Standard Greggs fare which is fine and adequate OR you could go across the road to the pasty company and pay twice the price for the same calibre of food. Your call. Not a fan of Greggs BUT you do know what youa arew getting and it is better than the opposition. Greggs will still be there in 5 years the pasty company wont be, i wonder why?????

I was in Keswick and thirsty and in need of a scone or a cake and decided to try Greggs in the Market Place. Due to coronavirus restrictions, expect to wait longer than usual because of the 2 metre distancing rules and only 2 customers at a time allowed in the shop, and they only take card payments at the moment. Also some product ranges aren't available. However, on a positive note, like Greggs anywhere else, prices are low and lower than most other bakeries and cafes in Keswick. Typically you can buy a bottle of mineral water for a pound or less and the cakes, pasties and steakbakes are in the £ 1-1.50 range. I bought a bottle of Gregg's own mineral water and a jammie( a jam filled doughnut with icing) for £ 1.85 and considered both good value.

Love a good Greggs pasty I do and today's visit didn't disappoint. Went to Keswick with the family, got a bit peckish, thought hmm what can I have ? Partner suggested Greggs, I thought aye why not. So we got a Greggs. I got a pepperoni pizza slice and blooming hec it was better than goodfellas. Don't tell DeNiro. Was a bit busy in there mind. Was lucky to grab a slice o' pizza as there was two younguns at the front buying loads. And I was stood there thinking they better not ask for a pizza slice n arl. I would have gone spare. But they must have heard my prayer like cause it was about the only thing they didn't touch. Water was good too. Proper kept us going till the end of the day then we went to get a burger and a pint. Could have had another Greggs like but nah, didn't want to ruin the earlier experience. Cheers Greggs. Cheers Keswick.

We have popped in here a few times for sanwiches for our children while on holiday in Keswick and the past 2 visits have been awful. If you want a pasty then you will be fine but when on the go and out for walks with children, pasties and sausage rolls arn't everyones choice. On Friday at 12.30 there were only 2 sandwiches on display which were both egg salads. I stood in a very slow queue to be told they only had the 'afternoon' stock left. In my mind, I would think that 12.30 and an empty sandwich stand would be a good reason to get the 'afternoon' stock out!

We were sadly disappointed when we went looking for a sandwich for our next days walk mid afternoon at Greggs. Lucky to get any sandwich at all. If there was anything on offer it was extremely limited. Staff would make one for you but after a long days walk, rising early, then standing in a queue, the wait whilst staff decided what they could make, then the wait for them to make it was all too much. Also, they didn't usually open until 8, we start our walking day hours before that so no good waiting to get your lunch on the morning of the walk. Come on Greggs, surely you can do better than this in a tourist town famed for it's fabulous fell walks.

We are usually out walking by 7:30, long before Greggs opens so we have to shop the day before if we want sandwiches for our lunch. There is not much to choose from when we return from walking at around 3pm, sometimes you are lucky if there's anything left!! Be careful of the wrappings as they often have mayo or chilli sauce on them. Several times my walking jacket has been marked by this. When I've noticed this the staff have put a further wrapper on for me. Why not just take more care in the food prep? Tasty though, especially when you are hungry on the top of a windy fell. Value for money too.

Ok, so my title was dubious and on second thoughts it looks like I work for Greggs. I don't! I was merely wandering around Kewsick one morning searching for an OS map as i'd left the previous North East Lake District OS map on the roof of my car and then driven off so had to find another. After grabbing a new map I made my way to Greggs for two sandwiches that my partner and I might eat at the top of Skiddaw for we'd already bought some pyramidal shaped chocolate logs at a shop where the items are £1 (a great deal by the way). The counter was well manned and just as a potentially catastrophic queue was forming another assistant freed herself from baking something in the back of the store and leapt into the fray. Thus the queue was dissolved before it could even take shape, I was served quickly and merrily and all customers were mightily relieved.I bought two sandwiches, the tuna on white bread and a chicken salad on brown. When purchasing I was offered a coffee for 50p on top, apparently this came cheaply with the sandwich, however if I ordered another coffee it was to be more than 50p. I have to say I was a little confused as to exactly what the offer was so I just bought the one coffee and was on my way.We put the sandwiches (which were fairly priced) into our rucksacks and hauled them up Skiddaw. Somewhere approaching the top we nestled on a nearby rump of grass slightly shielded from the south-easterly wind and had our sandwiches, they were very helpful that close to the summit and delivered the calories we needed. We toasted Greggs and the caffeine (only I had a coffee due to the ambiguous prices) and made our way up the last of the skree to the end. Thanks Greggs.

What a lovely restaurant with fabulous food and great staff. We were staying close by and had seen great reviews about the restaurant so we had to try it….not just once but two nights in a row it was that good. On the first night my husband had lamb shoulder which was cooked to perfection and fell off the bone, I had salmon and prawns which were equally as good. The second night it was seafood platter for my husband and sweet and sour chicken for me. Both meals were very good and it was great to have so much to choose from. It was a pleasant change to be able to choose the accompaniment to the meals rather than just chips with salad or veg. The staff were very attentive and polite. All in all it was a great experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The festive lunch was ordered by all. Firstly the food for the most part was enjoyed by all 4 pax. However service was lacking both in care and in speed. A set 3 course lunch took 2.5 hours to complete. Dishes were delivered to table without suitable cutlery, serving tray left on the table, 3 pax finished their desserts before the 4th pax received theirs. Waiting staff had to be called for as they passed by, as all, except one, just ignored checking the table meal progress. It appears there is a shortage of staff, but in that case restrict the number of reservations to a level which can be coped with. That said the Brasserie was only a quarter occupied.

Stopped by chance during a circular walk. Good service and made to feel very welcome. The tea and coffee was appreciated as were the spotless WC! Will call again.

A fabulous hidden gem nestled in the sleepy village of Stonethwaite. Delicious food , fabulous service and very friendly staff ! The inn is very interesting with lots of ancient artefacts too .
