We didn’t just go to a cafe for cream tea like we planned, we walked in and were HOSTED. Service with personal connection, care, (table rearranging, palette pleasing suggestions), stories, the owner Ian even took our photo in front of the cafe when we were done. They only accept cash, which we didn’t have, but he insisted we eat first, and get the cash from the ATM down the street after. We felt treated like family. Super charming, great food, next level staff, very highly recommended.

We literally stumbled in here to hide from the downpours when looking for lunch and what a find. I could have stayed all afternoon looking at the interesting Knick knacks and wall posters. What a lovely little gem of a place. We were hovering outside deciding whether to try it, when the door was opened by a very friendly gentleman, after showing us the menu, which made our decision to stay an easy one, especially after a long walk round Latrigg and were famished. I choose the scrambled eggs on thinly sliced sourdough, just wow it was so delicious, best I've had and considering I'm not a fan of sourdough, so glad it wasn't a doorstop slice! Coffee was also delicious. My hubby thoroughly enjoyed his ham & cheese toastie also on sourdough. Staff are really friendly and welcoming, such a wonderful cosy cafe, highly recommend. It was also lovely to be in a dog free cafe, an added bonus for us.

This is a cosy, quirky cafe with very friendly service and lovely home cooked, wholesome food. The owners clearly do a lot to support the local community and the café sells locally produced art, food, books and knitwear. It's a popular meeting place for local residents but tourists are made to feel very much at home. The menu seems to vary daily but everything I tried (soup, scone, flapjack) was delicious, I'll definitely return when I'm next in Keswick

Absolutely love this place. Can’t believe we only discovered it last year. Unique. Atmospheric. Comfortable. Ethical. Relaxing. Authentic. Jolly good food freshly prepared. Really good team who understand service. Just love the vibe. And,thank God, no b***** dogs. I like dogs but can’t stand them around my food. This must be one of the few eateries in Keswick that’s dog free. I really don’t want to recommend this place on second thoughts as I’d rather keep it to myself! Can get really busy. So pick your time. Easily the best cafe in this insanely touristified town.

Chinty's is a real antidote to all the bad news in the world. Here you can find a genuinely warm welcome, owner Chinty's good home cooking and much kindness. Four of us were hovering undecidedly outside on a cold November morning when co-owner, Ian invited us in for breakfast and soon we were being served delicious fresh coffee and scrambled egg. There was friendly conversation about fell running, local history, Icelandic knitting; interesting local art and crafts and condiments for sale, and lots of local regulars coming and going and cheery exchanges. The decor was bohemian, relaxed, arty and interesting, with plants, posters about local events and books for sale, including copies of the lovely Ivver Sen book, illustrated by Keith Bowen. We look forward to coming back next time we are in Keswick.

Chinty’s is an absolute gem. I have been going to Keswick all of my life and I can say with some confidence that this is the most welcoming place I have ever been to. We went twice, three days apart and they not only asked our names the first time, they remembered them on our return. The soup, the sausage rolls, the bread, the great coffee, the warm and welcoming surroundings were top notch. It is genuinely a lovely place to visit. Don’t miss it. (We didn’t try the cake but they looked lovely too).

Such a lovely warm welcome from Ian, the server. He was so attentive throughout our time there. It is a limited menu but everything we had and we went twice in three days in Keswick, tasted great. There was three types of soup to choose from which came with different accompaniments, ie, sourdough toast, spicy chickpea bun ect. There was also a choice of about five different types of cake and I can highly recommend the ginger and raspberry with extra fruit compote. Note it's cash only and closed Sunday and Monday. Soon as we go back to Keswick we are going back to Chintys.

If you're in Keswick, then Chinty's is a must visit. This was our second time at this amazing establishment. The first time, I was press ganged by a delightful old lady on the street who insisted "they'll like you in there and you'll like them!" How right she was! Ian is an incredibly friendly and accommodating host. Nothing is too much trouble. He made us feel very welcome and almost as if we'd been visiting forever! Recognised me immediately on our second appearance :) The food, freshly prepared by Chinty, is delicious, usually with a little twist. Not your everyday cafe fare. All this in a cosy, quirky, one might say artsy (not in a pretentious way) environment. Also very eco aware with lots of reusable, sustainable elements. Can't say enough about this place. Restores one's faith in human nature! (It really is that good!) Give 'em a visit

