Thought we would give this place a try as we saw it when coming back from Lodore Falls a few weeks ago and thought location was good. Booked Sunday lunch for 2 adults and 2 teenagers as a pre-Christmas family lunch out. On arrival no one greeted us and we waited in line at the bar to be told, not shown to, which one our table was and to come back to the bar to order. This is fine but at hotel restaurant I would expect staff to come and take our order - main course Sunday lunch £24.95, burgers the kids had £21.95 so not cheap. Inn on the Lake Glenridding for example is less expensive and far superior in location, class, service and food quality. I ordered roast beef and when it arrived I actually got lamb - no problem mistakes happen - but it did mean i had to wait for it to be replaced whilst the rest of my family ate their meals. When beef arrived it was dried out, as if heated under a grill. No one checked on us during the meal but asked if everything was ok when they came to clear. I told them my beef wasn't great - half of it uneaten - and they said i should have told them and they would have replaced. Fine, but bearing in mind i had already waited for it to be replaced once and eaten after others had finished i didn't really want to go for round 3. My meal was removed from the bill but the experience for a family lunch out was spoilt. We were in the restaurant area that doesn't allow dogs but close to the open doors to the dog friendly area - I love dogs but the smell coming through wasn't pleasant from time to time, especially when eating. Generally i think it is expensive and disappointing for what it is, pub type service and food at restaurant prices. £9.50 for puddings for example is excessive for the environment. A shame as location is great to stop for lunch if walking around Derwentwater but I wouldn't recommend based on pour experience today. As a final comment the staff did seem genuinely apologetic.

Very nice hotel in a fantastic location, i popped in for lunch today with my partner. Whilst the food was very good, and yes, it was a “proper” pie with a bottom and top in shortcrust, the level of housekeeping and service are very poor. We sat by the window, lovely view, but there were cobwebs everywhere and dust covered the chair runners and skirting boards. The one member of staff, who was very pleasant gave no check back to ask if our food was ok. When we had finished, she took the plates, but didn’t ask if we wanted dessert or coffee, which we were thinking of having, and just shrugged her shoulders when we pointed out the poor housekeeping. Lovely hotel, in a stunning location, let down by the basics.

Perfect stop for a coffee break - the view over the lake with bird feeders in front was great. The chairs in the lounge were very comfortable - best decaf coffee I have had. Looked at the menu and it was a shame that only a coffee stop. Did have a taste of the local beers!!

Visited here around 8pm on a Saturday night. Rang ahead and thankfully they had a table. Staff are lovely and friendly. Menu has GF clearly labelled. Staff were reassuring regarding cross contamination. We both had the pan fried supreme of chicken - Greek style (GF) and it was delicious!! It was worth every penny (£23.95) we have eaten here a few times over the past couple of years and it never disappoints. It’s a short drive from the centre of Keswick but well worth it. Lovely food, good staff and a lovely place with amazing views over derwent water. Very happy with the provision of gluten free food safe for coeliacs.

Found this based on ‘best Sunday lunch’ research online. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite pricey £25, but very tasty. Particularly loved the lamb, the gravy, carrot and suite mash, cauliflower cheese and red cabbage. Nice views and lovely atmosphere. Only thing that could have made it better was the roast potatoes and parsnip were a little anaemic, but otherwise AMAZING. Would also go and stay there next time when visiting the area.

We went there for lunch. Had a few bites of my risotto and discovered that there was a bit of baking paper underneath my food. After all that, I didn’t want anything else from there. Apparently, after the complaint, they fired the chef who was there for a week until this incident. I still don’t recommend visiting this place to eat.

Where do I start with how lovely and quaint this place is We visited here due to its reviews of how dog friendly this place is And it most definitely did not disappoint The rooms are not small and the bathrooms perfectly clean Great amenities in there (Au lait products) Also a heated towel tail that you can still use in the summer which was great with the wet socks and boots. The sheets were white but the mattress a little lumpy also it was one of those beds that you can really feel when someone else gets in and out the bed. Plenty of towels (luckily we brought our own for the pups) Plenty of car parking spaces Great venue right on the lake Plenty of fab walking spots right from the hotel The evening food is fabulous The breakfast even better They even bring out a sausage for the pups.

Excellent stay in newly renovated rooms in the annex, the staff very friendly and the location is brilliant where you can park the car and simply enjoy walking. A number of Wainwright's walks can be completed straight from the hotel and the hotel has direct access to its own launch stop for trips around the lake.

We love this place. Whenever we stay in Keswick we catch the launch to Lodore just to eat here! Arrived a bit early for lunch so sat outside, in the sunshine, on the 'top deck' having a coffee just enjoying the views. Ordered our food at the bar after 12 and it came out quite quickly. Beautifully cooked and very tasty. Large portions too. We both had the ciabatta but with different fillings. Lovely friendly staff. Can't fault it here, other than it is a bit pricey, but it's an hotel and we knew what to expect. Will definitely be back when we head up to the Lakes from our home in Cornwall again.

