Pre arranged afternoon tea for thirteen friends celebrating 80th birthday. Excellent food served in a friendly manner with stunning views from the valley to Helvellyn and Blencathra.

We had one of the best afternoon teas here that I have had in a long time and at a very reasonable price. A lot of care had gone in to what was offered which was much appreciated. As well as a yummy tea the setting of the Keswick Kitchen, set in the Keswick Golf club ten miles from Penrith, is beautiful and very peaceful. Thank you for making my friends birthday so special

A big thank you to Jackie and Tim for the birthday celebration organised at Keswick Golf Club. Jackie was always available prior to the date (for questions and organising). On the day she put on a lovely spread (savoury & sweet) and coupled with the location and room decorations everything was perfect. No hesitations to recommend The Keswick Kitchen.

Jackie, Tim and David went above and beyond to make sure our family celebration went ahead as planned, despite the flooding which held up the chef (and the food) further up the valley. Great teamwork with Lucie from Bristowe Hill who braved the floods in her Landrover to rescue the chef and bring him to the venue. Jackie came to see me in person to inform me about the situation as well as half-hourly texts to keep me updated on progress. In the end everything turned out extremely well and everyone made it to the house safely..The food was delicious and we felt utterly spoiled by the friendly, approachable staff - and there was no washing up for us to do! Would thoroughly recommend The Keswick Kitchen.

We were staying in a nearby guest accommodation, all 17 of us and we tasked Jackie with providing a celebration dinner for my wife. She entered into our suggestions very wholeheartedly and produced very delicious Moroccan food which was appreciated by all. There was plenty of it, it was genuinely spicy in the Moroccan tradition (we had just come from Morocco) and there was plenty of it, indeed so much that it did us for two meals. Add to that the careful cooking and heating instructions for this takeaway meal and we would unreservedly recommend her to anyone else

Another excellent experience this time for Sunday lunch which was superb. Great service by Tim, Jackie and all the team. Very attentive and professional. We had the roast beef and chicken with all the trimmings and lovely veg on the side. All cooked to perfection and plentiful platefuls! Great value especially compared to many of the extortionate tourist trap establishments in the Lakes. To top it off our table was at an open patio door at the terrace on a glorious day with a great view of the 18th hole and nearby fells. All in all a great experience. Thoroughly recommended.

Such a lovely warm welcome from Ian, the server. He was so attentive throughout our time there. It is a limited menu but everything we had and we went twice in three days in Keswick, tasted great. There was three types of soup to choose from which came with different accompaniments, ie, sourdough toast, spicy chickpea bun ect. There was also a choice of about five different types of cake and I can highly recommend the ginger and raspberry with extra fruit compote. Note it's cash only and closed Sunday and Monday. Soon as we go back to Keswick we are going back to Chintys.

Precis: Wow! Excellent! Any other superlative you choose! Full review: What a wonderful gem of a find! From the start the welcome was warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for Gary, Donna and their team; what a diamond they have found in Jack! The quality of the furnishings is very high, the fittings top class and the home made biscuits in the bedroom were delicious! Even a welcome decanter of sherry to start off your stay! The hallway walls are adorned with award plaques from numerous organisations! The grounds were extensive and very well kept. We had read about the wild red squirrels and hoped we may get to spot one - no fears there; we watched them running around the garden and feeder each day! Now for the food! Absolutely excellent! Each evening started at 7pm with canapés and good conversation with fellow guests, most of whom seem to be repeat visitors, with good reason! Gary is very personable and quite the bon viveur, his knowledge of wine is excellent, after all by his own admission he has been in the game for a good number of years! The four course dinner menu is set, no choices, but the menu is on display each morning and I'm sure that alternatives could be organised if enough notice were given. Each course was exquisite, served piping hot (where appropriate!) and presented beautifully, as was the table in general. Service was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was just as good! Hazel Bank has seven rooms and the restaurant is open only to residents. All this means that each guest gets very personal, and personable, service from start to finish! If you think that this review is a little enthusiastic then I doubt you've visited! Don't get me wrong, it isn't for everybody and nowhere is totally perfect, but Hazel Bank gets VERY close!
