The best restaurants serving British food in Keswick Allerdale North West

We tried three times over the weekend to get a table here so when we got one we expected great things of this pub but were very disappointed indeed, we ordered scampi & chips and chicken and ham pie & chips and it was to be honest pathetic five scampi and some frozen chips with a spoon of peas, pie was I'm guessing bought in and was mainly pastry, again frozen chips and a sprig of broccoli....I didn't see anything hearty or appetising on either plate. Sadly won't be back 😕

Dog friendly . Beautiful setting. Definitely need to book ahead . Food is pub fare . We chose from the specials menu which was probably a mistake . Starter was lovely , king prawns in garlic butter with a squeeze of lime . Main was Thai crispy beef in sweet chilli . It was what it said on the tin , but I think expected some nice fresh veg included . It was just beef in a very spicy sweet chilli sauce with wild rice . Too hot for us and just tasted like a jarred sweet chilli sauce , not what we expected . However beer & wine were very good and very friendly staff . Lots of collies in that evening . Other food being served ( pies , burgers etc ) looked very good so maybe just a bad choice .

I moved from a low power charger to a high power one, there are only two, and didn't appreciate that I was supposed to pay a parking fee for the hour and ten minutes. The notices are small and not in helpful places . I received a PCN and lost the appeal. £60 charge. I see from MANY reviews that Booths trot out a standard response to all complaints. They don't give a fig. We like their store but as a result of this they have lost a customer, permanently. Pity.

Bought 2 pasties yesterday absolutley delicious.steak and ale and an original one .full of filling lots of taste .canr wait to return soon.lovely lady served me very polite and friendly !!!

only one serving at lunch time, queuing out the door. Over 30 minutes to get a slice of pizza that was cold and was charged 3.80 for pizza and drink when sign said 3.35. Very bad, never again

Super fast and friendly service, very dog friendly and literally the best pizza I’ve ever had (and I’m a pizza lover) cannot recommend this place higher 😍

Stopped by chance during a circular walk. Good service and made to feel very welcome. The tea and coffee was appreciated as were the spotless WC! Will call again.

Popped in at 5pm on a Friday. Was already busy and managed to grab one of the last tables. Cumberland sausage and mash, pie and chips and a couple of pints hit the spot.

Our second visit this holiday.The food is amazing and so is the service. Hot dog was fantastic full off flavour. Veg burger was amazing. Definitely have it again . Southern fried burger was lovely . We will definitely be back

Took us 30 years of coming to Keswick to find this pub as its a little bit out of the centre. That said went there again for the second time, had the lamb Henry and fish pie again despite there being a great menu we just loved it so much last time here. If you like like old style pubs with a great atmosphere, fantastic friendly staff and superb food this place is worth the 10 minute walk from the town centre. We will definitely be back!

Fish was cooked fresh, batter was lovely and crispy, couldn't fault it! We ate in, the tables were clean and it was nice to get in out of the elements. The free to play retro arcade machine at the back of the shop was pretty cool!

Just a coffee but the food looks good. Nice spacious spot with a lake view

Recently refurbished, I'm told but not lost it's character. Managed to get a seat and enjoyed conversation with fellow customers.

We went as a family of 4 adults. We found the food excellent, I would recommend the fish pie, it was amazing. The atmosphere was typical high end country pub with roaring fire. We found the staff very welcoming and helpful having a desire to ensure we enjoyed our visit and food. Thank you

Just amazing, we stopped just by chance as needed somewhere dog friendly, had no expectations but it turned out to be fabulous. Warm welcome, food came out quickly and was delicious. Plus fantastic value for money. Just excellent 👌
