Marconi's Bar & Bistro in Allerdale

Stopped in for lunch on Saturday, delighted to find a menu with so many gluten free options on the menu! I opted for the Hot & Sweet McKay's Burger - it was delicious. Highly recommend giving this bistro a visit!

Yum Yum Yum!!! Next visits will be for the Curry Nights - on the last friday of each month and the Fish Nights on the first Friday of each month!

This is a lovely restaurant for dinner. The food was delicious. The Fish and Chips dinner was abundant and scrumptious. The other members orders seafood chowder and chicken supreme — which were equally delicious. The flavors were exceptional. Waitstaff was attentive and friendly. The manager was friendly and attentive. The charm of this restaurant makes it easily a restaurant you need to prioritize on your next trip to Ballycastle.

View was lovely we sat 23 minutes before anyone came to serve us and when I meantioned that was told it couldn’t have been that long !!! Then we were asked who seated us??? Don’t know why??? The meal arrived in another 10 ti 15 minutes with only one meal there !! Then my partner had another 10 minute wait for her food ! The food was nice and the waiting staff also bitbim annoyed at being questioned in our wait like I was lying ! And what has whomever sat us down for to do with us ??? Will not be back

Went for Sunday lunch the restaurant was lovely with good views.

Great staff, very friendly and nothing too much trouble but that's where it ends. I struggled with the menu but opted for daube of beef. It was very dry and tasteless, it was more like a cheap cut of stewing steak. The restaurant itself is very fresh but seating a little uncomfortable. Kept sliding off the booth seat so moved to the other side of the table to a chair but it was hard and uncomfortable.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here. The Glenarm Salmon was very tasty , our waiter was friendly. Afterwards we enjoyed a walk on the beach . A great way to spend Sunday .

Great spot for a nice night out. The staff is very good and attentive. I had the chicken supreme, and it was delicious, and tender. I also tasted the braised beef and it had a lot of flavor. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good night out

Food great, especially the fish and chips and terrific views of Torr Head from our table. Parking is convenient. One of the waitresses had a very curt manner about her when taking our food orders, no pleasantries. I would not hurry back if she is there.

We were warmly welcomed inside on a cool, rainy day. The fireplace beckoned and drinks were quickly served. Our table awaited, at our leisure we sat. The menu had something for everyone in our party, including many choices for vegetarians. It was hard to decide what to pick! My choice was the salmon with risotto. It arrived at the table with steam rolling off. It was decadent! I highly recommend Marconi’s for drinks, food or both. The staff will be sure to make it worth your while!

Reading the menu you can already feel it’s written by someone who loves food. Service is outstanding. We felt so at home that we came back today for more.

Me an my wife we had the chowder at lunch and was amazing ,how I expect it and I had the Biscotti cheesecake which for me was not cold enough and my wife had the sticky toffee pudding and they were big portions enough dessert to share it with your partner if you get an extra ice cream scoop The service was little slow but was worthy Very happy we stopped by 😋😋

Booked for a friend's birthday. The restaurant was stifingnly warm, and the music selection of Bruce Springsteen and Shania Twain was overly loud. Shared a Meat Platter to start which was incredibly tasty. Had a large seafood chowder for main. Hunks of Salmon and Cod as well as Mussels. It was lovely but very filling and I couldn't finish it. Shared the Peanut Butter and Biscoff Cheesecake for dessert which was light and gorgeous. Service was pleasant and pretty quick. Restaurant wasn't full for a Saturday night.

Food was ok, the wait was ridiculous it was 45 minutes for a kids meal and even longer for an adults.

Very beautiful location, large, well-kept, pleasant as is this small colorful village on the ocean. Very good, tasty food, excellent choice of beers, very good mixed cheese starter, very friendly staff, normal bill. Large and clean bathroom.

