they must have been as we all ordered food. The battered brie starter was lovely however my main meal of sirloin steak which cost neatly 17 pounds was bloody and raw after I'd asked for medium. About six steaks came out and they were handed out to the people who had ordered steak but not on preference to how it was cooked. So I must of got someone else's rare steak which was just blood and flesh. Couldn't really complain as it all took so long and a replacement would have got in the way of what the family had planned. Very disappointed especially as it was so expensive. No kids menu either my 5 year old had to order something from the appetisers for her main.

We only ate here, twice. Lovely food large portions. First time was in the Bar area, plenty of room and great service. The second time was in the restaurant where you can still have the bar Menu.Same again great food and Service. The price was good too. I can’t recommend this place enough I bet it is also great to stay here. If you decided to eat here and you are staying at Graysonside either take the car or a Torch. It’s about half a mile each way but it is very dark on the way back.Defo recommend.

As a group of four friends staying in Cockermouth on a short break, we were looking for a nice place to have an evening meal, away from the usual pub-grub venues. Having studied the reviews on Trip Adviser, we chose the Hundith Hill Hotel as being a suitable venue. The hotel is located just a short drive outside of Cockermouth and you will be warmly welcomed by friendly staff at this lovely country hotel. We had a pre-meal drink outside in the beautiful gardens with spectacular views and ate in the Bar Room, which whilst not as nice as the main restaurant is still a pleasant place in which to eat your meal. The food was of exceptional quality, with a good choice of various dishes on both the daily menu and specials board. I would highly recommend the Hundith Hill Hotel to anyone staying in the Cockermouth and Keswick area of the Lake District.

£13.25 for a three course Sunday lunch including coffee and shortbread can't be bad and indeed it wasn't. The food was very good as was the service although a tad more professionalism would help. Our table was located in the function room which seemed to the overflow from the dining room, it was a bit of a barn and lacked any ambience but the views were nice.Having said that and given the price I may be nit-picking however it's on our "might go back" list rather than our "will go back" list.

Fewer places set than meals ordered and somewhat grudging correction. Service slow as meals were ordered in advance. Food OK but presentation somewhat lacking.

I booked the restaurant for afternoon tea yesterday for 6 as it was my daughters birthday and a friends. We have had the afternoon tea here before and this time was just as nice. The sandwiches are a perfect size, mini cream cakes, scones with jam & cream, homemade cakes and biscuits were absolutely superb. The lady serving us was very nice and helpful and kept the fresh tea coming! The setting is beautiful and we all really enjoyed it and can't wait to do it again. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have had Sunday lunch at the Hundith Hill several times. We also have a holiday cottage and many of our guests (on our recommendation) have eaten here. We have never heard a bad report of this place. Our own experience is that the food is of an excellent standard, plentiful with a good menu choice, served in lovely surroundings by friendly and attentive staff and at a bargain price. What more could you want? Would heartily recommend the Hundith Hill

The Hundith Hill Hotel is situated a few miles outside of Cockermouth towards Lorton and looks over the Lorton valley. The family run hotel is well managed by a very friendly small team who cannot do enough for their guests. There is a standard bar menu along with a number of specials available each day. The waiting on staff are very friendly and polite and although many of them are very young their professionalism is a real credit to the hotel management.

We visited at the end of December for a bar lunch. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely location. Warm, comfortable bar lounge with lovely views and comfortable seats. Wide choice on printed menu plus a number of specials on a separate board. Some unusual choices along with old favourites. Food was plentiful, hot and nicely presented. It was quite swiftly served despite a party of fourteen ordering just ahead of us in the dining room. An all round pleasurable experience, well worth repeating.

After having a really nice afternoon tea here a couple of months ago we booked to return again yesterday. There were 9 of us for afternoon tea and once again it was outstanding with fresh sandwiches, homemade scones, cakes and biscuits and as much tea & coffee as you want. We sat for a couple of hours and weren't asked to leave or made to feel uncomfortable the staff just kept asking if we would like more tea or coffee. It was really relaxing and we will be booking to go again very soon I would highly recommend it.

What a lovely meal for my 'Special Birthday'. We were given the dining room to ourselves (as there were quite a few of us) and were treated to the best of food and service (again). Many thanks to Wayne and all the other lovely staff. The bar is a regular haunt for many locals and we use it, too, as often as we are able. The hotel is in a lovely location and we know people who regularly stay there and love it. I'm not surprised. If you get the chance, visit and enjoy it.

