The best restaurants serving British food in Keswick Allerdale North West

Simply fabulous. We recently had afternoon tea while on a girlie weekend. The views are stunning. The hosts are so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, and as for the food …. It was absolutely amazing Highly recommend a visit.

The best dog friendly cafe in the lakes. Gorgeous food and the warmest welcome. This is our go to place when walking in the north lakes. All of the food always hits the spot but the cakes are just gorgeous!

A lovely treat after a family walk. My husband enjoyed his cup of tea so much, he went back to buy the mug. Perfect location. Worth a visit.

Encontramos este pequeño bistro en nuestros paseos que nunca supimos que estaba abierto al público, así que me alegro de haber encontrado el bistro cuando estamos llamando para caminar o regresar de nuestros paseos y una encantadora sorpresa al ver que estamos abiertos unas pocas noches a la semana, pedimos un asado los domingos después de nuestros paseos mejor carne de vaca que he tenido mi esposa tenía el pollo, la comida era abundante, la excelencia en el servicio y el personal amable y los possets caseros que nos recomendó Silvia. señora muy amable y acogedora acaba de terminar toda la experiencia de cualquiera que esté caminando por el camino al estacionamiento de Skiddaw, recomendaría probar este pequeño lugar

Might be the best veggie burger I’ve ever eaten

Positives Location was great. Building had lots of character. There was a new member of staff from Manchester at breakfast serving us who was lovely, he was so friendly and couldn’t not do enough to help us. Negatives We paid £216 and the room was like a box room, the furniture was dated. We felt like we were staying in our grannies box room. The view from our room was a set of stairs out of one window and an old shed where the staff smoked outside of which was a shame given the price we paid. Breakfast was awful, not the service but the food itself. And it was tiny. The corridor outside our room smelt like a nursing home. The man on reception didn’t seem too keen to give us more milk for the room, I like lots of milk in my tea and asked him for a good few sachets, you would have thought it was coming from his pocket.

I cannot imagine why anyone has given this pub 5 star reviews for food unless they only usually dine at Greggs, Mc Donald’s or a petrol station hot counter. Staff were fleeting but pleasant enough The food was,( I am being kind )nearly good enough to be below average and a long way below standard most Greene King houses we have used, the chicken wing starter were soggy under cooked, Gammon itself was good, but fries were low quality and peas very cheap and dry but less taste than tinned , it’s beer was ok but overall we would never ever go there again and if all Greene King were likes this one we would have abandoned then years ago .

maybe the guy behind the bar was having an off day? Gave me a bad pint and concealed a Scottish five pound note in the change! After a 5 hour walk, we had hoped for a nice welcome and not someone, looking unpleased to see us. Looking at other reviews, maybe just unlucky for us, this time round. Shame

Got a pasty before embarking on a walk. Was flavoursome with plenty of filling. It was also a reasonable price. Would return.

I recently stopped by and had a delightful vegan egg mayo sandwich, accompanied by a lovely side of slaw. The generous fillings were a highlight - it's clear they don't skimp on the good stuff! The crumble flapjack was also a treat with its satisfyingly crumbly texture and great taste. My only suggestion for improvement would be to consider adding a vegan crepe option to the menu, particularly a sweet one. With biscoff spread, vegan chocolate and fresh fruit being popular vegan-friendly ingredients, a crepe option like this could be a great addition. Overall, though, I enjoyed my experience and would recommend The Wild Strawberry to fellow vegans!
