The best dog friendly cafe in the lakes. Gorgeous food and the warmest welcome. This is our go to place when walking in the north lakes. All of the food always hits the spot but the cakes are just gorgeous!

I had the best soup of my life here! Sweet potato, carrot and rosemary, it tasted like Christmas Day!! I am Ceoliac and they had gluten free bread (it’s not advertised on the menu, you do need to ask). I had the halloumi sandwich with a bowl of soup on the side, my husband had a ham cheese toastie with soup plus our drinks it came to under £20. We were rather full after that so we didn’t have any cake, which looked amazing. There was a gluten free cake option also. The staff are all super friendly as well.

Visited for breakfast, both of us opted for the hunter breakfast which sounded delicious. The quality of the sausage was poor / cheap. The food wasn’t cooked fresh when ordered, but it was warmed up. The price of the breakfast does not reflect the quality / quantity received (places in Keswick with a lot better value for money serving better quality produce). The cutlery is all stored in one pot on the table, for multiple customer use, considering we are at the back end of the COVID-19 pandemic this doesn’t really seem appropriate as who knows who has touched, coughed, sneezed on those items before our use, there was also a couple of items that appeared dirty in that pot. The space is small and they have crammed in as many tables as possible, to move from your table you have to ask somebody on another table to move. I know cafes / restaurants want to maximise profits but cramped conditions isn’t the way to go.

I messaged through Instagram the night before to check the opening times, that it was dog friendly (she goes everywhere with me- if it’s not dog friendly we are not going!) and to see if they did takeaway cakes to take home as gifts for family. I received a very speedy and friendly response despite it being quite late into the evening. I was not disappointed when I arrived, very well staffed with lovely friendly staff, cute decor and a great selection of cakes and scones. The cake I had was divine and the coffee the best I’ve ever tasted- so much so, I bought a bag of it to take home with the delicious selection of cakes that were boxed up for me (lemon and berry drizzle, biscoff brownie and chocolate orange brownie). This will definitely be my go-to cafe when visiting the Lake District in future.

There are a number of independent cafes in Keswick. I only wish my high street looked the same. I tried to visit this cafe twice during my short stay. Based on good reviews and it looks charming. New Year’s Day closed and good for them to give selves and staff a well deserved day off. I returned the next day around 11.30am after I already completed first hike of the day.Tried to order a soup and sandwich and was told with incredulity that the soup wasn’t ready. With a nod to the big pot on the stove. No problem . I returned to the menu and asked for cheese on toast and was again. Lambasted.“That is the lunch menu, it isn’t lunch time, we are serving breakfast” Oh I’m sorry I replied, I’ve been up a while, I’ve eaten breakfast. I returned to the menu again. I could have eggs and toast but I don’t want to order anything now because you are so damn Rude! I left. But honesty I get that you are a small cafe and you have a system in place. I get that you work hard to offer different items in a timely manner. But I’ve never been in your cafe before, I didn’t know the rules. They weren’t clear enough as all the items are on the SAME menu. Which if you recall confused yourself. Then Followed a lesson in brunch and lunch difference. You are a very rude lady to be in hospitality. So a little patience and politeness even if you have to do it 50 times a day it would have put at least £12 in your til. I’d have had a coffee and whatever else was on offer if you hadn’t been so damn rude. I notice you replied to another negative review that such reviews can ruin a small business. I concur but you are very capable of doing that yourself by relying on only new tourist business and not repeat. That too ruins small business. Also your young, polite male assistant looked terrified of you. It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.

Went for lunch on the first day of our break in Keswick, delightful place with nice seating and some seating outside on good days. Menu was varied, we both fancied the Cumberland sausage in chutney, I had the soup with mine, sweet potato, cauliflower and chick pea, really tasty. Enjoyed the whole meal, the chutney had a really sweet taste which complimented the sausage and the bread was lovely and fresh . I would highly recommend a visit to this cafe, all the staff were friendly and efficient.

Ordered the doorstop cheese on toast and it was wonderful! The nicest I’ve had. And the mocha is really good too.

Chamonix is small, but perfectly formed in our opinion. I have no problem sharing a table or being close to other people. It's def a good vibe.

Stopped in for a spot of lunch, good choices on the menu, chose the Cumberland sausage sandwich which came with a tasty little side salad and crisps. The bread was lovely and soft and the sausage cooked perfectly, didn't have to wrestle the sausage in the bread to take a bite, thoroughly enjoyed it. The others had the cheese on toast with garlicky mushrooms ad would also recommend.

We were so delighted with our whole experience here. We set off early from Oxford to get to Keswick, hoping to have one of the amazing breakfasts we'd seen advertised on Instagram. Locally sourced food of high quality, freshly cooked, well priced = very happy family. They were even nice enough to reserve us a table to ensure we didn't have to wait after our epic drive! Thoroughly recommend as the nicest cafè in Keswick!

I have been about a dozen times since this cafe opened. Very friendly and a nice atmosphere. However, I do not think I will go again. To be blunt on my last two visits I've felt ripped off by the price of their cakes. Today I had the tiniest square of Lemon Drizzle cake for which I was charged £3.00. If it had been twice the size I would probably have thought it a bit pricey but ok.

I visited Oilys with family and just after the meals were served my brother had taken ill. One member of staff in particular was so helpful and attentive. Part way through the meal we had to leave to take my brother home and the same lady offered to box up all our meals for us as we had only started. Excellent service. The meals were delicious and it is just a shame we had to leave early. Luckily my brother is okay and we will have to go back sometime for a better experience.

Lovely afternoon tea, highly recommended. Atmosphere was so friendly too. Well worth a visit for one of their cups of tea, a secret blend that is delicious.

Thought we would give this place a try as we saw it when coming back from Lodore Falls a few weeks ago and thought location was good. Booked Sunday lunch for 2 adults and 2 teenagers as a pre-Christmas family lunch out. On arrival no one greeted us and we waited in line at the bar to be told, not shown to, which one our table was and to come back to the bar to order. This is fine but at hotel restaurant I would expect staff to come and take our order - main course Sunday lunch £24.95, burgers the kids had £21.95 so not cheap. Inn on the Lake Glenridding for example is less expensive and far superior in location, class, service and food quality. I ordered roast beef and when it arrived I actually got lamb - no problem mistakes happen - but it did mean i had to wait for it to be replaced whilst the rest of my family ate their meals. When beef arrived it was dried out, as if heated under a grill. No one checked on us during the meal but asked if everything was ok when they came to clear. I told them my beef wasn't great - half of it uneaten - and they said i should have told them and they would have replaced. Fine, but bearing in mind i had already waited for it to be replaced once and eaten after others had finished i didn't really want to go for round 3. My meal was removed from the bill but the experience for a family lunch out was spoilt. We were in the restaurant area that doesn't allow dogs but close to the open doors to the dog friendly area - I love dogs but the smell coming through wasn't pleasant from time to time, especially when eating. Generally i think it is expensive and disappointing for what it is, pub type service and food at restaurant prices. £9.50 for puddings for example is excessive for the environment. A shame as location is great to stop for lunch if walking around Derwentwater but I wouldn't recommend based on pour experience today. As a final comment the staff did seem genuinely apologetic.

We head to Caldbeck couple times of the year to do the Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas Elf Hunt with our daughter. We always head to The Oddfellows Arms for lunch once we've finished the hunts for lunch and never fails to deliver. I had the all day breakfast and is as good as you'll get. See you at Easter...
