Only had coffee and cake which was lovely,staff very pleasant and kids enjoyed the toy kitchen.will definitely go again

The best place for a meal in Cockermouth. Quality, tasty, fresh, homemade, good selection, and such good value. The milkshakes are delicious. The coffee and hot chocolate could be better. The staff are polite and attentive and the cook is skilled and efficient. My dog is allowed inside. Love Lanes café.

Delicious poached eggs on toast, as ever. I got a few takeaway cakes as well. Lovely, attentive staff. It's in a nice setting - away from the busy streets! I'm a regular, but I strongly recommended a visit to anyone. 😊

Found this place by sheer dumb luck and what a surprise it was. From the moment you enter the staff are friendly and welcoming. The place was spotless and homely. I ordered the mega breakfast, chips and black coffee. The food was cooked to perfection and of a really good quality. The portions were way bigger than I imagined ( see photo ) cannot fault any part of the dining experience. Found by accident but will be visiting regularly from now on. Highly recommend a visit or 3

Coffees and cakes are very tasty, but if you arrive around twenty minutes before they close, your presence is not appreciated! Staff seem too focused on preparing to go home. We live locally and have noticed this on a few visits. Today there were ten people who arrived during this period and all were met with negative responses and left without being served. My experience was less than pleasing, when I asked what flavour lattes they had I was told to look at the bottles behind the counter, one of which was not visible. She seemed uninterested and quite rude. It’s a shame as the place has real potential and with more attentive staff it would be a go to venue.

Stale cake and only average coffee. Our last visit was slightly better. Strangely on that visit it was cash only, now cash not accepted. Only the banks will be happy when we become a cashless society!

We absolutely loved this place, we wanted poached eggs but came too late, only wanted a light snack as going out for an evening meal, how lovely to share a brie and cranberry sandwich with crisps and salad, soooo tasty. Had a black coffee and mam had tea for one so lovely, helpful staff, very accommodating and the toilet was a disabled one so my 91 year old mam was over the moon! Weve been before but we will definitely be returning, it had alot to choose from and nice prices ! Dog friendly too

Had a lovely and very filling pensioners breakfast here.huge sausage,two rashers of bacon,egg and baked beans along with toast..and a cup of tea.all for £5.95..i added mushrooms for a pound.well worth the price..nice cafe and lovely staff

This was such a hidden gem. Tucked away down the Kings lane, once devastatingly flooded as shown on the lane wall. I only spotted it because of the bright open sign. Very welcoming staff, they were lovely to my dog. Recommended items and the food was so brilliant, it's not what you expect from a little cafe, it's above and beyond anything I've ever had in the Lake District. If you've never been to Cockermouth, it's a lovely little town, but 100% worth to go solely for this cafe. Prices are also brilliant, they could charge double for their food and I'd still recommend it

It is with a heavy heart that I am leaving the Lanes a 5* review, as the more we all rave about this fantastic little cafe, the less chance we have of getting a table! We are not what you could call regulars, but if we are ever having breakfast out in town, this is where we go! The food is freshly cooked, excellent quality and plentiful, nowhere in Cumbria does a better full English! The team working here are amazing too, friendly, happy and a pleasure to be served by. The cakes at the till when you are paying are like an evil temptress luring you in, even though we always have full bellies, just a little something to have with a cuppa in the afternoon is purchased! The cakes by the way are superb! Keep up the good work

Always enjoy visiting the Lanes cafe. The staff are always helpful & friendly & the food is always freshly cooked. My favourite is the chocolate cake which is the best I've ever tasted so I usually treat myself to a takeaway piece too.

Tasty home cooked food and very reasonably priced. We went in with a dog and a 2 year old and both were well catered for. Lovely staff who gave treats to the dog, and a good child's portion of soup and sandwich for the little one. It's hidden away but I'm glad we found it!

Lovely friendly staff and the most gorgeous chocolate cake. Melt in the mouth sponge and "death by chocolate" sugary icing. Everyone of their cakes look like heaven on a plate. Think I was in a food coma after gulping down the hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows and Maltesers straight after. Still covid safe, hand Sanitiser at the door and the ladies clean down each table after every customer.

