We expected to eat the best fish and chips in the area however it turned out to be average. The building was ok not a wow factor you will find all kinds of vegetables in bags sitting on the floor at the bottom of the stairs and at the entrance of toilets. Not the best and welcoming picture.

This place is a disgrace. Asked for a certain beer and because it run off they couldn't be bothered to change the barrel. Felt uncomfortable as soon as I walked in and then ordered some food and I must say it wasn't a steak or anything but just tuna mayo sandwiches and chips. Food arrived and it certainly wasn't fresh but when I complained about it I was told it was but I would not have fed it to my dog. As I say I complained and was told it was fresh out but considering they wanted to close the kitchen I highly doubt that. Absolutely disgrace and I would certainly never return! Unwelcome from start and felt uncomfortable until I left. Maybe it's because I'm from Liverpool but if not I feel sorry for the locals.... Disgusting food and disgraceful respect for my custom. Would rather have gone to Carnforth truck stop or Penrith where you are treated as a customer and not another number that's a pain in the *** Never again and I don't know about the hot food but if they can't serve a fresh tuna mayo sandwich then I certainly would not want something warm like the fish and chips soaked in grease 🤮

Called in for a drink whilst we were having a walk around Maryport. The staff were very friendly and we decided to stay for an early evening meal. We were not disappointed. The menu offered a good selection and the two specials appealed to us as well. the four of us opted for different meals and all of us were satisfied by our choices. The homemade meat and potato pie was excellent. The sirloin steak was well cooked and very tasty. We can only say the same about the Gammon Steak and the Southern Fried Chicken Burger. The food was served very quickly, piping hot and very good portions and very well presented. The pub also offers a good selection of beers and spirits. Well worth a visit if you are in this area.

Our recent visit to The Lifeboat Inn in Maryport was nothing short of fantastic. Nestled in the heart of this charming coastal town, the inn offers a perfect blend of great food, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere. We all opted for the scampi and chips, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The portions were generous, ensuring we left fully satisfied. The scampi was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, complemented by golden, fluffy chips that were simply delicious. The pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food and the generous portion sizes. It’s clear that The Lifeboat Inn takes pride in offering value for money without compromising on quality. What truly sets The Lifeboat Inn apart is its amazing atmosphere. The warm, friendly staff made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The décor is charming and nautical-themed, creating a cozy, inviting environment that’s perfect for a meal with family or friends. Overall, The Lifeboat Inn in Maryport is a must-visit. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping by for their scampi and chips – you won’t be disappointed!

We popped in for Sunday Lunch. The Sunday Lunch was a carvery. The food was absolutely excellent. Can not fault the food what so ever. Very busy so lots of people agree. The only reason for dropping a star is to do with taking your dog. The pub gets busy and has limited space. I would not recommend taking a large dog inside and also dogs are not allowed to go upstairs where the food is being served. So you need to stay downstairs where one needs to stay with the dog while the other goes upstairs to be served with the food. I would leave the dog at home to enjoy your meal here. It does state dog friendly. I would go again I can’t stress enough how great the food is.
