The beer choice was excellent although my wife was disappointed with the wine choice (she had the malbec). You have to take pot luck on getting a table and we had to wait about 20 minutes for one to come free. We nearly lost it to a pair of old ladies who had only just come in but we were ruthless. We had hoped to try the goulash but that had sold out whilst we were waiting - (we arrived just before 6pm - so get there early) and so we had the steak and ale pie instead. Not a mistake, it was delicious. Tables are very close together so being sociable is a must - we got chatting to a lovely couple from Norwich. For me the quality of the food and beer more than compensates for the wait. The staff were neither friendly or unfriendly - just too busy to spare any time I think.

An amazing room with a beautiful view of the mountains, very clean Pauline did a fantastic job with the cleaning. The room was very big and enough room as we took our Labrador retriever so plenty of space. The food was beautiful and the bar was amazing, very friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere and very homely. We walked to Keswick and back in about 45 mins great walking distance. Thanks to the staff Leo, Becca and Dudley for making our stay perfect.

We stopped in for lunch…. This place must just get by with tourists as I certainly wouldn’t be making a habit of going here as a local! On arrival there was plenty tables as it is a big space, however none of them were clean! It does seem to be self clear but no one bothers and the table we sat at had sugar crumbs all over it as well as a used tissue and an open sauce pack. Lucky I carry my handy wipes to be able to clean the table myself!! After waiting in the queue to be served which seemed like an eternity!! The couple in front were waiting on tea pots getting a run through the dishwater… this gave me time to look over the serving area… there was used jugs sat around, spilled coffee everywhere… but the food coming out did look nice. We ordered a cheese and ham toastie with fries and a baked potato with prawns and added cheese. The girl serving was in no hurry just going along at her own pace, as were the other two ladies serving. I was given a table number and went and sat down with my drink and cutlery. Sugar, salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar were available at the side with napkins, however no sauce in sight. The food arrived in reasonable time. Unfortunately the baked potato was COLD! Just what u need on a feeezing cold day. The prawns were a good amount on top of the potato and the sauce was nice. The cheese came in a cute wee flower pot and was also a good amount. Served on the side was “booths” coleslaw and a side salad consisting of lettuce and tomato… A shame the potato was so cold it was not edible but the fillings did taste lovely. The toastie on the other hand was good as were the fries! We quickly left and used the toilets on the way out which you walk through the gift shop to get to. They do have some nice gifts but I didn’t buy any. The hand drier in the bathroom is a waste of time, it comes on for 3 seconds… yes I counted… then off again and so on until you give up as the queue builds up behind you. Overall. Very commercialised, no nice service. Good ok and reasonable priced but would I go back… NO!

Lovely staff with a cheery welcome. Very clean everywhere which was abit surprising considering they welcome 'dogs & muddy boots ". Mum & I shared a tuna melt panini with Lovely salad garnish & rosemary & sea salt fries. And a pot of tea for two which was more than enough giving us 3 cups each. All for just £17.40. Excellent value 👏

Despite calling a few days ahead to book in our large party which I explained included dogs and young children, we were given an extremely rude reception - before being reluctantly led by the landlady to a table laid up for a different booking and told we had to fold down our buggies and leave within 2 hours. (There were other buggies in the bar area so this seemed particularly odd). We all felt really uncomfortable so decided to leave rather than let the atmosphere spoil our meal. Extremely disappointing as we had planned our trip to Keswick around a meal here. But delighted m to say all was not lost though and we found somewhere with a much more friendly and accommodating attitude.

We were thoroughly impressed by the food and service after visiting for Sunday lunch. Me and my partner order a pork and beef traditional roast and both left with fully belly’s and a new favourite spot to visit in Keswick. The meats were cooked to perfection, the beef was tender and the pork came with crackling in the mashed potatoes! All the vegetables were cooked and presented incredibly well and my partner tried, and loved, roasted parsnips for the first time! For dessert we got the gooseberry & apple crumble with custard and the special cheesecake - white chocolate and caramel - with cream. Both desserts were delicious and we both cleared our plates! Also a good selection of beers available. Highly recommend the Pheasant Inn and it is more than worth the 10 minute walk from the town centre!