Einfach-klasse (Simple Brilliant). I first frequented this charming cafe in October last year. It’s old school, yet inviting, and once the Punter steps inside the warmth of humanity is unforgettable 🙏🐇 So, now. Every two to three weeks I make my way up to majestic Keswick from humble Ambleside in order to soak up the atmosphere of Chinty’s. The coffee and eggs on toast are second to none and the Hot tips on what’s happening locally (Opportunities for accommodation, business concepts and employment. Plus there’s the great array of memorabilia and local artist works to admire and be inspired by as the works are displayed all around the Establishment’s walls. Practically speaking the Cafe is just three doors up from the high quality traditional Barbershop 💈 (Türkischen Meister/Turkish Master Barber), now that’s a Cut-above the rest! Simply put - fantastic ! The food quality is excellent with everything home-made. Interesting selection of soups (I think I had carrot, pumpkin & ginger) but TBH, every time I've been there, I've had to choose from at least 2 different soup options. I know they do more than soup / sandwich but the thought that has gone into choosing the flavours and the quality means I don't need to consider anything else. Always a friendly welcome with jugs of cold water for the table - simple food but done so well ! Would we go back - err, every time we're in Keswick Would we recommend - yes. Wonderful and welcoming cafe such that I ended up making a habit of visiting for a morning coffee most days I'm visiting Keswick. They're all about the fresh, local and ethically sourced produce. The scones and cakes are amazing and the coffee is really well made. Slightly telling is just how popular it is with the locals. You get the impression they owners know most of the people in the cafe. Speaking of locals, if you get there at the right time, one of the locals may well be paying the piano. If he isn't there, as I understand it, pianists are welcome to jump in his seat. So I've heard anyway. I've yet to see it happen. One thing to be aware of is that they're a cash only place so make sure you visit one of the dwindling Keswick cash machines before you wander in. Highly recommended for a tea/coffee and cake/scone. I've not had a meal there but from what I've seen, they look great.

There was lots of choice of where to sit in a cafe in Keswick. But we came across Chintys and we were not disappointed. We had brilliant scrambled eggs on toast, tea and cake. All delicious and served with a smile. Would go back if...

Precis: Wow! Excellent! Any other superlative you choose! Full review: What a wonderful gem of a find! From the start the welcome was warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for Gary, Donna and their team; what a diamond they have found in Jack! The quality of the furnishings is very high, the fittings top class and the home made biscuits in the bedroom were delicious! Even a welcome decanter of sherry to start off your stay! The hallway walls are adorned with award plaques from numerous organisations! The grounds were extensive and very well kept. We had read about the wild red squirrels and hoped we may get to spot one - no fears there; we watched them running around the garden and feeder each day! Now for the food! Absolutely excellent! Each evening started at 7pm with canapés and good conversation with fellow guests, most of whom seem to be repeat visitors, with good reason! Gary is very personable and quite the bon viveur, his knowledge of wine is excellent, after all by his own admission he has been in the game for a good number of years! The four course dinner menu is set, no choices, but the menu is on display each morning and I'm sure that alternatives could be organised if enough notice were given. Each course was exquisite, served piping hot (where appropriate!) and presented beautifully, as was the table in general. Service was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was just as good! Hazel Bank has seven rooms and the restaurant is open only to residents. All this means that each guest gets very personal, and personable, service from start to finish! If you think that this review is a little enthusiastic then I doubt you've visited! Don't get me wrong, it isn't for everybody and nowhere is totally perfect, but Hazel Bank gets VERY close!

The hospality was first class, we were the only people having dinner but don’t let this put you off. Very quirky place but that is the beauty of the place. Good size portions the ravioli was tasty but pasta too thick making it tough the broth with it was very tasty but the addition of finely diced vegetables would be great. Smoked salmon roll first class. We had a chicken and a chuck steak I like my steak medium rare just as well as they don’t ask you. Sticky toffee pudding first rate as is the ice cream. Good coffee and wines.

Had booked few months back to visit this restaurant whilst visiting Keswick as part of walking the Cumbria Way. Upon our arrival we found a note on the door stating that the restaurant was closed. I know that unforeseen circumstances can occur but surely we could have been informed as the restaurant had all of our contact details, phone number, email etc It was a very busy Friday evening in Keswick and finding another place to eat was difficult. We eventually found the Fellpack which I would heartily recommend, they were open anyway.
