Friendly staff good food and good service. Me and the gf had the steak and ale pie with veg and potatoes and was really nice. Didn't have to wait long at all. We then had sticky toffee pudding with custard each and that was also lovely. Hit a jug of custard each. The funny thing is when we walked past the entrance the next day out springer tried pulling us back into the place. Dogs aren't allowed on the carpeted area as a rule but are allowed everywhere else. We was luck because our table was on the tiled area near the beer garden door. Would eat there again.

Not a very friendly place. 3 year old basically told off for bringing in a half eaten ice cream. Nowhere to change a 6 month old baby, and when we used a spare table, with a changing mat, one staff member was overheard telling another customer we could have taken the baby back to our car and changed her in the boot.

We went here because everywhere else we tried was full, let’s start of with the rudeness of the staff behind the bar, £6.30 for a pint of Stella that taste like cat piss you joking.. the whole glass was covered in beer cause he’d over filled it didn’t even say here’s a paper towel sorry. So I carried to our table spilling beer all over the place. The amount of smelly dirty dogs in there was off putting, barking and crawling all over the chairs. Just a dull and disappointing atmosphere, the food I had was shocking I got the fish and chips thinking it would be a big piece of fish, I might aswell of just had batter on my plate literally zero fish inside. All the food looked like it had been stuck in a microwave. If anyone says the food here is nice you need your taste buds testing the food they serve is shocking. Some people may like it in here but it wasn’t great.

We've been going to the Bank for years (probably 40) and we have noticed it's going down hill for the past few years. Food not as good (that's down to the chef which happens from time to time) but the beer is down to the owner/manager/tennant, lackluster dull and a poor choice. However this last visit was probably the worst we've had there. Unbelievably rude staff , when I asked what IPA's where on I was grunted at and the "boy" behind the bar pointed to the pumps! but the accolade for rudeness is especially awarded the front of house lady with long dark hair and glasses when she grabbed hold of my arm and pointed to the sign which basically says "no dogs beyond this point" (ie: not on the smelly sticky carpet that's been there for years) That rule & sign has been in place before she was born! I know it's a hard, unrewarding job, but if you can't cope with it don't do it.

Ate in there 1 evening. The food was OK, from a very generic pub menu featuring all the standards (pies, fish & chips, grills). Bar staff were OK, but the waiting staff were basically miserable. And the worst aspect - the place was full of dogs, none under the control of their owners, who were typically late middle-aged couples , treating their mutts as child substitutes. At one point there were 4 adjacent tables , each with 2 dogs, competing to see which could bark the loudest. And what did the staff do about it, yep you guessed, naff all. Unless you love dogs, and don't mind boring food, avoid. Apparently it's been taken over by Marstons from Jennings, and is going downhill quickly.

It was a tiny bowl of gravy with around 6 small pieces of lamb , with a few slices of potatoe. A tiny bowl of cabbage on the side. Then £14 for 2 pints of lager just to rub the salt in the wound. One of many pubs visited in our stay in Keswick. Visited it 3 times as we were running out of options and had a dog. Also the town centre was very busy. It's find your own table. No booking as constant stream of customers. Dogs only allowed on non-carpeted areas. Makes it awkward when people just sitting drinking on the other tables and you want to eat. Also the carpet was filthy so don't know why dogs weren't allowed everywhere. In my opinion you are either dog friendly or not. Had a burger. Was ok. Asked for well done but was not as well done as I liked. But ok. Had a salmon dish with crushed potato and veg. From the specials board and partner said it was the best meal they'd had during our two week stay Had steak and ale pie. Again full of steak pieces and reasonably tasty. Can't complain. Had a fillet steak. Asked for it to be well done. Well it came out so dry and burnt on the edges it was disgusting. A good chef can cook a steak well done without burning or drying it out. Served in a skillet floating in something. Not quite sure. Terrible for the price. Sea bass was in the specials board and partner had it and said it was beautiful. Looked really nice too. Good portion of sea bass too. Everything had to be ordered at bar including drinks and meals Service ok. No real smiles or interaction. Heard someone mention the leek and potato soup was too spicy for them and the lady with the blonde hair by the bar couldn't care less and treated the woman with complete disdain. Very unprofessional. In the warm weather week and other visits plagued by flies. Not v appealing and a real nuisance as doors were left open. Would I go back. No. But sort of one of the best of a bad bunch in Keswick town centre really.

The food was lovely. Although I only had a tuna and cheese baguette it was the best one I've ever had!

Popped in for lunch when it was pouring down with rain, food and drink was excellent, the dog was happy to be out of the rain and to top it all the music was brilliant. Northern soul for ever.

8 of us called in for food and drinks. Good service and staff seemed friendly enough. Food was tasty and enjoyed it. Dog friendly of course.

Expensive drinks, cost £5.50 more than the same drinks in Scotland the day before.

After waiting for 10 minutes for the bartender to even notice me (had his back to me faffing around with the till) and none of the other bar/waiting staff even making eye contact I gave up and went elsewhere.

The special board Fish Pie is a disaster!!! Dry, tasteless and what seems to be oil instead of a nice creamy sauce.. please avoid and save your money, it’s really not worth it.. a real shame as the food used to be good.

A really lovely traditional tavern with a very warm welcome. We visited for dinner and although a table was not immediately available, the waitress moved a couple of tables to accommodate six of us with our dog too. She joked with our teen lads and made us feel very welcome. There was a great selection of food on the menu and each of our dishes were good quality, very tasty and homemade, the steak pie was delicious and it came with fresh veg too! So many places falsely claim their food is ‘homemade’ but this really was.

Popped in after a hike. Spacious inside, lots of tables, great menu choice (£15 ish) once ordered at the bar not long to wait until cooked (seemed longer at the bar!), I had chicken supreme, really tasty, great amount, friend had trout. Very impressed, def pop in another time - tucking in before thought to take a photo. Staff lovely too.

Visited tonight and was not disappointed. Amazing food, sausages, mash and veggies in a Yorkshire pudding. Great sticky toffee pudding also. Great service and lovely staff. Good value and a visit is recommended.

The service was completely off. Waited 30 minutes for coffee. We asked several times and finally had to go to the bar for coffee.

We stayed here for 1 night and it was really lovely. As a family of 5 it can be tricky to find rooms big enough and to have that option here was great. The room was spacious and plenty of room for a double, 2 singles and a pull out bed too. Lovely big bathroom too with a great bath and shower. Room was spotlessly clean and super fluffy towels. We ate in the restaurant and also had breakfast the following morning. The portion sizes were generous and the food delicious. The breakfast was great, excellent quality of food and most of all the staff were all friendly and welcoming. Great stay and we will definitely be back.