It might seem strange to review a funeral tea but it was so good, I wanted to say something. Usually at such events the food is mediocre at best. Today it was excellent. Lovely soup, quality fresh sandwiches, delicious scones with jam and cream and very attentive, friendly staff.Shame the weather wasn't better today as I suspect the views are lovely. Will give this place a go for dinner soon.

Myself and four friends had afternoon tea here today and it was beautiful. We were the only party in the dining room which meant it was nice & quiet, the food was served as soon as we sat down and was a lovely selection of finger sandwiches, homemade scones with jam & cream, homemade cakes & biscuits, with as much tea or coffee we wanted. We have tried a few different places for afternoon tea and we all said this was the best. It's a lovely hotel with a very relaxed atmosphere and we have already booked to return.

We visited Hundith Hill last night, for my mothers birthday, and even though, it may not be the cheapest place to visit, for a special event, it was worth the money.I had the pork fillets in a peppercorn sauce, while my mother had the trout. They may not have been the largest of portions, but we were both supprised by how filling they were.We only had the main course, but neither of us could manage a sweet,

I have just returned home from Sunday lunch at Hundith Hill and decided to write a review straight away s I was very impressed!I had booked a table for 4 as a treat for my in-laws. husband and myself.I had a phone call on Friday to confirm - impressed at this also. It has been quite a few years since my last visit here but I am well ware of its fine local reputation for meals, so was looking forward to lunch here.As with anywhere with a good reputation you would expect it to be busy at key times - as it was today, but the seer organisation of the staff and ability to do their job well shone through. We had a drink i the bar first and they took our order before being shown through to the dining room and our table.Fabric napkins, and an element of not being overcrowded are nice things to be greeted by initially. Our starters came very quickly, and were lovely, plentiful and well executed with good presentation.I had chosen the roast beef for main course, and was very impressed indeed! Lots of lovely roast beef which was tender accompanied by homemade yorkshire puddings, roast & new potatoes, cauliflower cheese and much more. We asked for a jug of water - this arrived within moments, as did the extra condiments to go with our individual meals - again nicely presented in ramekins.Puddings, were all gorgeous - I had the strawberry cheesecake and was very impressed, both by presentation and the fact that it was clearly home made. After we had finished our meals we were given the choice of having our coffee at the table or moving through to the lounge. Again, a nice touch. We were served coffee and home made biscuits in the lounge by another friendly member of staff. All I can say is that I will most definitely go back - sooner the better! And would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. Superb value for money in a lovely setting - fabulous!

This is a great setting and would be fantastic for a wedding. We visited for lunch. Service was great. The food is typical pub food with real cut chips. Food was fine. The salad was slightly disappointing in that it did not come with any dressings or sauces and presentation was average. Sandwiches were very fresh with soft bread. Lasagne was great. Portion sizes were average. Views are great if you manage to get a table by the window. We visited several restaurants in the area but this was not one of my favourites but certainly no causes to complain - just others are better.

We attended a wedding. Most of the breaded chicken was raw, we complained about this to the waitress and then she approached us that the chef probed it for 83 degrees but when we showed her the proof that it was really raw, she took the chicken from the guest and from the buffet and she didn't put it back. She never say anything about it or even apologize for these. One of the guest sitting with us is pregnant and she don't even know that the food she will eat is raw, luckily she heard about the people on table sating it's raw she asked and showed hers to check and yes, it's raw. She didn't eat it.

Decided to go for afternoon tea with my daughter and it was delightful. The setting was lovely with glorious views over the hotels well maintained gardens and in the distance the snow topped hills over looking Keswick. The choice of food was superb with 4 different sandwiches, 3 different biscuits, 3 different cream cakes and a scone with jam and cream. It was excellent value for money at half the price of another local hotel that provides wonderful afternoon teas. We will definitely return and would highly recommend afternoon tea at the Hundith Hill.

Perfect stop for a coffee break - the view over the lake with bird feeders in front was great. The chairs in the lounge were very comfortable - best decaf coffee I have had. Looked at the menu and it was a shame that only a coffee stop. Did have a taste of the local beers!!

Walked from Keswick centre to Nichol End Marina. A lovely walk but was glad when I arrived at the marina cafe. Roger (jolly Roger) welcomed me in and was so helpful and friendly. It was quiet as the season is coming to an end. I had an oat milk coffee and a raisin sticky toffee scone. It was so big! Put half in a bag to take home. Plenty of choice of scones all fresh and looking delicious. Prices were so reasonable. Roger then gave me a ride in his boat across Derwent Water. He’s such a nice man. It made my day to find a gem of a place. Would def recommend if in the area. Will return and try out the boating/canoeing etc next year.