Ate here last week for a family birthday; party of 6. Didn’t even know it was there and have driven that road 100’s of times. Was a drab dreary windy day, but got a warm reception to brighten it up. The outside space would be fantastic on a nice day. Nice views, etc. All the food looked amazing. Nice portions for a decent price. I had steak pie. It looked immense when it arrived by the steak was a little grey and tough, which was disappointing. Everything else tasted good and everyone else was positive about their meals (scampi, veggie roast, ciabatta, lamb). The Yorkshire puddings were immense! Good selection of beers/ale/cider. If my steak pie had been better this would have been a 5-star review, but it tasted average and didn’t seem to match everyone else’s food/live up to how good it looked. Would go back and have a Sunday roast. Ciabattas looked really good too.

Great views. Decent beer. Fairly pricey. Food was fine, turkey was tender & cooked well, veg weren’t overcooked & plenty of gravy. It could have been hotter (temp) & could have been presented more appetisingly - it appeared to be randomly piled on the plate with a huge Yorkshire pudding plonked on top. Not very appealing. Service was fine but table service would make it a better experience.

We stayed at this hotel for a week the location in the Borrowdale valley was lovely we were just a short walk from a landing stage where you could catch the boat to Keswick. The breakfast in the morning was excellent with plenty of choice. the dinner of the evening was good to very good maybe we could have had more dishes without chips! The staff were excellent and friendly. Our room was lovely with good views of the valley. Hotel was nice and clean. The only thing I found strange was to be asked to pay in advance for the accommodation something which has never been requested of me in the past 50 years of travelling against my better judgement I paid and everything was okay but I don't think I would do that in the futture.

We visited in December for a family Christmas meal. It was a bittersweet day as it would be my father’s last Christmas so we wanted everything to be perfect. Mary Mount staff did not know this and our get together was a normal family gathering. The Christmas meal was fantastic. We had ordered in advance and everything came as expected and more. The prawn cocktail was a small luncheon in itself. When the turkey Christmas dinner arrived it looked and tasted fabulous. We have good appetite’s but no one finished and puddings were never a consideration. The staff were friendly and efficient but left you to enjoy your meal unhindered. Little touches like extra gravy jugs and individual cranberry sauce pots were lovely. The views are great and the numerous birds that are fed in the garden were delightful to watch. A set meal of 3 courses for £30 was great value. Thank you for a lovely day , couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Called in for a beer and a sandwich after walking across Walla Crag. Just what the doctor ordered. Great beer and sandwich, ham on thick crusty bread with crisps and salad.

Hotel about 15 minutes from Keswick along a narrow road following the Derwentwater. Stayed two nights upstairs in the new addition which had a great view of the lake. Parking a squeeze when Hotel is full. On site restaurant was pretty good and breakfast was quick and friendly. An afternoon drink was enjoyable. Took the Launch to Keswick which was very pleasant. Explored the Lodore Falls not far from the Hotel across the road. A very pleasant stay.

Lovely dinner, and breakfast, which was a bit cold. Not enough staff on for breakfast, we should have sent the breakfast back but by the time anyone came for my husbands plate, it was stone cold anyway.

Firstly, the booking process for the restaurant was a little odd. When booking, we booked for the date and number of people, however the gentleman didn't ask for a time, when I asked him if he wanted to know what time we were wanting to have our table he said "if you like" However, when we arrived, we realised we were the only people who had booked a table. It seemed they heavily rely on people who are staying at the hotel.

Stopped for lunch after a walk along Derwenter and were warmly received. Beautiful views across the lake and the hills. The first day we had steak and risotto with mushrooms. Started off with crispy duck spring rolls. Excellent service and superbly cooked food topped off with sticky toffee pudding and local ice cream. Second lunch had the same steak again excellent. Our second dish on day two was a gammon steak, which probably should have been sent back, tough and chewy, but flavorful.

My first visit to the Lake District and this place was recommended for food. Ended up having lunch here twice as the food was so nice. Had toasted ciabatta with Brie and local chutney, chips and salad both times. Sat outside with the dog as the weather was warm with lovely views over Derwent Water. Would happily return here for food.

I visited Oilys with family and just after the meals were served my brother had taken ill. One member of staff in particular was so helpful and attentive. Part way through the meal we had to leave to take my brother home and the same lady offered to box up all our meals for us as we had only started. Excellent service. The meals were delicious and it is just a shame we had to leave early. Luckily my brother is okay and we will have to go back sometime for a better experience.

The best dog friendly cafe in the lakes. Gorgeous food and the warmest welcome. This is our go to place when walking in the north lakes. All of the food always hits the spot but the cakes are just gorgeous!

We head to Caldbeck couple times of the year to do the Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas Elf Hunt with our daughter. We always head to The Oddfellows Arms for lunch once we've finished the hunts for lunch and never fails to deliver. I had the all day breakfast and is as good as you'll get. See you at Easter...
