We booked for 19:00, but our main meals weren’t serviced until gone 20:30. Tasty food and good portions for fried food. Salmon dishes were small. Restaurant is not large so it may be good to book a table especially at weekends.

We visited here on our last day at the campsite and loved it, we had two full English breakfasts an apple juice and a pot of tea and everything was lovely. The service was good and it was nice to be able to see the chef preparing and cooking the food from scratch. The prices where reasonable and the portions where just right, the atmosphere was lovely nice and quiet, nice traditional decor and a lovely view down to the campsite.

Had our tea here whilst we were staying on site. The service was great but the food wasn’t and we thought that it was overpriced. The staff were very friendly and polite but this cannot be said for the chef who was very rude to us. Do not think we will be going back to this restaurant.

Thought that having a captive market in a campsite would mean overpriced, poor food but we really enjoyed our meal. The food was excellent and service friendly and unobtrusive. Would thoroughly recommend.

We really enjoyed the food at Jiggers on Friday evening. The veggie burger was excellent and the fish risotto was great. A simple menu, cooked to perfection. The service was excellent too, really welcoming and attentive but also relaxed. Try the chocolate fudge cake and ice cream.

I cannot speak highly enough of this great little restaurant. Sensibly priced and really good food. Not a huge range but everything we ate was spot on for the kids and us adults. Great pizzas. Not sure about the salad in the middle of the pizza, but they did provide me with a bowl instead. Friendly and efficient service. So convenient for us campers too. Please keep up the good work. You deserve to do well.

We stay on Castlerigg Hall campsite a couple of times a year and Jiggers is always on our list, the food is very nice, the staff are friendly and the place is nice and cosy especially in the winter when it’s cold outside, they allow dogs in too. A must visit for campers and visitors alike.

We have stayed at Castlerigg Hall many times over the past 8 years, we tried Jiggers for an evening meal a few years ago when it was under different management and the food was poor. Last year we had breakfast there under the new management and that was also poor, so it put us off trying an evening meal. We had an evening meal with a friend on the 30th September and it was the best meal I had eaten on our 2 weeks holiday, I had the mushroom & chestnut dish with a sweet potato topping, lovely fresh vegetables and mash, my husband had the Cumberland swirl and our friend had the Hungarian soup, we all agreed how good the food was, the staff were friendly and there was a nice atmosphere. I only regret was that we hadn't tried it at the start of our holiday then we could have eaten there a few times, there is always next year

Even if your not staying at the Castlerigg Hall Campsite it's worth trying. There is a varied menu for all tastes (including vegetarian) which is mainly locally sourced and made on site. There is a good selection of beers and wine as well. In the summer there is an outside terrace with views towards the lake. The service was relaxed but efficient and we were told how the dishes were made or sourced as we were served. Little restaurants like this in relatively out of the way locations restore your faith in British food (even if the chef is Hungarian)

Had lovely venison casserole which was just what was needed on such an evening. Staff were very friendly and the menu clearly marked with gluten free options. We will be going back before the end of our stay.

Jiggers is advertised as dog friendly and it lives up to its promise but I feel it goes too far. I watched one of the staff stroke a dog then go on to serve a customer without washing his hands. I complained to one of the staff who told me they all wash their hands if they have stroked a dog. I pointed out that this had not happened so she reminded the staff to wash hands after stroking dogs. I'm amazed they were allowed to stroke dogs at all while serving.

Staying at the Castlerigg Hall Campsite encouraged us to try the restaurant there. We were surprised to find that the crisps are handmade and freshly fried, delicious, good beer & organic wine is available and a varied menu for all tastes, as vegetarians we were actually spoiled for choice. We had a meal on several occasions with a diverse group, everyone was impressed. We visit Keswick a lot and have never thought of trying Food at Jiggers, but the location with lovely a lovely terrace and the quality of the food and service will certainly bring us back again next year!

We were staying at campsite opposite and wished to have a meal out for our last night in the area. First thought was to head into Keswick but after a long day in the hills could not find the energy or enthusiasm so decided to try Jiggers - and we were so delighted we came here. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the food was top class with a good range of vegetarian options which, as a veggie, I found most enlightening. Prices were very reasonable so highly recommend this restaurant.

On a camping trip we chose to eat at the restaurant for our final night. The food was reasonably priced, if a little expensive, and the service was average. We ordered a range of things - tomato pasta bake, fish and chips, falafel salad, sesame chicken and a frittata. The falafel salad was fairly disappointing - plain, no hummus, a small portion. The sesame chicken went down fairly well. Overall its a good restaurant for an easy, nice meal, although don't bother spending too much or going out of your way to visit.

It did not disappoint, so we booked in for the evening meal, asking for a window seat, al the better to see the great view towards Derwentwater in rain or sunshine. Great walk, great campsite shower, great appetite. Perfect table, great food and not too expensive. A nice pint of Blacksheep to go with my meal. A range of bottled beers were also available.

The food was ok, the sevice was not, very slow and all he staff that where on duty disappeared when an order was made all hands to the pumps ect, if you wanted another drink long wait for someone to appear, also take aways put undue pressure on the kitchen which reflects the slow service, all food cooked to order is a Kop out, most of the mains are via microwave, heated to order although the chips seem to be fresh,

This restaurant is on the Castlerigg Hall Caravan park and is a real gem. We booked a table (does not seem to be strictly necessary) as it was my birthday. On arrival we found the table to be decorated with a banner and a slice of cake with a candle, such a surprise. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They went out of their way to make sure we, along with others in the restaurant were made to feel at home and received the best of care. The menu had plenty of choice for starters, mains and desserts along with several specials on a separate board. The food was excellent and very well presented. I had sesame coated chicken breast and my husband had steak along with fresh veggies and new potatoes. The problem we had was trying to decide on a dessert as they all sounded wonderful. This restaurant also offers a take out meal facility for those staying on site. The whole experience of Food at Jiggers was a very welcome surprise. A big thank you to everyone who works so hard to provide excellent food and also make your guests feel so welcome.

Walked from Keswick centre to Nichol End Marina. A lovely walk but was glad when I arrived at the marina cafe. Roger (jolly Roger) welcomed me in and was so helpful and friendly. It was quiet as the season is coming to an end. I had an oat milk coffee and a raisin sticky toffee scone. It was so big! Put half in a bag to take home. Plenty of choice of scones all fresh and looking delicious. Prices were so reasonable. Roger then gave me a ride in his boat across Derwent Water. He’s such a nice man. It made my day to find a gem of a place. Would def recommend if in the area. Will return and try out the boating/canoeing etc next year.
