Delicious home baking with local produce and perfectly situated for enjoying views of beautiful Borrowdale. We enjoyed carrot and coriander soup with toasted cheese and chive scones - highly recommended!

After reading previous reviews, couldn't wait to experience this place. After a long walk, stopped for a cup of tea. 2 teas - £6. Quite surprised at the cost to be honest.

Last time I tried to visit here, it was November 2023 and out of season, so I made sure I visited again. After a hike on the fells, this was a great place to stop for a refuel. They have a variety of hearty home made food, but I went for the warmed fruit scone with clotted cream and jam, perfect! They also make a good mug of tea, served in half or full pints, depending on your thirst level. I sat inside due to the poor weather, the decor is quite simple but clean and efficienty kept.

Lovely tearoom that we came across today. Really friendly couple run this place . An ideal place to stop on the path from Rosthwaite to Grange. Delicious caramel shortbread and great coffee too. We sat in the sun on the benches outside and watched the world go by.

Lovely little tea room in Rosthwaite with a cracking view over the Borrowdale valley. Food is great - can recommend the cheese and chive scones - and the welcome is warm. The garden area is pretty too. So many walks in and around the valley make this an essential part of the planning! You can park in the National Trust car park 50 yards down the lane (but have plenty of coins with you if you’re not a member…).

I booked a table for four to celebrate our good friends Ruby Wedding. I pre ordered bread, olives, glasses of Prosecco to have while we looked at the menu. On arrival I gave my name in and the lovely lady took us into the lounge where everything was brought to us. The bread, oil, hummus and olives were excellent. We choose our starters and mains. Three of us had scallops and for mains us ladies had fillet steaks and the lads had herb crusted cod and the bestro salmon. The food was excellent scallops were very tasty, our steak were cooked perfectly and the lads totally enjoyed there meals. We finished off with coffee for the lads and expresso martinis. I must say this is a beautiful restaurant. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help. The reception team are also brilliant they emailed me to check what I wanted for our arrival. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to everyone. It’s nice to have such a good restaurant near to where we live. I noticed people complaining about cost, my view is if the food is this good it’s worth the money. Thank you Melbreak for a lovely evening of celebration.

In the middle of a house move so we ordered a takeaway Sunday lunch each for everyone. It was fantastic - generous portions and delicious home-cooked food. The staff were really friendly when I went to collect. We live locally and would definitely recommend.

The best dog friendly cafe in the lakes. Gorgeous food and the warmest welcome. This is our go to place when walking in the north lakes. All of the food always hits the spot but the cakes are just gorgeous!

We called in for food as we were located close by. It's got many awards and justifiably so. The staff are incredibly attentive, accomodating, professional and personable. The food in all departments, quality, variety, portion sizes, waiting time is a cut above the rest. We returned the following evening having intended to move to another venue later on but decided to stay as the atmosphere was great... we experienced the same 5 star quality again and would like to give our thsnks to the crew of the 'Oddfellows' for a superior pub experience🙏🏻

Thought we would give this place a try as we saw it when coming back from Lodore Falls a few weeks ago and thought location was good. Booked Sunday lunch for 2 adults and 2 teenagers as a pre-Christmas family lunch out. On arrival no one greeted us and we waited in line at the bar to be told, not shown to, which one our table was and to come back to the bar to order. This is fine but at hotel restaurant I would expect staff to come and take our order - main course Sunday lunch £24.95, burgers the kids had £21.95 so not cheap. Inn on the Lake Glenridding for example is less expensive and far superior in location, class, service and food quality. I ordered roast beef and when it arrived I actually got lamb - no problem mistakes happen - but it did mean i had to wait for it to be replaced whilst the rest of my family ate their meals. When beef arrived it was dried out, as if heated under a grill. No one checked on us during the meal but asked if everything was ok when they came to clear. I told them my beef wasn't great - half of it uneaten - and they said i should have told them and they would have replaced. Fine, but bearing in mind i had already waited for it to be replaced once and eaten after others had finished i didn't really want to go for round 3. My meal was removed from the bill but the experience for a family lunch out was spoilt. We were in the restaurant area that doesn't allow dogs but close to the open doors to the dog friendly area - I love dogs but the smell coming through wasn't pleasant from time to time, especially when eating. Generally i think it is expensive and disappointing for what it is, pub type service and food at restaurant prices. £9.50 for puddings for example is excessive for the environment. A shame as location is great to stop for lunch if walking around Derwentwater but I wouldn't recommend based on pour experience today. As a final comment the staff did seem genuinely apologetic.