Stayed at the hotel attached to this restaurant and the breakfast was good but safe to say dinner was another story. Seated at 7.15pm and drinks order taken and food order. Waited about 35 mins for soup to come down. Heard the table behind us being apologised to about their wait and how there was a mix up in sending their order to the kitchen and they would get a round of free drinks, albeit only coffees but there was 4 of them. At 840pm I asked where our mains were, to be told they were being plated up now. Asked again at 9pm to be told that they were coming down. 9.02pm our plates were set infront of us. No sort of apology other than being told they were very busy. They were not! It's not a big place, and there were a few tables empty. Maybe 12 tables seated! We didn't even wait for our main plates to be collected we just were that scundered with the wait. The attitude of the hostest also left alot to be desired. Rude and arrogant, especially when asked where our mains were. Left and wondered why my partner didn't finish his, he only got a burger and chips. To which he couldn't eat his chips as they weren't cooked, still raw in the middle. He doesn't like to complain so didn't say to me as he knew I was cross about the wait. So paid £80 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks, and the main wasn't even cooked properly

Superb food - we had seafood chowder and mussels. Very friendly and helpful staff. It was busy but we didn't wait long for our order to be taken or for our food to arrive. Nice atmosphere, lots of families. Loved the location looking out to the children's playground and the sea. All round great!

Went down Ballycastle town for dinner. We had wanted fish and chips and had heard there was a nice chipper at the waterfront but because it was Monday evening it was closed. So Marconi’s restaurant was close by and we managed to get a table. First we waited ages to be served. We didn’t really mind that because we were glad of the table when we hadn’t made a booking. Eventually we were served. Then it took another age for the food to be served. Three out of four of us ordered the battered fish and chips and my daughter ordered the beef burger. When the food came I knew straight away that it wasn’t going to be a nice meal. The battered fish pon all three plates was overcooked to a very dark brown colour with the ends being rock hard crispy. It was also so so greasy. Obviously it is deep fried fish but it’s deep fried everywhere else we get the same dish and the batter is always light and fluffy. We didn’t complain because we were absolutely starving at this stage. The chunky chips were alright, again overcooked but not as much as the fish. It also came with mushy peas. We ate the dish, I shared a small bit with my daughter cause I couldn’t finish it because it was horrible. My sons complained about it also but they ate theirs. We paid up and left. The young members of staff were nice and polite. I left a tip because of that, not the food. When we went back to the hotel all three of us felt a bit sick after the meal. I felt the worst and went to bed hoping to go asleep. An hour and a half later I ended up vomiting the entire meal back up. The boys didn’t. They still felt a bit sick, they said it was one of the worst meals they’ve ever had. I don’t think the fish was in any way gone off, it was the disgusting batter. Surely a restaurant that seems to specialise in fish dishes could manage a nice battered fish. Seemingly not. My daughter said her burger was fine, not bad, not good, just fine. Complete waste of money. Also, I saw a senior member of staff clapping her hands to get the attention of customers to bring them to their table. I was shocked at that behaviour.

Impossible to get a good seat if we haven't reserved. But the staff is very good and one of the ladies who seems to manage the group is just "exceptional". Asks us how things are and answers with a big smile any questions we may have about the area.

Top notch, very warm inside tho.

Service was a little scatty but helpful and friendly. Chairs weren’t overly comfortable for bistro experience. Food was delicious and good portion sizes.

Very slow service and the food wasn't super tasty.

This could be great but several things let it down. The service was slow, 20 mins to even order drinks, and an hour to be served our main course. No explanation or effort to build rapport with customers. My fish portion was well cooked but very small, the cauliflower accomplishment was seriously hot...I was expecting curry flavours not to have my eyes water. Luckily my husband likes spicy food so he ate that. Our daughter's chicken was dry. We had to ask twice to get replacement water and drinks with our meal and again twice to get the bill, another 40 min wait. This didn't sit well, with us having pre-booked online which stated we only had the table for an hour and must vacate it by 8pm, so we'd prepared ourselves to be quick and vacate the table swiftly. We booked for 7pm and hadn't even had our main meal by 8pm so I'm thankful no one enforced their booking policy. The majority of the staff appeared to be young and trying hard but very inefficient. I felt sorry for them as they were clearly trying but weren't working well as a team. We're only here on holiday but I'd recommend other places to eat, unless you've got lots of time on your hands.

Helpful staff when explained I have a milk allergy which often limits the menu for me. They explained what I could eat and enjoyed my menu choice of the steak. A lovely dining experience.

