Holidaying locally and after a bit of research decided we’d pop in for Sunday lunch. Carvery was amazing, 3 big, thick slices of meat with lots of fresh veg! Also the option to add pie, sausages and chicken in gravy. 5 types of potatoes and a great selection of veggies. Atmosphere was great too, staff very friendly. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Service staff was courteous and helpful when we asked about desserts. Food portions are large by Asian standards. Waiting staff automatically placed order for the more expensive cod fish and chip without asking us which one when we asked for fish and chips. Luckily the price difference is only 1.50£. But it’s ok as food was fresh and tasty.

We popped in for Sunday Lunch. The Sunday Lunch was a carvery. The food was absolutely excellent. Can not fault the food what so ever. Very busy so lots of people agree. The only reason for dropping a star is to do with taking your dog. The pub gets busy and has limited space. I would not recommend taking a large dog inside and also dogs are not allowed to go upstairs where the food is being served. So you need to stay downstairs where one needs to stay with the dog while the other goes upstairs to be served with the food. I would leave the dog at home to enjoy your meal here. It does state dog friendly. I would go again I can’t stress enough how great the food is.

Popped in here for a pint before visiting the aquarium and thought the place was good so after the aquarium we went back in and tried to get some food to be told the kitchen was closed (we did not realise how long we had been in the aquarium). Got a pint anyway and sat outside contemplating getting a Greggs instead when the blond lady behind the bar came out and said although the kitchen had closed she had checked and they could still do us a sandwich and chips so we said yes please! Tuna mayo sandwich and proper cooked chips were lovely so thank you for going the extra mile!

We were staying in nearby Allonby and we're recommended here to eat so off we went. When we arrived it seemed very busy outside, it was a lovely night, as we entered it was full inside but we saw a sign directing us to seats upstairs, and there were plenty, we chose a take and the boys went to order drinks and get menus. The waitress came and took our orders and when the food arrived we were not disappointed, all home made and piping hot and the portions were huge. Well with the money and drinks were reasonably priced, the staff were lovely and friendly and the service was spot on. We'll definitely be back and will definitely recommend.

Its a big fat NO from !! Avoid if you are a tourist ! Located near the Maryport harbour I thought it would be a perfect spot to stop for a dinner and cold beer after exploring this beautiful town. I was really fancying local fish and Chips I looked up the Google reviews for this pub and all looked promising and sounded inviting. From the outside the building looked very pretty and welcoming with big sign outside for Fish and Chips served here. I need to add that there was 9 of us, proffesional group of multicultural friends with two children having a holiday in beautiful Maryport. The place was very busy inside with only one person serving and she looked very stressed out Firstly there wasn't big enough seating area for all of us so we joint the 3 tables together. Tables was very wonky and we had very uncomfortable chairs and we was often bump into while seating by people trying to get to the bar (as not enough space between the tables by the bar ) We all decided to order Fish and chips as those was advertised at the front of the pub and we seen people around us in the pub eating them. At the bar the woman who was serving informed us that they stopped serving the Fish and Chips as they run out. She didn't offer any alternative dish or given us any recommendation. I'd like to point out that they was still falsely advertising at this point in front of the pub that they are serving the Fish and Chips. As we was tired after walking we decided just to stay and order different dishes of the menu. I had the roast dinner which wad okay, good portion, plenty of meat byt sadly the only veggies was carrots and peas that tasted and looked like they been cooking for a week. As we was about to leave approx 20 minutes later I looked over and there was at list 4 tables with people eating fish and chips !!! I couldn't believe my eyes so I went over to the bar and I asked the woman that I thought they didn't serve fish and chips today she answer yes sorry we didn't but now we are as we got some more in! Seriously ?! What kind of place is that?! We spend over £150 between us in space of a 30 minutes on food and drinks to be treated like that. The woman working there made me feel like its a local pub for only local people. I don't know if she had a bad day or what but she needs to learn some customer skills. Sadly that was disappointing expierience and a place that I wouldn't recommend for outsider's * to dine in. I Definitely didn't feel comfortable or welcomed here. I'd like to add that I absolutely love Maryport and would recommend that you visit this beautiful town and locals are very friendly and welcoming sadly can't say this about this pub.

Phoned in to see if we could order a delivery, but was told they don’t offer that anymore. I asked if I could order a takeaway meal to be collected instead, and was told that wasn’t something they did either, despite their Facebook page saying otherwise. Was then cut off before being able to say anything else. I understand restaurants get busy, but give your potential customers a chance to speak, at least! A shame, as the food looks great online.

We both ordered Fish, chips and mushy peas which to tell you the truth was the best I’ve had in a long time, did ask if the fish was caught locally to which I was answered “it wasn’t”. The only down side was the food was limited due to a broken grill (nobody’s fault) but at £13.95 I would have expected locally caught fish……… a nice find!