Small cafe tucked away, not very nice coffee and needs a bit of a makeover - very cheap, dated furniture that is poor quality. Chairs literally broke under customers while we were there, with no apology from staff. Food looked nice but did not want to stay there long enough to try - wouldn’t choose this over another cafe in Cockermouth. Also no milk alternative options

We arrived at 11.30 and took a table. Eventually the waitress arrived with menus and walked off. We sat there for some considerable time waiting for our order to be taken. Eventually I had to go up to the counter to order coffees and a tea cake. She was very unfriendly to say the least. Other customers arrived and the waitress came over to them and took their orders at the table which was annoying as we got the impression they did not want to serve us. Again we waited to be served. The coffees arrived but no tea cake. Meals were delivered to customers that arrived after us and even though we reminded the waitress of our order it still had not arrived. We decided to leave at which point a very burnt tea cake arrived. We decided to take it with us but it was burnt so ended up in the refuse bin. Overall, very unfriendly and poor service. Would not go again.

We ordered two of the Christmas wraps from the Lanes on Facebook the night before and they were ready for us to collect at the time we requested. SO much food and packed full with fresh turkey meat. I think they were £8.95 each and really reasonable for what you got. I couldn't fit it all on my plate so glad I took a photograph of it beforehand. There is loads of other takeaway food available just visit their Facebook page.

We arrived with our noisy pup and were made very welcome we ate outside as it was a nice day. The service was friendly and excellent. We had lovely home made scones and hot drinks just what we needed after a long walk. Really nice staff with a homely feel to the cafe. Support your local businesses

Amable bien organizado (restricciones COVID). Mesas bien espaciadas. La elección de la comida fue excelente, el servicio excelente, la calidad de la comida y la presentación excelente. Esta fue la mejor y más sabrosa baguette que he tenido, servida con una buena porción de ensalada fresca. Mi esposa tenía una deliciosa papa de chaqueta.

Mi pareja y yo pasamos por aquí el 11 de septiembre para comer algo y salir de la lluvia.Café estaba lleno, pero nos sentamos rápidamente y el personal fue servicial y conversador y explicó las ofertas especiales y qué alimentos no están disponibles en el día.Pedimos una baguette de pollo de Hunter y una tostada de tocino, brie y arándanos. . ambos estaban deliciosos, el tocino estaba cortado grueso y muy sabroso.Mi compañero también tenía un bollo de frutas que disfrutó. En general, un lugar encantador para comer y volveremos

Vinimos a tomar un café bajo la lluvia el sábado 22 de agosto, alrededor de las 11:30 am. Nos recibieron con un feliz "hola" y nos colocaron en una mesa. No había otras mesas libres disponibles, lo que siempre considero una buena señal. Después de unos minutos, una camarera se acercó a nosotros con menús y nos preguntó si queríamos algo de beber. Dijimos que solo buscábamos cafés (dos con leche y un americano), a lo que su actitud cambió inmediatamente y garabateó el pedido. Luego tomó los menús de la mesa y comenzó a mirar alrededor del café, sin ningún interés en nosotros como clientes. El tiempo pasó y algunas otras mesas estuvieron disponibles y se volvieron a llenar con los clientes. Al menos veinte minutos después, todavía no teníamos nuestros cafés. Luego, la madre de mi pareja fue al baño y descubrió que se habían apilado varias mesas y sillas como si fuera un área de almacenamiento. El secador de manos estaba bloqueado y, considerando que era un inodoro para discapacitados, ciertamente no habría lugar para una silla de ruedas. Entiendo el distanciamiento social en este momento con la pandemia actual, sin embargo, un inodoro no es un lugar para guardar mesas y sillas.Pasaron otros 5 minutos sin bebidas (25 minutos en total), y luego una mesa que entró unos quince minutos después de que recibiéramos sus cafés, nos fuimos. Le dijimos al miembro del personal que estaba detrás del mostrador que cancelara los cafés, a lo que recibimos una respuesta de "no te molestes", como si le estuviéramos haciendo un favor al irnos.Se sintió como si no estuviéramos pidiendo comida, no se consideró que necesitáramos un buen servicio. ¡Un desayuno tan grande considerando que solo pedí el desayuno mediano! ! Todo estaba perfectamente preparado y venía con una tostada. ¡Estaba lleno hasta la cena! ! ! Muy buena relación calidad-precio.Uno de mis cafés favoritos y estoy muy feliz de llevar a mis amigos y familiares allí.

Called here for lunch hand sanitizers outside food came on take away trays and take out cups, food good and plenty of it will return if in area again

First day after lockdown we popped by for a quick lunch. Really nice to see the business reopened and following all the social distancing guidelines etc. We usually have jacket potatos but opted for sandwiches and cakes and it was lovely. It is somewhere I would go with friends but could also take grandparents as there is alot on the menu but all good simple food cooked well.