Disappointing food especially for the price. Service not overly friendly. We had the fish and chip which was pretty mediocre (probably would have got better from a local chippy) and the salmon with very stodgy risotto. We had to ask to get the plates cleared and staff interacted to the bear minimum. Shame Wish we had done a bit more homework and gone down onto the high street where we ate subsequent days to a much better standard with friendlier vibes.

Lovely seafood night with friendly service.

It's a while since we'd been to Marconi's Bistro, but the place has changed bright & airy with great spacing between tables, staff very polite & friendly, service was quick and the food was delicious and plenty of it, we'll be back , a must try if you're in Ballycastle or nearby.

Excellent service and top class food. Really nice being able to bring the dogs.

Dined here at the start of the month for seafood night with a friend. All I can say is, the food was outstanding. Especially my main course which was the Hake dish, fish fell apart in my mouth, full of delicious flavours, I made sure I finished the whole meal!!! Not a dessert person, however the biscoff profiteroles… were to die for!! It was such a treat! I’ll definitely be back for the next seafood night

Sat for an hour just to be told our food order hadn't been put through. Hungry kids! They apologised but still charged for drinks as we left..

I could not recommend our meal highly enough. Every part of our meal was cooked perfectly and balance brilliantly on the plate. I will be recommending Marconi's to any friends traveling to the area and Marconi's will be a destination on my next trip.

We had been looking forward to the once monthly seafood menu but was left very disappointed. My stater was fine but my wife had crab aran initially. We couldn't taste any crab and the romesco sauce was very very spicy. The sorbet to follow was lovely but mine was garnished with a half rotten strawberry. My wife's whole lemon sole was headless. My hake should have been with a roasted vegetable and chorizo casserole but was just courgette and tomato sauce . My lemon tart was OK but the pastry was thicker than the lemon filling . My wife had yoghurt paracetamol which wasn't set and was more like a posset. At £35/pp we expected better. Sorry but although the food was tasty not good value for the money.

What an amazing find: beautiful hotel, amazing view and absolutely outstanding food. My chowder was to die for, I had small, but it was absolutely huge: full of flavour and so so much fish, I would go back just for that. Excellent service and fantastic cocktails. Thank you for having us.

Great location for a hotel/restaurant but unfortunately we had to send our desert back as it wasn't good and we didn't feel welcome at all by the staff. It was a bit disappointing as we booked for a birthday celebration and we were expecting more from a restaurant with such a lovely view and location.

Perhaps a one off but the slow cooked braised beef was really leather like and not chewable. Probably a one off and will give another chance. Service couldn't be faulted in dealing with our complaint.

Great location but the food tasted pretty bland.

Wait staff was subpar. They made us leave the bistro literally for one minute to come back in to be seated the previous night they made us move like four tables before we got a table that was suitable for four people. The older staff was borderline rude where the younger staff was fairly nice food was OK at best.Eggs had shells in almost ever one they were boiled in oil instead of pan fried or on the on the grill. Pastries were the frozen kind not fresh baked. The night before we came to get fish and chips took 45 minutes the fish was gain ok at best chips were a little overcooked overall very poor!!

Give this place another go after a previous bad experience but will never cross the door again. My partner and I both got the chilli pasta. Hers was overly watery and both different colours. Right down to the very drink was shocking. Got a pint...

Family of 4 were accommodated at short notice in the lobby area. Great view and super food but most of all the staff were excellent and great ambassadors for Marconi’s. Without doubt the best service we received on holiday. 100% will return again.

Had an excellent meal in the marine hotel,. main course and dessert .satay chicken pitta. and pork belly followed by plum crumble and ice cream, raspberry posset with berries and shortbread first class service and beautiful food . Never disappoints the customers.

We went to this restaurant after a long trip, and even though there were many tables available, the “Concierge” said they would be full in 30 minutes. From the way she looked at us and chatted with us, there was sure to be no seat available. The problem was our sportswear, the fact that we were foreigners. We had to deal with it even after going through the best restaurants around the world. Extremely disappointing.

Went for dinner for my birthday and was just really disappointed. Waited over an hour for food for a table of two - no apologies, no communication, nothing and we weren’t the only ones. Waitresses were lovely but honestly felt so bad for them, seemed so overworked so clearly it’s a management issue.
